I am keen towards taking additional certification exams for MBA in finance. I will be joining full time course this year. Can anyone tell what should be the ideal approach if I want to take up CFA exam?? How much time one should devote it towards the preparation? And how to enroll, course material etc?? Any other useful information which you can post it on this thread will be highly appreciated. And is there any other exam apart from CFA?
i have heard about SHRM.....is it gud or worth doing?
shd i do it after my MBA or simultaneously??
well even i don't know about this certifications and also all the popular certifications are in the field of finance.
but if someone could complete CS , it is surely a huge added advantage because HR work and CS work can be co related ..otherwise i don't think so there is any need to do any certification for HR. it is job Experience that will be counted

CFA and FRM both related to finance and if you are not keen on making a career in finance then there's no point in taking either of them. For marketing, you can always go for CIM certifications to add value to your resume.
As far as CABM is concerned,it's a well recognised course and value much outside the india than in india. Its a generic certificate course giving you overview of Management and some important aspects.
Its basically for 1-year MBA program as the B-schools offering 1-year programs select candidates with a good amount of work-experience wherein most of the cases the candidates doesn't have managerial experience. So,having CABM helps you fulfill those voids in your work-ex and resume.

You can look for FRM as well.
CFA offers roles in investment banking, equity research, securities etc.
While,FRM provides you opportunity in risk management and modelling etc.
Both are highly recognised courses and CFA is a holistic course touching upon most of the aspects of finance. While FRM is a niche course in risk management.
CSCP course ...how much is it?
in the website they havent specified the fees...
plz help...

hi,
While applying for CAPM there are two education categories you can fall into:
Project Management Experience
(1500 hours of professional experience on a project management team)
You will be required to fill out detailed documentation of your work, on the application form, if this option is chosen.
OR
Project Management Education (23 contact hours of formal education)
it can be any of the following:
- University/College academic and continuing education programs
- Distant education, etc.
Become a PMI member, apply online for the exam, pay the membership fees.
Within a year you have 3 chances to clear the exam.
For preperation i heard 'A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge' is a good book.

If your experience is as a member of a project management team then it should count.
This is a proffesional certification and hold good value but weather will you get a lead role in pre sales or not is difficult to tell. You will need to consult smebody in the role.
could anyone please throw some light on "certified financial technician program"

Hello Puys
I am a final year mech. engg. Student. I gave Cat this year(92 percentile). During the interviews , interviewers repeatedly doubted whether i would be able to handle the courses related to finance and commerce(I wanted finance spec.) since i had never studied them and i was never really able to convince them. May be this was one of the reason why i was not able to convert most of the calls. Now i have decide to take up the job that i have got through campus placement(FMCG Sector) and again try for mba after 2 years.
Please suggest what courses and studies should I take up during these 2 years not only to build up my profile but also get in-depth knowledge in finance and commerce subjects. I wanted to start right from scratch, have never studied these subjects. Also the place where I am posted is very far from big cities. So I am most preferably looking for some online courses.
Please Help of Out..
Thanks to all in advance.
Hi there,
Look as you are interested in finance and want to take it up in MBA first thing i will suggest is to get out of FMCG. as it is nowhere related to your dreams.
It will land you in a marketing role straight away. i suggest you start by buildinng your finance awareness by going through business newspapers & NCFM material. ie download the content and go through it (no need to spend money .)
Then switch to some financial firm and take up some certification in finance. The job experience and the certifications will help you convince the interviewers.
If you are not able to understand the NCFM material directly take up Finance and banking fundamentals training course. It will help you build base in finance.
