hi,
I have done my BE and now will do mba. M i eligible for CFA June 2010??

I am a B.Com graduate from Panjab University, Chandigarh and going for my mba batch 2009-2011. Am i eligible.?? And plz give some insight about the study material and fees of each level.

Hi Sandy,
I guess it's good to start early. I would like to start early too. I am currently working in Mumbai. Am working in IT and have no knowledge of finance as such. But I will be joining a Investment Banking S/W product firm and guess the domain knowledge will be quite useful. Even a level -I will give a foothold in this domain. I have gone through other threads of previous members and have gathered that getting the materials is expensive. The best is the AIMR owns material. And one needs to have the latest. Also Stalla is there. Need people to pool in and then get the materials xerox-ed.

This for Sdad and Kishan,
Both of you are eligible. If you are going for MBA then am not sure you will need this, but again it's personal choice. But the exam is expensive and does carry great value. For details it will be great if you can check the older threads @ PG and also the official sites. All the basics about CFA exams have been discussed already in great detail. One is -

No use dicussing the same again here.

hi guys,

thanks for participating.

sdad, ofcourse you are eligible for CFA-USA in my best knowledge because u r graduate.

for every detailed info plz go through www.cfainstitute.org

kishan , you are also eligible.
fees structure for level 1 june-2010 exam is however not available on
the institute's site but will cost about $990 to $1395 depending on
how early you enroll for the exam.
for detailed fees info Fee Schedule

study material is provided by CFA institute on enrollment.
another prep material is available from www.schweser.com for $600 to $1450 and from www.stalla.com.

nilanjan,

good to have you here guy.
i have surfed through the threads you suggested ,couple of days ago.
its an informative one.but it started way back in 2005 ,it also discuss about scope of CFA , cfa from icfai , which one is best cfa-usa or cfa-icfai and other things.

but our thread is specifically focused on cfa level 1 june-2010 exam
and nothing else so i felt the need to start a fresh thread like this.

i appritiate your valuable feed-backs and also the idea of sharing
prep materials.

carry on.

thanks

Hi Sandy,
Where are you from?

Thanks,
Nil...

hi,
can we get ne information abt test centers in INDIA

Hi Sdad,
Currently you need to give the test from somewhere outside India as there is some pending case regarding CFA with the ICFAI CFA, so the test is not conducted here.

You can post http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/need-some-opinions-on-cfa-25012326 here
Thank you.
And you can look here--->> http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/tags/cfa/
Please search here before opening a new thread.

nilanjan , i'm from mp.

sdad, our nearest test centres are kathmandu , colombo , dhaka , karachi, lahore and bangkok. however the case between CFA and icfai is pending , so we hope that we will be able to write june-2010 test in india otherwise keep your passport ready.

Ohk... I have heard that there are shops in Mumbai which sell xerox CFA notes... Let me see if I can get some info on them... We will need more people to share the notes cost if we want to order the latest. We can start with the xerox available already and then with time I am sure more people will be joining us and we can order the newest set. Wat say??

Till the time there is any notification from CFA institute... we can follow the Dec 09 thread... a lot of information is available there...and going through the thread.. a lot of querries will get solved.http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/cfa-level-1-december-2009-25038227
and regarding the center.. last june(june 09 exam) it was decided at the last moment that test can be conducted in india so we can hope(read hope only) that same happens next year too.

Hi All,

Regarding examination center in India, June '09 exam was held in India, mumbai being the centre. However, Supreme court has not given permission yet for the december '09 examination. But the chances are that in future as well the examination will be conducted in India. Lets hope it does!

All the best!

hiii everyone......
I am an IT proffessional. I am aiming for CFA level 1 jun 2010.
Can anyone suggest what sort of opportunities i will have once i clear level 1 and what career direction I should go after that..i.e whether I ll have to go for level 2 straightaway or i ll need some work ex in this field or i ll need to do MBA...

If you are interested to enter the finance domain then you need to go for the next level. But you can take your time as there is no time limit to appear for the next level.
Also IT companies in the BFSI domain do value CFA and in that case you might get some value even for level 1.

Actuallly i was just curious to know whether Mba would be necessary or I should do level 1, optionally change my domain to get some real world experience and go for level 2 or just prepare for level level 2 then go for a domain change. i hope you do understand my query.

Well only with a level 1 and w/o any finance background I am not sure if it will help in switching domains.
