Hi all, i have gone thru this entire thread and im disappointed to find that the only marketing certification mentioned is CIM-UK. But i am told that a marketing MBA covers the topics under this certification. Then what is the point in taking this certification? Mine is the usual story....trying for CAT 2010,poor profile, wish for a specialisation purely in marketing. The domain I target is FMCG/retail. I do not wish to boost my profile by doing a certification which will be useless or which i will learning again. Hoping the puys wil be able to help me in this regard. Wil a certification in supply chain management help me? If yes, where can i do it?
Can anyone reply on the above? I have seen the official site, India is not one of the center where they offices. I have a PGD in Marketing from TSM. Would be great if anyone can suggest any good short term course in digital marketing. Really interested in it. Thanks in advance!!

I am B.Tech in ECE and working in Telecom Industry for the past 3 yrs in Technical Domain only. Now i want to switch from Technical to Marketing domain irrespective of the sector. I am willing to join IT,Pharma or Telecom for Marketing domain.
Pls suggest me some additional courses or seminars for Marketing which are for short duration as i'll b giving GMAT this year only.
Hi guys. I am going to give Cat '10 but i also want to have some certificates in finance as i am interested in that. I heard Ncfm is easy , but not much value while CFA is difficult and is very valuable. I am in a dilemma to concentarte on CAT only or do some Cfa module also .
i will be passing out in a months time from a premier engg college(faculty of engineering, jadavpur university ,kolkata).my marks in graduation(bachelor of electrical engg) are very less (around 69-70%).my class 10 and 12 marks are 92.6% and 90% respectively(board icse).due to my abysmal graduation performance which apart from consisting of low percentage is very inconsistent as i have scored high in some sems and very low in others i feel getting in to a premier engg college will be difficult .i cant change my 4 years of engg marks now.but i do aspire and also belive that i am good enough to study in a good B-school (like the IIMs ,XLRI,FMS,etc).i will be going for a job with a core company (mcnally bahart engg) where i will be working as a project engineer holding designation of associate manager after my training.
my query is how can i make my profile better now that i have screwed up my graduation.what can i do to add something extra to my profile.i am sure i will be able to crack CAT sometime or the other.and i am going to be truthful in my interview that it was my mistake that my performance in graduation was not satisfactory and i took things too easy.but i want to convince them that i have taken corretive measures and have worked hard to prove that i have it in me and have tried to rectify my mistake and have not given up.plz guide wat academic,extra-curricular or any other step i shld take .i have joined rotary abt 3 months back.i am going to learn a foreign language from next week(french).is there any course which gives a diploma i shld pursue to add something more to my profile.plz suggest cos i dont want to give up my dreams for the mistake i have done .thanks a million to all of u

Firstly, never let go of your confidence and self-belief.
Secondly, since you have almost graduated, the best corrective measures will not be any extra-curricular exercise, but rather your achievements at work. So ideally you should now focus on what will help differentiate your performance in your company. Insights for that could be gained after interacting with people at your workplace, since people from the industry are who can guide you best on this. You must realise that any hard-work you put in after graduation doesn't really mitigate your inconsistent performance during graduation.
As for low grad scores, you could introspect and see if there is something positive that you could talk about regarding that period in the interview.
Thats a WOnderful thread..am sure most of us over here would be interested in Marketing Mgmt profiles like Media mgmt, Brand management etc Any certification course to boost our case in Marketing areas?

Hi, as Pratyush said don't lose confidence and now try to achieve at the JOB front. Also if you are sure about the specialization in MBA say finance then you can look for some simple courses to show your interest in the feild while sitting for the interviews. For finance you can do entry level NCFM certification or take up some banking and finance course from FLIP. Benefit with Flip courses are that you get online training and they are acrredited by good banks like HDFC, KOTAK, etc. which will be a definite value add to your resume.
hey frnds:i am planning to appear in this NCFM certified test but have no idea how to prepare myself for this:|what books should i refer to and how much time do i need to devote in order to crack it::cheers:

ncfm gives u the material for the test. u can also access the same from its site
time needed to clear any module with >90% depends on your previous exposure to finance...i have given 4 modules in 1 day on two occassions n scored above 90% in each with about 15-18 hrs of study in total for 8 modules...i now hold NCMP Level 4 which is the highest level of nse certified mkt professional
Imp Tip : Do not forget to do mock test paper given at site . Also end of chapter exercises are imp .
hey hi guys......i ll be doing MBA in HR.....what certificate courses i can do to add weight to my profile??
well there is as such no popular/ particular certification in HR but CS could be a related certification to some extent only ... otherwise it is only Experience which is counted for HR professionals

NCFM (NSE). There are a total of 7 independent modules. AMFI is usually considered to be the easiest, hence usually the first one that students take. There are also equivalent exams by BSE (BCFM). Almost mandatory in Financial Services sector as everyone seems to crack it.
Certified Financial Planner (CFP). This is a core finance course, but advantage viz-a-viz CFA/CA/CPA is that its much shorter.
iCISA. Information Systems Audit - for Chartered Accountants.
APICS CPIM/CIRM/CSCP. These are domain certifications in Supply Chain Mgt. The basic course is CPIM which comprises of 6 modules. Conducted by IMRMI in most Indian metros. CPIM (or atleast its basic modile) is fairly common amongst MBA students n good b-schools.
ITIL ITSM. Has 2-3 different levels.
Six Sigma. Quality certifications. Hal multiple levels denoted by "belts" - green, black etc
PMI. PMI has two different exams. The CAPM can be taken with lesser work experience.
Nice compilation no doubt. I would like to add that a serious hardcore finance guy can also look for the FRM certification from GARP but its a bit high level and cost on the higher side. Also there are some finance courses & certification on Finitiatives Learning India Pvt. Ltd i took 1 it was decent and easy to understand. Not sure about the certification haven't done till now will be doing soon :).
