Hi Dear, these days even a small trader takes NCMF. so it carries value only at the entry level post only. For the Business Analyst Post, you should try for CFA or MBA( from a reputed college).
I wish to know as to whats the acceptance of the CIM-UK certification in the Indian Industry. Also it would be wonderful if you could give me some reference of people who have already pursued this course. Thanks in Advance..
Chartered instt of Marketing (CIM-UK) certifications. covers most of MBA-mktg coursework, books available in Indian shops, exams in India.all major metro/cities have nodal centers. jain college branch in bangalore. CIM certs valid and respected internationally. chk CIM's site.
i am a current final year of computer engg but i want to pursue a career in finance so which all certifications i should opt for whats the one with NSE?? PLEASE tell me about it and its eligibility criteria (if any)

for others i think it depends upon ur personal choice ...like they have also Mutual fund and derivatives market .
they dont help u in getting a job ....but do help in profile building .
I also want to complete -debt market -commodities makrjet

you can try sas certification from sas institute ( main)..SAS | Business Intelligence and Analytics Software it cost around 7500 rs.. for clearing this certificate you should read sas book named "little sas book..".
QUOTE=prashoo;621573]Hi All
So far in this thread certifications pertaining to the domain have been discussed. Can anybody throw light on certifications in SAS and Data Warehousing. I guess these areas are really coming up and one needs to have to look at them.
A business analyst is a techno-functional role and hence I feel technical certifications may also be useful.
Can anybody throw light on the tools and technologies which a business analyst should equip himself with.
Certifications for *just* profile building ?? Doesnt make sense to me !!
If you are really interested in the field and wanna get to know more about it certifications make sense. U shud run after these certifications only if you are dead sure about what u wanna get out of em and not just because some idiot says its gonna make a good bullet point on ur CV or the friendly neighborhood ramu is doin it. 75% of the people Ive come across dont even bother to know how that certification is gonna help them (B-skoolers included)
I personally am beyond the stage where I can screw my life up just to get another certification or a bullet point on my CV which will help me get n more shortlists.
Jo pasand hai woh karo, baaki sab bakwaas hai π
it would make more sense to urself n your CV if u start off with the beginners' module in financial markets..but be sure of what u want to do,not just for addition sakes!

thanks for the info...actually, i just gave the mock test online for the beginners module, it was pretty easy, passed it with around 75%...i have been trading and investing in the markets for the last 3-4 years, so i guess it helped π ...so i dont think getting this certificate will take much time...so what should i do next? please advise...
Since I am interested in Finance I can only talk abt certifications related to the field of finance.. This thread titles "certifications for profile building" but i do hope ppl do stuff which not just add a bullet point in ur CV but also something in which u r interested in and not just waste money and time without knowing how much this certifications carry weight... Most of the ppl here are talkin abt NSE/BSE certifications in capital, derivatives, commodities market, depositories etc.. i have done a few certifications in derivatives and capital market.. Very frankly speakin i also did it for profile building but the truth is this NSE/BSE certification really don't carry any weight.. this is my personal experience... even if u do this certifications, u will gain basic knowledge but no major "profile building" will happen.. If u seriously wanna build profile in finance then CFA/FRM/PRM are best options, agreed they take time, are costly and difficult but they add more value both to ur CV and Knowledge.. Neways, if u just wanna again gud knowledge in derivatives market without a bullet point on ur CV read John C Hull.. And just for TCS guys if u want to learn something abt finance then TCS has internal certifications from FTC in Investment Banking, Wealth Mgmnt,etc.. u get certificates for it(so one more bullet point), u gain something and i feel its better then just orkutin in office :).. so gud option for TCS'ers with less load in office..
P.S. CFA/FRM/PRM themselves are very different from each other, so research well before wat u want to do and i guess there are threads running for all of them on PG..
Is it required to start with the Finance markets: Beginners module
What are the modules to start from basics? What modules take weight in our CV Gonna join IIM Calcutta Want to beef up my CV so asking
I have found modules like Securites market Derivative market n so on Anyone can u help me in the order and preference in which i have to take these modules
There is no specific order in which these modules can be taken. it depends on ur interest..
When u say u gonna join, do u mean u already have acceptance from IIMC? In that case, u may skip the first one and take each module seperately... if no, then it makes sense to proceed one by one..
Is CWA(Institute Of Cost and Works Accountants Of India) qualification valued by Indian and MNC finance companies, especially the ones doing credit rating and equity research? If yes, what kind of profile and what salary is offered to a ICWa(Inter)fresher or ICWA(Final)Fresher
I would like to know about the certification in Insurance Domain. Can anybody guide me on this . I am a SE working for a reputed MNC , would like to move to functional side.

For those who want to do the NSE Module 1 (and are in Mumbai), I'd recommend the BSE Certification in Stock Markets. I've heard that module 1 from NSE is too easy and doesnt cover very many topics. The BSE course has VPs and really really high up people come and explain things which (quite frankly) blew my mind. I was a 3rd year ExTC engineer when I went and the depth of knowledge which these gentlemen radiated was wonderful.
Everything from the sensex to technical analysis, mutual funds to derivatives, futures and options was explained, and to an appropriate depth that too.
Value Addns to the course: It was held on the 19th floor of the BSE bldg and the food was kick-ass! 9am to 6pm for 5 or 6 days of the week culminating in a test about a month later.
Did I like the course? Well, lets just say that the course broadened my mind so much that I decided to change careers. (Individual experience, of course, may vary: there was this guy who played Snake on his cell fone all throughout). Passing the test means an additional certificate from the institute.
Since the course has very high profile teachers, it's not held every month though, you could email troydon byrd at the bse training institute and he'll put you on his mailing list for updates regarding the new courses they're offering.
They (BSE Training Institute) offer training in all kids of courses ranging from Risk Management to Forex markets, M&A; and Advanced Derivatives and Futures.
Cost: Around 4.5k, 25% off if you've a student ID card.
btw, theres also a lecture on internet trading conducted by a guy from icici direct and one on compliance for listing and one on security at the BSE (can't miss this one!) amongst others...
