CFA Level 1, June 2013

@ronaldo7 u have 2013 wala schewser e-books?

when schweser june 2013 will b available from om xerox..plz can any one ask them and post here

@Novice10 Hi Yes i am
@imabhi88 hi i have bought cfa level II and level III scheweser notes from Om book centre in Vile Parle.
@TinasWorld Hi Tina, order the scheweser books right away. These notes will suffice for all subjects of Level 1, except ethics which you must study from the CFA book. Coaching will surely help but it is not essential. I suggest you :i) glance through the notes, get some familiarity with the topics and assess your comfort level in each of the subjects ii) estimate the amount of time you can put on the subject that you are least comfortable with. Level 1 is fairly easy. You can post your doubts in this forum; fellow puys will help.
@fanaticfinance Hi, I would not suggest leaving job for level 1. If you are from a commerce background, then coaching is not necessary. Trying finding time after work, study in weekends, put in some extra hard work, it should be doable. Plus, CFA level 1 does not have much value, especially in this environment. Stick to your job.

Puys....how is the scoring for CFA Level 1 done ?

Please help.
@DiltonDoiley They will calculate the percentage marks scored in each of the subjects. There is no negative marking. So you can get below 50%, 50-70% or above 70% of marks. Now each subject has a weight. For instance, it is better if you happen to score less than 50% in Alternative investments than less than 50% in Ethics/Quants (which have higher weight ages). So they will calculate the weighted average score and if you are amongst the top 40% (or whatever level they decide) of the candidates in terms of the score, you are through!
@Novice10 Have you registered for the exam? And where do you stay in Pune?
