yup. last time.
Hello Friends,
Please keep your calm...Being a future manager you should take every challenge in your stride...It is only because of many MBA aspirants like you who requested for date extension as they did not knew about the fact if they can apply to BIM had they not ticked in XAT form. The date has been extended for the benefit of MBA aspirants like you.
We wish you all the best. All those who deserve , will definitely get a chance...so need not panic.Best of luck again....
Pals
I would like to know whether the repeated extenstion of dates for receiving the applications got anything to do with the Chennai High Court Ruling a few months back. Guys, the High Court mentioned that BIM should select the candidates based only on the written tests and they should not take into account the performance in GD/PI. Strange though, that is what the court decided. I have not seen BIM appealing against the decision. If the judgement still holds good, BIM do not have any discretion other than receiving the applicaiton forms and select candidates for admission purely on the basis of the XAT scores!
But in the prospectus issued after the judgement it was mentioned that the seleciton process consists of XAT score, GD and PI. BIM seniors and others who have any info, please share in the forum. Sorry for bringing in fresh doubts, but just I am curious.

i hvnt received a confirmation abt the receipt of draft from bim.neither they have replied to my query....wat to do now guys?
lovjain Saysi hvnt received a confirmation abt the receipt of draft from bim.neither they have replied to my query....wat to do now guys?
I think if u had sent the draft a long ago and havent got any recipt then u should call them up.why dont u give a ring to them and ask abt this?
Dear Freinds,
As rightly pointed out by some, the ruling is not for BIM only but for the entire B Schools in the country including IIMs. And the date extensions has nothing to do with the ruling. There will definitely be GD and PI for the selection process as has been written in the prospectus.
Best of Luck
About cut-offs their site says:
"There are large number of enquiries about cut-off scores. We do not decide cut-off scores before the last date of application. We fix the ratio of candidates to be called for interview per seat available. Based on this ratio cut-off scores get determined automatically. Hence, no one can say what the cut-off score is or what the cut-off score will be, till we receive all applications"
Thats exactly why all of us are goin crazy abt them extending deadlines... ppl who got @ 99 percentiles but were not called by xlri (me), who think they didnt do well in xibm and sibm, and most of the junta above 90 will apply there... so there...
we might see bim cutoffs at 90 to 92 because of this extension game...
i have one word for BIM.........cheaters.
somebody who said something abt future managers, should look wihin himself and th institute's policies. bcoz they are also nurtutring future managers.
what ar they trying to teach the student, even before the gd/pi process has begun, HOW TO CHEAT LEGALLY. This is totally unprofessional and sounds rediculous for an intst. which is claiming so many things like no. 1 in Tn won this award and that award. If they are trying to earn the left outs of the premier insts. they shud market themselves eough so that the high rankers apply them willingly not out of unsuccess in the other intsts. they intended to go. and what abt the people who showed their faith in BIM n applied witihn the first deadline ( i don't even remember when was that, does anybody) . have they been fooled successfully by BIM !!!! if yes then BIM has charted out a very good startegy......
guys i have got 93 percentile in XAT can u please advise if i shld apply to BIM
thanks

Hey Spooky, yours is exactly the type of case we have been discussing... 😃 To answer your q, go ahead and apply, in all probability, you will get called... for the gd/pi that is.... now i dunno if these guys are gonna "extend" their final calls so that even people who "missed" gd/pi can somehow "appear" and "try" for the best b-school on earth... you think me being too harsh, look above your post, see the reaction of pgites...

Well , dude i think thats only fair.
After All every B-School knows , its the quality of students entering into the B-School which is going to make the most difference.
Bim wants students with good quality , and trust me you would much rather enter a B-school with smarter guys around you then enter an "Ethical "B-school with lesser caliber of students.
As far extending Last dates its only 1 month na10 FEb to 15 March now?
Many other institutes including Sp Jain,Ximb (by 10 days) Xlri by 15 days , TISS by one whole month! SIBM by two months have extended their last dates .
So me thinks you should chill man.
Cheers ,
The Peshwa.

:) Hah!...u guys r right.... i felt the same way when SIBM had extended their dates as i had filled the form within the first week of the advertisment being released.... anyway i hope i make up with BIM as i missed out by not applying to GIM and XIMB.
he pr-com could u highlight the net expenses for the course in bim including tuition & hostels

if i am correct, ISB is a startup and as far as i know, it hasnt extended its deadline... and i dont think it suffers from a "less calibre student" disease... it has its cutoff set high... and imho, ISB is a much better b-school than our dear BIM... not that i am planning to go to ISB, i didnt even apply there.. heard that it takes only ppl with workex... might be wrong, but i took my decesion on that... like you said, many other insts have extended their deadlines, its their choice.. whatever the reason may be... it reflects bad on that inst... in the best case, people think it did not get enough applications, in the worst, that the inst is filled with crooks... guess they r prepared for that... the brand managers at that inst sure arnt gonna get sleep...
about the smarter guys thing.. i think i posted this on one other thread... look at pgites.. how many of us have done excellent in one exam, and have done not so good in other... lots of us, atleast judging from the posts when xat results were announced... do you really believe that one exam on one day of two hours will reflect accurately on your calibre? in that case, if you have 99 percentile (say) in an exam, will you accept that you are INFERIOR to a person who has 99.01 percentile? i personally think that isnt the case... and not because i have done bad in any one exam.. i did pretty good in both cat and xat... altho fms is another story 😃 so nothing like lesser caliber stus.. just one more point.. the top 10 percent in say a b grade bschool may get more salary than the bottom 10 percent of a b+ grade bschool...
btw, u from pune? pls pm me and let me know more abt you... i liked your signature very much...

I appreciate ur concerns but i dont think u shud be counting ur chances to make it thru on preventing high scorers frm applying. They hv every legitimate chance.
i think the admission policy adopted by most b-schools in india is completely bogus and it makes them appear as if they r only out to make money out of this.
I think we shud hv a system like in the US where u apply to the instis after the test results are out. That wont prevent high scorers frm applying to bim but it will save lot of money for the rest as they wudnt hv to apply to xlri,et al.It is very interesting that even though these instis dont conduct their own tests anymore, they are still charging exorbitant application fees(i dont think BIM's appln. fees have changed wrt. last yr when they used to conduct own test)...
Apparently,MM joshi's noble intention of reducing the financial burden on prospective mba applicants by combining all tests into single GMAT would then only benefit the institutes instead of the students as they can charge the same money without conducting the tests.(this comment is out of scope of this thread but i just brought it up b'coz evrything is horribly linked somehow..All this is one big scam,guys)..

Truer words were never spoken!
Dear Friends,
As asked by one of mba aspirants, BIM education would cost somewhere around 3-3.5 lacs. We have trimester system ie a total of six semesters in two years. At each trimester, the fee has to be paid. The total fee comes around 2.7 lacs including hostel charges...For mess,it comes around 15000 for 10 months,so a total of 30000 in two years.
If u plan to get a laptop/computer the whole BIM education costs around 3.5 + lacs.
Many banks are more than willing to offer educational loans to us,and can be availed within a week you join BIM.
Would like to add one point-- BIM awards MBA degree unlike PGDBM offered by many other institutes.
Best of Luck
Hey PRCOM,
I wanted to know how is the setup (i.e Faculty, placements, industry interaction) is like for the finance and operations fields at BIM, and also is dual specialisation is allowed.
