Guys does this matter if i am preparing from old books of coaching institutes. i got old books of 2007.
Hey
I am a CAT 2012 aspirant. I have divided the prep in 4 sections:
1.Quant: Going through Quantum Cat by Arihant publications. Seems good. Will start TIME bsm once they start distributing correspondence course for cat 2012.
2. Verbal ability: Norman Lewis + Hindu+Manhattan GMAT. will go for TIME study material after this.
3.DI: Arun sharma DI book and some vedic math...low key prep as of now...will hit top gear once I get hold of the TIME material.
4. Logical Reasoning: This is where I am a bit confused . I started doing LR section from arun sharma's DI & LR book but found it has some wrong explanation as well wrong ans . Shakuntala devi and G. summers have been suggested previously in this thread. Should I carry on with these two (or similler books) ??
Please suggest me if I am on the right track and help me with the LR section. Please dont suggest me on institute material as I wont get those before January 2012.

Quant : Quantitative Ability by Arun Sharma Or Quantum Cat By Sarvesh Sharma (i think Quantum Cat is better :), though u can have a look at both)
DI : For a start one can try Logical Reasoning Data interpretation by Nishit k Sinha. You can also compare it with DI by Arun Sharma
And of course the TIME material. But one's preparation is insufficient without going through the TIME practice material and AIMCAT questions.

For LR : The above mentioned Book. But its not comprehensive.Try Shankuntala Devi's Puzzles to puzzle you.
TIME/CL material is ok for a topic wise Overview.
To improve your ability on this topic you have to solve puzzles online, sudokus etc.
Verbal : Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension By Arun Sharma will do.
Word power made Easy (Vocab)
GRE word list.
Wren n Martin.
Lots Of reading and reading and reading ;)
And the most Imp. Joining any test series ๐

thnks a lot
Is English usagae for CAT by pearson publication a good book to study for grammar ? Any other suggestion for a book which is good for grammar specifically.

I hope you are talking about the book by the author Sujit Kumar. There are few mistakes in the book and few concepts given are wrong.Still,it is a good book to have.I would suggest you to have it alongwith Manhattan Sentence Correction guide and/or Wren and Martin(in case you want all the basic stuffs of grammar). All the best.In case of more doubts, you can PM me.

AFAIK,the books available for LRDI in the market aren't good enough. The best source of LRDI questions is the previous papers/ mocks. You will get the best practice questions via that source.Even if you don't buy a specific LRDI book, you will have enough practice from the mocks/past papers.Do questions from AIMCATs,SIMCATs,CL etc etc.All the best!!

navinseth SaysWhich are the best books for MAT.?
Dear Mr Seth....i think for quant, verbal and english u may go through R.S.Agrawal Books....especially english part of the R.S.Agrawal books are more beneficial for MAT as well CMAT....however for some good command on the quant u may go up to level-II of Arun Sharma....but first start with R.S.Agrawal math....take care..
ya...it's good bt the time is main matter...if u r in job then i'm in doubt that u would complete the Trishna.....first of all time management and selected study should be main concern...so keep it up bro...
can anyone suggest good books for CAT prep... i started with QUANTUM CAT by ARIHANT publications.... how's the book???? please suggest some books for DI, LR,VA...
