I applied in the first round. Got an admit from Case. They haven't yet decided on schol but have mentioned that they will decide upon the schol in few weeks to come. Got the admit on 19th of dec through e-mail.

Interview questions were usual..
Do go through the school's website thoroughly. It would be better if you go through various pages of school's website an hour before your interview.

Thanks a lot for the reply! That was truly helpful!

Hi,
Thank you for being here. Your inputs will surely help us take an informed decision.
Here goes list of questions,

How is Case for finance concentration?
How is the quality of faculties and teaching?
How is the job scenario there?
Do companies come on the campus for recruitment?
What is the percentage of students who get full time offer by the end of the program?
What is the avg package they get?
How is the life on campus?

(a bit personal que if I may ask) Why have you chosen to join case? (B'coz I think with your profile you could have got admits from better b-schools)

Thanks!

Hey I am sorry for the delay in replying. Actually wanted to be sure of the answers before i reply anything to you.

The finance professors at case are really good. One of the professor works with FED Cleveland. Case has a very strong faculty for finance.

The faculty overall is really good and you will learn a lot. The school might be low on rankings but i found th faculty to be good and most of my classmates would agree with this.

Regarding the job scenario, the first thing i would like to say is that it is really very difficult to find a job. You have to be very proactive. You have to work really hard to find a job. However if u are persistent with your job search, you will find a job. Almost everyone looking for a job has found one in the past, but till now none of the seniors (referring to international students) have found a job. The job scenario is definitely improving and hopefully things should be better by the time I finish the course.

Companies do come to campus for recruitment but its very different from the way its done in India. Over here the companies interested in hiring visit the campus during career fair. Many companies also come for information sessions. The key difference is that it is more kind of a platform to interact with the companies, but you have to apply to the companies yourself.

Cleveland is certainly not the best place to be in US. They call Cleveland the dying city. The winter is pretty harsh here. But some of the advantages are
the cost of living is much less than say NY.
The summer is really good. I have adjusted to cleveland and i feel that its not so bad.

Regarding other colleges, I was pretty late with my application process and hence couldnt get through a better school.
I hope this helps in making you a better decision. Please let me know if you need any further clarification

Hi,

I have received an admit from weatherhead last week. Would you know by when scholarship decisions will be out? Also, how does the GA process work. Can i apply for it before i accept the offer from the college

Thanks!

this is a expensive school though as compared to its MBA rank, a not top 50 school but charge as a top 20 school tuition. do you think it worth $$ and time?
I knew it's hard to say worth/ or not, as it all depend on what you want to get out of from the program but still wondering~ someone already in the prgram can you pls drop few lines here

Hi WeatherHeadmba..Your posts have been helpful.

I got my Scholarship details couple days back from CWRU. I have been offered 31K USD p.a. I also have an admit from Tulane Freeman with 60% Scholarship. I would like your suggestion on selecting between them.

I am from IT industry and my plans are to get back to IT. Which location and program do you think will offer better chances for my plans. Please advice

Hi WeatherHeadmba,

I have some questions for you. In which concentration you are doing your MBA in CWRU? Is it Finance or any other? Do CRWU have investment fund like any other university where student gets hand on experience about investment management. What it is total cost of tuition for 2 years in CWRU? Also let me know what is the cost of living expense that I need to show in I20. Please, advice.

Hi Guys!! People who have decided/Thinking/waiting/ to go for WSOM can come together on FaceBook by joining this group "Weatherhead School of Management - 2011 Admits". It would be great to hear views and experiences as we prepare to go for MBA

@blackswan- When the GA positions are open, you will be notified by email and you can apply accordingly. I am not sure if u can apply before the college starts.
@suzu- case is definitely an expensive school. It is not worth the money that you pay. However, most of the students applying do get a scholarship. You can make your decision based on the scholarship amount that you get.

@aksMBA- you have got a good scholarship amount, so your expenses would be less. I am not sure about Tulane, so its best that you get views from Weatherhead students and Tulane students and compare accordingly.
Cleveland is not big on IT industry so it would not be a very good option. However, Cleveland is big on healthcare industry and if you are interested in IT in healthcare industry there are many opportunities.
@debojyotisaha- I m considering my MBA in finance but i have kept my options open and would aim to get a balance of all the streams. There is no such investment fund, but the courses here are technology supported, hence we run simulations based on real world scenario. I think that it would give u a decent exposure.
please refer the college website for the fees and once you get an admit, you can write to the international student services and they will help you will the I20 details

There is one more thing that i request all the students who are considering to join Weatherhead. Make sure that you are aware and acquaint yourself with the themes that the school offers namely design and sustainability. you will take courses related to either of the 2 themes and they are mandatory in the second year. Year after year (my seniors and people from my batch) are unaware of this till the time they join the school and the themes are such that it might not appeal to every1. I really dont want any1 to repent the choice of school after coming here like many of my peers are doing.
Hoe this helps

Hello Weatherhead MBA,

I have an admit from the schools mentioned below:

W&M;: I have got a scholarship of USD 12,000 for the 1st year and a graduate assistantship of USD 4000 for the second year which also reduces my tution to instate fees.

Case Reserve: I have received a scholarship amounting to USD 17,000 per year.

USC: Got an admit for the IMA program with a scholarship of USD 20,000

Crosby MBA (University Of Missouri): Got a admit but no scholarship. THey have mentioned that many people get scholarship by the third or the fourth semester.

Cranfield University (UK)-MSc in Strategic Management

Can you please help me in choosing a the best option. I am currently thinking about going ahead with the W&M; option, however I would like your advice on selecting the best option in regards to ROI factor for each of the school.

Please help me out in selecting the best option.

Thank you.

Aniruddha Abhyankar.

Hi WeatherheadMBA,

Thank You for the much helpful information that we are getting from you. I got the admit from Weatherhead School and University of San Diego in california, San Diego. so i need to decide which one is better option. Can you help me find find the better option considering the following factors:

1. The odds of getting job after MBA
2. The type of jobs and the companies that post MBA students get into.
3. Lastly the location of the school, which location would be helpful considering long term job opportunites and big companies proximity.

thanks...
