Hi everyone. This is a question from Quantum Cat. The approach that I have used is as follows: To cover 0 m : 1st 1m up then 1m down ,so total 15 seconds Next 1 m is covered, in 20+ 5 = 25seconds. Thus in total 0+1+2+3+......+9 metres covered in 15+25+35+......+105 seconds . So a total of 45 m covered in 600 seconds. Last 5 m covered in 50 seconds. Hence, my answer comes out to be : 650 seconds or 10 min 50 seconds. The correct answer given in the book is (a) 9 min 10 sec or 550 seconds. From where do I get an extra 100 seconds. My approach seems perfectly fine to me. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with it?
