LAST 3 DAYS to CAT. Dont get tensed/ frustrated by what you have not read. Just focus on your strong area and do the extensive revision. CAT or any competitive exam do not demand you to know the full syllabus or attempt all questions unlike board/university exams.
So, be it LR, DI,RC or any other topic you are strong at, focus yourself on that. Also, dont get stuck to a question which is from a topic you studied most. Jump from a question if you are taking more than 2-3 minutes. Dont make it an ego issue that why a question from my favourite topic cant be solved.Lastly, the topic which you have not read, dont presume that you cant solve it. For example, few questions of geometry and algebra can easily be solved using ratio-proportion & using options given. So, do give it a try by JUGAAR method. Feel good about yourself & be proud of your capabilities and what you are. SLEEP TIGHT ON 15th NIGHT. ALL D BEST!! #Copied.

Guys... I know I am posting a wrong question in a wrong thread! I have cleared UPSC prelims and appearing for CAT as well. Well prepared for CAT with getting 90 - 95 percentile in mocks (CL, AIMCATS and Test Funda) . With NC-OBC reservation,I am hoping to get calls from most of the IIMs. My question is should I go for IIMs or devote my time in the IAS-Mains preparation more. Kindly suggest !
Guys we have all learnt various types of partition and distribution methods. This one i came across recently and feel is a good one to know. Suppose there are 5 soldiers and 3 distinct regiments (R1,R2,R3). Hence no. of ways of distributing 5 soldiers to 3 regiments such that each regiment has at least one soldier is not 3^5 (this one also gives cases when 1 is empty and 2 regiments are empty so we have to subtract these). Any 1 is empty can be calculated in 3c1* 2^5 (i.e. when R1 is empty R2 and R3 can be arranged in 2^5 ways and so on) but we will add back cases when 2 are empty (because these are already being counted twice in previous case). Hence add back 3c2*1^5.
So final solution is 3^5 - 3c1*2^5 + 3c2*1^5.
The general formula for distributing m distinct items in n distinct things is n^m + (-1)^1 nC1 (n-1)^m + (-1)^2 nC2 (n-2)^m .... (-1)^(n-1) nC(n-1) (1)^m
General term is sigma ( r = 1 to n) (-1)^(n-r) *C(n,r)*r^m
