Hope you are doing well with your preparations. I am writing this to share couple of things that might be helpful for you all:Â
- MBA is over-hyped in India and itâs not a magic wand that would change your destiny. Itâs just any other post graduate study.Â
- All aspirant aspire to join IIM which is fare but there are also some good non-IIMs. So donât ignore themÂ
- Donât do an MBA just because others are doing, you want to prove something to someone, its escape route from your job, you donât have any other option, donât have clarity in terms of career goals etc. Rather find your own reason. MBA is cost intensive and a fast paced program and you will have to perform under extreme pressure. So, have a right mind set and right reasonÂ
-Set realistic targets and have realistic expectations. Donât just think that the moment you will be out of college, you will be put into some CXO position having lavish lifestyleÂ
- Getting a call and converting it are two different things and both require different skillsets. Just because you have got calls doesnât mean you are through. So instead of getting your profile verified for call and conversion chances please start preparing wellÂ
- No interview is random and there is some logic in each and every question. Thing is you need to be able to build that connection. Many a times some random questions are asked intentionally to test a particular skillsetÂ
- Real competition starts from here when you will be competing against some of the best brains. So drop all your past achievement's ego and start fresh. That was pastÂ
- Be always very humble, grounded and respectful to everyone and esp. to those who have made you reach here. You might lose out on these qualities once you reach an IIM which you should neverÂ
- There is not much difference between one who make it to some good bschool and one who canât. There are many out there who are more talented than you think you are. Itâs just that on that particular day they were not as lucky as you were and that doesnât take away any credit from themÂ
- Getting into an IIM should be a start to good career opportunities rather than endÂ
- Last no but not the least, placement figures and rankings should not be the deciding factor of a bschool selection decision rather it should be only one of the factors. Bschools are educational institutes not placement agencies

I went into threads(2017-2019) of many good colleges(especially IIT's) and was very happy to see that PR team of that college saying "decent chances" ,"fair chances to convert" and all for 90,91,92 percentilers in CAT. Really I felt so relaxed. Yesterday for time pass I just looked into the threads(2016-2018) of all these colleges. In 2017-2019 thread of one college(Top 30) they said fair chances to convert for a 92% iler and in the 2016-2018 thread of that same college a 96%iler got WL 249 after the Interview and finally he was not selected. Check the last year threads too guys. It is fun.Â
