Books for CAT preparation

Hello Everyone...
Can you please provide me with a list of books (philosophical) plus links for ebooks which I can read...

Let us try to stick to the purpose of the thread aka books.
other details should be discussed at relevant threads.

Just an observation.

Regards,
Pallavi

I m using Arun Sharma for DI,LR,VA & Arihant for Quant. Are they good & do i need to get any extra material or carry on with them along with a test series?
Thanks.!

To improve your Vocab go for Word power made easy. For RC i suggest u read a lot of articles and books (pls not chetan bhagat!) and try to comprehend what the writer's intentions are, u can even refer arun sharma for RC his book is really good. Moreover vocab can be improved only through a continuous learning process it's not like quant where u can say that u have solved somany problems hence ur prepared.Keep reading, if possible try to write a few articles to test ur english, take mocks, analyse the results and work on the weak areas. I feel this is the only way out with VA. All the best!!

I just heard abt pearson its gud...but Arun sharma is nice too. Compare both the books n then decide. In fact for RC's i'l recommend u Arun Sharma. U can download many notes n books which can help u in sentence correction...do search on net u'l get those materials.

Hi,

I m weak in english grammer

Can u share notes mentioned of sentence correction?

Thanks in advance
Life is not about destiny,it's about Journey..So njoy and prepare

hi puys,

i will be appaearing for cat 2012.
These are the books i have finalised for preparing,

Quant:
Arun sharma
Think without Ink

VA:
wren and martin
Norman Lewis WordPowerMadeEasy

But For DI and LR i dunno which books to follow.Btw this is my weakest section.

1)Apart from these I am using IMS material which i bought in 2008.
Will they be useful or will there be any changes in the new material since the cat has gone online after 2008.

2)Pl suggest books for di and lr.

Dear Shree,
u may go through arun sharma also for di n lr....cause they give us the basics to gain a level for CAT...As far as IMS mat. is concerned, i don't think any new changes will happen after online pattern....cause mode of exam is changed bt pattern so far is almost same....so u may use the material...if u want to buy new one then take other institute material like Time or CL...take care

I had 39 %ile in CAT-2009 di/lr section. improved a lot in these 4 years
according to me, the best way to learn it is to go through basic TIME booklets and then solve as many caselets as you can from different sources.
TIME aimcats offer tough DI/LR caselets

I prepared SC using Manhattan GMAT.. Now., will it be useful for CAT, XAT SNAP etc too?

Indeed i have also started with time and the book is very precise...and well soughted out...

"Arun Sharma Quantitative Aptitude" is the best book for quantitative aptitude preparation. Moreover the arun sharma books for cat are the best.

Practice is the key for quick answers. Vedic maths methods can be applied for quick calculations.
