Ratio of milk and water in a mixture is 7:3. If 40 litres of mixture is replaced with water, ratio becomes 3:2 . Find initial quantity of milk.

A cylindrical container is 4/7 full. From this, if x litres is removed, the container becomes only 1/4 full. If 35 L is now added to the container it will become half full. Find x and v ?

Two alloys of iron have different percentage of iron in them .The first one weights 6 kg and second one weights 12 kg. One piece each of equal weight was cut off from both the alloys and the first piece were alloyed with the second alloy and the second piece alloyed with the first one. As a result, the percentage of iron became the same in the resulting two new alloys. What was the weight of each cut-off piece?

A salesman sells two kinds of trousers: cotton and woollen. A pair of cotton trousers is sold at 30% profit and a pair of woollen trousers is sold at 50% profit. The salesman has calculated that if he sells 100% more woollen trousers than cotton trousers, his overall profit will be 45%.
