Few basic last mile tips for CAT (not much help for mock maulers).

Keeping it very simple (most of them are quite obvious) -

1. Attempt each section in 2/3 rounds. Identify which questions to leave for the end or not attempt at all. Don't waste any time in experimenting during the actual CAT. Save that precious time for other solvable questions, there are many.

2. LET IT GO. Do not remain stuck on a question/set for too long. Just let it go.

3. Stick to your strengths and the strategy/approach that you've followed so far in mocks, don't try and do anything significantly different. (Eg. if say you always have approached RCs first and then VA, do not try and mix up things, better to stick to the same approach)

4. Take it just like any other mock tests (Assuming you took your mocks seriously). Don't let the CAT hype build over you.

5. Do not eat too much or too little before the paper.

6. Reach the centre at least 30 mins before and get the feel of the place, will help you be calm. People there will be studying/discussing stuff. Try and avoid getting into all these discussions. You've no idea what might put you off.

7. Please remember, if there are surprises in the paper, it's for every single test taker. So, don't let any such surprises affect your paper. Similarly, a tough section/paper is for everyone, not just you. Don't let this affect your subsequent sections.

8. Just because you did excellent in the first 2 sections, doesn't mean you can take the 3rd one lightly. Please keep your focus for the entire 3 hrs.

Never Settle

Edit 1 - General pointers on 'Things to do' in these 5 days

1. Revise all QA concepts/tricks/shortcuts thoroughly at least once. The objective must be to recall them immediately.

2. You can write 1-3 mocks in these 5 days. Totally depends on you. I would suggest you to write sectional tests as well. Just make sure that the mock that you write is not too difficult. Maybe a missed/unproctored SIMCAT/AIMCAT.

3. If possible (for non-working junta), try and study/write a mock at the same 3 hour slot as your actual CAT. Follow this for the next 5 days. Will somewhat help your body clock to get in sync and you might feel just a bit less sleepy/exhausted/bored/tired.

4. Do not try and master anything new in these 5 days (especially for VARC). If you couldn't master it in weeks, highly unlikely that you can in these 5 days. So, just accept this and focus more on your strengths.

Hi,

Can someone help me out in finding CAT 2012 solved paper?

It has been 1 year! 29th November 2015, I remember how nervous I was, despite knowing that my preparation is up to the mark. I understand that most of you will be nervous, and you should be, for a little bit of anxiety never lets you get complacent. However, do remember that if you have worked hard enough, and you keep a calm head on the 4th of December, you will, most likely, end up on the better side of the 99th Percentile.

As far as the last minute tips go, I have nothing much to add to what @Never_settle has already said. I do expect a tough DILR section (Purely my opinion, though). Having said that, I also believe that a tougher section is better for the well prepared. So don't fret if you see questions that are not from your comfort zone. If you have been doing well in mocks and you find the questions tough, rest assured that everybody is having a hard time attempting them. Don't overattempt just for the sake of attempting in such a section. I attempted only 18 questions in the DILR section last year, one of which was definitely incorrect, and I ended up with 99.54 in DILR. So, in case you encounter a tougher than expected section, don't panic. It is never as bad as it looks.

IIFT is done. Some of you would have performed really well, while others might not be too satisfied. My advice: LET IT GO. CAT and IIFT are two entirely different ball games and there is no point in correlating performances in both the exams.

Another word of advice. Don't think about how you did in the previous section or what would you do in the next. Give undivided attention to what is presented on the screen. Each one of you must have developed your own test taking strategy in terms of time management, what to attempt and what not to and stuff like that. So I don't find any reason for you to tinker with that based on what I say, and hence, I would avoid saying anything about all these things.

I wish all of you all the very best! Do remember, the effort is most definitely worth it. Hoping to see some of you at IIMA next year.

Good Luck! Do Well!  :)

"9.   Candidates wearing shoes or any other closed footwear, WILL have to leave the footwear (including socks) outside the exam hall.  You can wear open Footwear like chappals, sandals etc." Wht is this😂😂😂

What are the CAT centers in Kolkata and Durgapur?
