u can buy BA-II plus calci instead of buying d professional one. d former is sufficient for d exam
a request to all newbies who r checking dis topic for d first time:
Pls search the thread for info related to calci/schwester notes etc. i think they have been discussed umpteen no. of times:)
& people who r comfortable wid ebooks can download schwester notes frm sites lyk esnips.com

Hi all,
I am appearing in June 2010 Level-1.
I have scheweser Notes for Dec - 2009. I am in delima whether I should prefer to read from these notes itself or go for a new edition of 2010. (Actually dont want to go for new ones if there is not a significant change in contents).
If anybody can give me the idea about what changes have been made in the new 2010 edition. How different the new edition is from Dec- 2009 edition.
Many thanks in advance for help.

Hi Guys,
But wat i feel is why would laksmi centre give such a reply on askin if the material is different or not. I assume as a businessman why wud he answer d question in such a way: its not different than the Dec 2009 material...why would person running that business want to go for a loss....i am skeptical bout the material...
THink on it...
Hi,
I am planning to give CFA L1 in june 2010. still not registered...saw the deadline as Feb17th...but before i commit myself, can any1 tell if its too late for June2010. ALso since the test can't be taken in India....is there any limit on the number of seats in Kathmandu..if yes then r the seats still avl..
Pls help me out guys.
Hi all!!
Please give some light on calculators as well. Whether "Texas Instruments BA II Plus Professional Financial Calculator" or HP
Many thanks
Hi.. Even I have registered last week only and started studying .. I think we still have enough time. I am working too and trying my best to give at least 25 hours per week in the start and more time in last three months. If you are able to commit for at least 25-30 hours per week from now its not late .... well those who have started before can give proper advice on this.. Early starters please comment on this..
Many thanks
Hey....thanks for replying.....since u registered last week....can u pls tell me if Kathmandu as a center is still avl?

Dear Frnds
I have been going thru various CFA related posts for last few days. Though it is informative, I need further clarifications on the following points
Please provide information/guidance in the following matters :
- For L1 what is the total material required to be studied say whether cfa official material plus schweser notes is sufficient whether stella notes is also required. Total pages & books for each of these study materials. What r question banks and frm where to get previous papers. any other relevant material. In short, please provide the complete list of study material for L1
-Thru some post I understand that material provided by cfa institute covers study material for all the three levels If so, how much is relevant for Level 1
-whether cfa registration and examination cost cover
the cost for official study material or we have to shell out extra bucks for same.
-minimum time period required to pass all the three levels if one starts frm June 2010 L1 Besides how much study time is required to clear L1 (though site mentions 250 hrs, I request for ur experience)
Please clarify If some one clears L1 in june then he can take L2 only next year In June at the earliest
I will really appreciate ur reply as it will help me decide
whether to go for CFA or not
Please also share ur opinion/insights on pts I may have missed due to my limited knowledge
I have already posted my queries on the other thread besides PM to seniors.
Though my queries may be little of the mark in this thread, I believe people in this thread are bested suited to clarify my doubts as they are current students and gone thru similar dilemma recently.
Thanks and Regards

Hello Sandy,
I am planning to pursue CFA. I have done BBA and then MBA from India. I had two important questions.
1. I have done MBA with specialisation in Marketing. I know MBA is not an essential requirement for CFA, but having an MBA degree always gives a cutting edge. I wanted to know whether only MBA in Finance adds value for CFA or the MBA in Marketing is also OK?
2. I wanted to know whether it is essential to have 4 years of work experience for CFA and wether it is essential to have the experience in Financial market or in Banks only. I wanted to know whether I really need to resign from my current job and find a new job in Banks or companies with financial base?
Please clarify me on these issues.
Thank you 😃

For taking and clearing the exam you don't need 4 years work x.
However You can write CFA before your name only after you have had 4 years work x in investment industry.
In short if you want to clear the exam you can, but just don't mention anywhere that you are a charter holder. When u complete 4 years in investment division you can use the title
Hi All,
I was about to apply for the CFA level I exam in June, but i have a query. I am frm an engg background and am currently working. But can easily put in about 20+ hours per week until June. This is becoz i'll b continuing my prep for CAT frm June onwards. Would it be suggeted that i take up the exam in June or Dec?
If its in Dec i won't be able to spend enough time preparing for CFA jst before the exam n may jst end up messing up CAT or CFA or both.
I'm in a dilemma here, plz help me out.
