@singhaditya21 Hi Aditya,

Congratulations! And I don't see where you have a problem πŸ˜ƒ (unless of course you are referring to a problem of plenty!)

As for certifications, I doubt the top management consulting (assuming that's what you meant when you said consulting) firms would weigh in those a lot. In my knowledge, the top ones are really picky (top 5-10% in IIM A/B/C have a realistic interview shot) but the ones after those tend to be a little more accommodating. Sig sigma is helpful because manufacturing/operations are perennial interest areas for consulting firms. I am not as confident aboout PMP.

I'm not really a big fan of certifications unless the knowledge from them is being used in some way. If you're considering a certification, please consider how you're going to sell it to an interviewer 2 years from today because I don't see how you will be using what you learn from it anytime soon.

I would spend these 2 months thoroughly researching the schools I've admits from, reaching out to alumni who have the kind of roles I'm interested in, and may be reading about consulting just to get an idea of what they do and what's life actually like on the other side.

Wish you the best!

Cheers

Hi,
Could anyone tell me what certifications would help complement a sales and marketing experience. Would certifications in Six Sigma and the ones offered by APICS help?
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

I am going to join a MBA college in the US this fall and I wanted to add to my profile by getting a certifcation in SCM.
I have gone through the certifications offered by APICS , PMI and Six Sigma...
My question is which one is the most highly rated or reputed among the 3 or their pro's and con's.

My profile is BE Comp & 3 years work exp in Handling a Manufacturing Business... I hope to join a company in the US after graduation & work thus I would like to build my profile since my acads are avg.

Its a generic project management certification . Its about following best practices in project management across domains .. For supply chain management we have totally different set of certifications by APICS

hey guys, help please !!

i completed btech last year and i'm a fresher and i'm also not sure about my field of specialization in mba !!
and i really want to improve my profile, so what all certified courses could i do ??
and what's the duration of the courses ??
thanks

Continuing the discussion on SCM certification, I am also planning to take a certification soon on supply chain management, but have been hovering around among mainly 3 options.

1. CPSM - by ISM
2. CSCP - by APICS
3. PLS - by ASTL
After a bit more research, found that PLS is more of logistics oriented and hence now am planning to take between CPSM and CSCP. With a bit more research, finding CPSM more related to my career aspiration, but would still request you all to let me know your views on CPSM vs CSCP.
Three more factors under consideration -
1. Prior work ex in SCM - Both the exams need prior work ex in SCM, CPSM - 3 years and CSCP - 5 years if you are a graduate. When I spoke to Indian counterparts of both these instis, both promised me that there will not be any problem if my total experience reaches that level - be it not in SCM
2. Cost factor
CSCP - Rs. 40K for exam + Rs. 70K for the original material + membership cost
CPSM - Rs 7500 for exam (2500 per level) + Rs 15000 for material + $99 for certificate (no membership cost for students, for professionals there is some cost for memership)
3. Syllabus - Almost the same in two, CPSM more operation oriented, CSCP has some flavor of technology

No doubt CSCP is more renowned, but costlier too. One more thing, can we somehow avoid paying the 70K for material, like the jugar we have for CFA

Incidentally was just visiting Accenture website, and they consider both equally.

Guys am zeroing on CPSM, but still would like to know your thoughts.

Anyone here who gave PMP ceritfications.. wanted to know the process around that..

Thanks in Advance

NCMF adds only to your knowledge and doesn't give any advantage during Interview.
Its better to do CFA from US as ICFAI one is not so recognized and most people would have US CFA so they would definitely have advantage over you.

i am a mechanical engineer with 3 yr work ex in structural production...

i am going to join pgdm operation this yr in kj som .. and i would like to pursue CSCP and i would request you to suggest is there any better course option available for me
