Certifications for profile building

Thanks ajay..But I have a doubt that As I have taken marketing as my majors and also have a inclination towards finance..will the below profile suit me as I am up for my interns :

The Primary Responsibility of an intern is to
understand the needs of the customer andsuggest a product or service, suiting the requirement of the customer-Customer dealing for financial products and services, i.e. Equity, Commodities, CurrencyDerivatives, Mutual Funds and DEMAT accounts
.-Conducting market analysis for about the financial market trends.
-An intern is required to visit potential Customers and Clients for New BusinessOpportunities-Should be good at understanding the financial market.?

2)
I have heard that starting a marketing career in Insurance sales is deemed not good..?
then the question is that the above profile is different from insurance ..rite?

3)
with this route will I be able to go into wealth manager role?
4)
what are the future prospects..as I have heard that the role has high pressure and meeting sales target..?

Thanks
@Upadhyay123 The profile you have mentioned is pure Sales I believe. Not just insurance, but many financial products. According to what I know:

Asset management refers to providing investment products & advisory services to individual clients & institutional investors.

Wealth management refers to specialized services provided to meet the wealth planning, investing & financial management needs of Wealthy & High Net Worth individuals.

The profile you have mentioned looks more of Asset Management. Moving into Wealth Management after that will not be tough, but then not easy also, because the customer portfolio in both profiles is different. Wealth Management will involve suggesting a different category/level of investment avenues compared to Asset Management.

Asset management profile will be tough with high pressure and meeting sales target. Wealth management also is tough with high targets because after all you're dealing with HNI customers. So the basic requirement will be interest or liking to do that kind of job, at least as a career start. You have prospects to go on to be Wealth Manager, Investment Banker etc. but then all depending on your level of interest and smart moves you'll make to change gears and make your moves (within the same organization or switch) at the right time.

I want to build up my profile as a Consultant. Can anybody tell me the relevant certifications in this field.

@Improver A Consultant can be in any area/field. Which area are you looking for? Finance, Marketing, Operations, HRM, IT? There is no certification as such which is a ticket to being a Consultant. You can become a Consultant in IT firms like Infosys, Wipro, HCL etc. (SAP Consulting, Oracle Consulting etc.) without any certifications. Just the MBA would suffice. If you're an expert in Finance then Financial Consultant. So becoming a consultant is not going to happen with some random certification. You will get a designation of Consultant in many IT firms after your MBA, but then to be a true CONSULTANT you'll need to have some work experience and acquire the business/domain knowledge.
@Mad-Head Ya I have heard about CFA but I don't want such a hectic life of Finance (just a personal opinion. no offence to anyone). I want to know about other certifications like CFM for marketing.
@ajaygovindg I would like to know about certifications other than CFA which will be useful in building up my profile in consulting field and will help me to get into the consulting giants like BCG, Mckinsey, etc. I would like to do something being in touch with my engineering field (not IT as I dont know abc of programming etc). So can you suggest me how to build up my profile (except through full time work experience as i want to get in some bschool asap) which would help me to get in some good bschool in india or abroad and then to some good career.

Any idea or views on Certifications provided by FLIP in Finance ? How good is it & is it very well accepted by corporates

@Improver I don't think there is any certification as such to help get into those Consulting giants on a fast track. As per the specializations offered in B-schools outside India, a specialization in strategy helps. Its not offered in majority B-schools in India except like at ISB, IIM PGPX, XLRI GMP etc. So those are MBA graduates who are also having significant work exp, and hence have some domain knowledge to back up their MBA specialization to get into a Consulting role.

The IT Consulting I said before has no relation to coding, not even remotely! SAP is a business tool and organizations like Infosys, Wipro etc. have experts who implement it at client site and SAP consultant's job is to help in that end-to-end.

This is my understanding. Maybe some other puys here will be able to throw more light on this. Btw I was wondering, you're talking about getting into some B-school asap, but I already see that you have an IITK badge!! So you're doing graduation there?
@ajaygovindg @Mad-Head Thanks for such a deep guidance. Yes I m 4th year undergrad from Mechanical engg. department. I have made up my mind to get a MBA degree this year or next year. I have given my CAT exam this year with last 2 weeks preparation(approx 20 mocks in those days with 80-90+%iles but a little analysis) and sole aim of getting in IIMC or at last FMS(bcoz of its ROI). I was a NC OBC candidate so thought getting a 95%ile+ and clearing cutoffs of IIMC & FMS will be a lot easier the main exam . This casual attitude reflected in my exam also as I was able to give an attempt of 21-22 ques in quant(had 2-3 wrong questions in the paper hence didn't attempted those) and 29 attempt in verbal (don't know anything about accuracy but i had 75-80% in mocks). So I don't have any idea if I will be getting a call and will be able to convert it. I have XAT left but now thinking of sitting in placement being motivated by Pre-placement talks of BCG/Mckinsey etc though I didnt got shortlisted as most of the companies preferred Masters students .
Since, getting to a top position in the corporate world is my aim I am building up my profile as a Technical management one. Even I did 5 MBA courses related to organisation behavior, HR, management of technology, economics, administrative psychology, global communication in my Bachelor's degree only. And now I am aiming higher to build up my profile better and better in these years (not more than 2) which will help me to get into some of the top Consulting/operations/marketting/IT(if they dont want coder) firms after my MBA.
So I think i have given you a glimpse of the thought process i m having these days.
Please guide me through my situation of building up my profile better with some insight over placement which will be starting this December.
Money is no issue(like getting into finance) but having a career with lot of adventures, excitement and global exposure is my long term aim.

Thanks in advance...

Hi,
I'm pursuing my MBA from NIT Calicut , 1st year....
I want to do some certifications in either of marketing, operations or finance....

i have some experience in search engine optimization (SEO). Will it prove useful in my marketing profile ?
