though its pretty late
for qa i am following :Quantum Cat
but am lost for VA n DI
can anyone suggest good books for the above portions

For English section, I went through some ebooks listed below... They are really good....
1. Aristotle - Sentence Correction Grail
2. Aristotle - The Definitive RC Guide RC-99

In fact they have a tense tutorial site in this website... You can check tht PDF. Its the best...

You can try English Usage for CAT by Sujit Kumar( although it has some mistakes,but very few).

for people who are weak in English section for CAT , keep one thing in mind , it can be nailed.
I was one amongst you when i scored 10% in CAT 2008 in English , where my absolute marks were actually negative ! Distraught after the results i found it really hard to come to terms with the 'fact' that i was so poor in english , despite being convent educated.
I had to take simple steps which helped me strengthen my base and ultimately take larger steps which put me in good shape for the final test.
My results next were(for VA only)

CAT 2010 : 95.6
CAT 2011 : 97.56

Hi, I can almost identify with you. I gave CAT for the first time this year and scored a meagre 40 percentile in VA, defying my notion that I am adept in English. Pls share the strategy you followed to improve in this section. Thanks in advance

I am not sure how good or bad you are at english , but i was really bad. bad in the sense , i faced problems reading a hindu editorial where i wouldnt understand most of the words.
i introspected to indentify my probs and found them to be :
Weak vocab - because of which i dont understand most things and hence the purpose of reading is not met
getting bored too soon with long articles : this was because of unfamiliarity with the topic and my own not-so-interested attitude towards the language.

It might sound cliched but the first thing i believe which you need to do to improve in english is develop a love for the language . it doesnt mean u go ahead and pick a shakespeare book or Salman rushdie.
it just means that you should be willing to sincerely improve in it.your shoulders shouldnt droop when u pick up then english book. In short you must enjoy the process.

As far as vocab is concerned it can be improved and corrected by reading articles/testimonials of FT, hindu,wall street etc...

Also referring a good dictionary is imp....TIME books gives around 3000 words which are good to learn....

At the end making it a habbit of watching english movies and news channel will going to upgrade your vocab..

If ur english vocab is weak, u may try reading books on subjects that interest u, so dat u wont be bored. Keep a dictionary at hand and make sure u look up every word that u dont understand. Initially that wud hamper ur reading, and u wud need to check repeatedly but over time, u will see that u need tor efer to the dictionary lesser and lesser. Other than that, u can watch english movies with subtitles which wud help u in sentence construction.Read newspapers, at least the sports section if not the editorials. In any case, read read and read. That's the fastest, best and easiest way to rock VA and learn English.
