CFA Level 1 June-2010

I think it was the other way.... I found afternoon very difficult.:(........... whr do u see ur score......

Well I think exam was easy....Afternoon was easier than morning......i think i have scrwd up portfolio management & derivatives...:( :(

Is there any sectional cutoff???

hey all,
Can anybody help me in resolving my doubt....???
Can i register for CFA first and then later for the exam ???

Regards

Not sure if their is nay cut off....
it is basically relative and top 40 % qualify. But i have heard that you will surely pass if you get above 70 %.

Any one know anything more?

Ya...u r right 2_kul....n if it is a boundary case....then u must have aced Ethics to get through.....I dont think there is any individual cutoff...if so screwing 4 out of 8 alternative investment questions will kick u off 😛 which wont be the correct criteria!!
n BTW this is my OPINION n not FACT 😁 😁

You can PM if u have any specific queries.....overall experience was awesome \m/ 😁

I too had a good feeling after the completion of the exam. The afternoon exam went better even though the difficulty level was undoubtly higher than the morning exam.
IMO the cut-off would rise higher as the exam must be easy for all of us and that CFA institute passes only certain percentage of people.

I also found the morning session very easy compared to afternoon session. I think I can cross 70% on aggregate, but not sure if there are different cutoffs for morning and afternoon sessions.

My afternoon session was not as good as the morning session, though and ended up having to guess 4-5 questions.

In my opinion the MPS (Minimum Passing Score) would be higher since the paper esp. the morning session was very easy. I could finish AM session in 2 hrs 20 mins. Did every one else feel that way ?

I finished both papers in 2 hours....I guessed around 4-5 questions (with no clue)out of 240 and 20-25 calculated guess....n other wrong answers are my silly silly mistakes 😁 :D

Well I still dont have any idea what result is going to be because though I have checked my answers I have no idea where I have done blunders... :|

All the best to everybody....MPS, still cant be estimated because sample size is very small 😁

From my experience last year, paper may be easier , but still cut off will be lower. If u feel the attempt was 'decent' u r in. It need not be awesome or very good.

@ dhaval.pgk : Given the sample size is small, but you are already in the fat tail of the t-distribution. You are definitely through my friend, can say that with a 99 % confidence level

@ ABCLIKS : This is very motivating. Hope your words come true since I have exactly this feeling : my performance was decent but not very good or exceptional

Hey hi puys, ya thats correct the was little bit on easier side, but i did a few silly mistakes in Economics so m just worried about it...so guys have u got any idea that does a candidate really need to make 70% of 240 to clear its CFA Level 1 or what would happend if he gets little bit less than 70%.
Please help me with your feedbac..i would really appreaciate you.

Thanks in advance.

Dude, just wanted to point out, that being in fat tail of t-distribution is no safety, though i get the joke!

my cfa experience bordered on disaster, solved everything in the morning session and ran out of time and couldn't bubble 33 odd questions(at the last). Tried to make up for everything in the afternoon session , but was still clueless in 6-7 question, guys, wish me luck!

U do not need minimum 70 % to pass. That is like sure to pass.

But i want to ask you guys about ethics paper... it the most important paper... Bad in others and good in ethics will get you through..

I thought ethics was ok... i second paper i remember a lot of answers i marked no viloation of any ethics... hope all of them are correct

Disclaimer-- Talking about ethics, i hope our this forum is not in violation of standard 7 B :-P

Hey Guys...

Congrats for your paper...!!!

I would like to request you guys to please provide your inputs to the toddlers for CFA Dec 2010 by participating in Dec thread. You guys will be a great source of guidance for us....Thanks much...!!!

Rgds,

Good Morning Everybody,

I have given by CFA Level 1 in June 2010 this year. I found noon season much easier than morning one. If someone scores more than 70% overall, then is it necessary to have a 70% in one or two specified sections like Ethics and FRA? if someone doent have more than 70% in those sections, then what could be result?

Waiting for rely form u very soon.

THanks and Advance.

Yeah let's hope we get through. But now it is a relaxing time after huge efforts put in for the last few months. I feel the number of candidates would be more this yr coz of the centre in India. So many ppl who wouldn't have given cfa exam (if centre was outside india) actually gave.

yep...138000 is a big no..isnt it?
I think actual criteria of passing is not revealed by CFA Institute...but Ethics is important as everybody is saying...n as I mentioned earlier I personally dont think other than Ethics there is any topic which is given priority...

At last found a guy who found PM paper easier...I was damn worried 😁 (Thought I have done blunders in Tricky Questions :P)

Anyways...I hope everybody here clears L1...BUT now its time to relax n enjoy....let us wait till results n do not worry about it.....Cheeeers!!! 😃

To me both the sessions were equally easy. I just *beeped* up in Derivatives totally. The rest was fine. Ethics in the P.M session was a bit confusing. Other than that it was pretty fine.

I guess anything above 66.67% would be enough. Just my $0.02.

Hey guys, my personal opinion for those who are giving CFA Level Dec, 2010 would be,
First : start your preparation very early, don't wait for the right time, i think the right time has come for the Dec, 2010 CFA Level 1,

Second : Do not appear for the CFA Level 1 test before giving enough Mock Tests, this is personal suggestion practice enough papers before going for the final war.

Third : Try to finish your syllabus month before the final exam or atleast 20 days before your final exam, and just give the at lest 5 to 6 mock test during this period.

I would like to help you if you have got any queries..Wish you all the best.

Take Care.
Manish.
