hi evryone, m a dentist who is planning to appear for cfa level I June 2013...living in meerut..i hav got d study material frm OM BOOK SHOP..haven't yet registered..looking for study partner frm meerut or delhi...
@neeupp Hi, am currently in the final stage of my chartered accountancy and looking to give the L1 in June. Am currently working in financial statements audit and was wondering if a CFA Level 2 (eventually) and a chartered accountant degree would help me get good finance profiles ?
Will it be a value addition ?

CFA is a great course to take up especially if you see urself working in financial markets, dealing with asset classes, instruments or research, portfolio management etc.
However, if you want a role as audit etc then CFA will add little value.

@kushalagg Thanks for the reply. I infact see myself moving out of audit in the near future and probably moving to equity research / financial research. In that case will a L2 help me get an interview ( am aware that L1 isn't much of a value addition ).
@dhruvd oh yes you should be aiming for the charter not just level 2..a CA + CFA profile is strong enough to land you very good finance profiles. All the best 😃
@neeupp Thanks for the advice! I was going through stockmusings.com and would love to contribute some articles. I don't have a strong background in equity/markets but I've studied economics and keenly explore how macroeconomic factors influence the market and impact long term trends. Hoping that's something you can include soon.

Since you are appearing for June, you can devote 1 to 2 hrs consistently on a daily basis starting asap. First skim through the books (Schweser is usualy enough, however, if you do not understand a concept you can refer institute books for deep understanding). Once you have a fair idea of topics its time to internalize the concepts so give a second thorough reading and simultaneously solve end of chapter questions from institute books as well as schweser. You should ideally complete all the above by March end (Mid april latest). Then start revisions, mock tests etc. Go through everything again in the last two weeks.
So all in all, 2 hrs of study everyday, with 5-6 in weekends, and a full fortnight in the end will help you sail comfortably. Also, total preparation time depends from person to person. But, a minimum time of 300-350 hrs in total is recommended.
It all depends on how comfortable you are with the concepts. As you will be taking classes from 18 nov you will have a fair idea by jan mid/end. But i must suggest, evaluate yourself before registration. 35K is a lot of money.
I hope my response was satisfactory. Do consult other people around you who have already cleared CFA.
Disclaimer: I am a CFA Level II candidate.

Friends..do you think coaching is required for L-1.
Am from engg background and dont have much idea about Finance
@messidbarca Hi, if you can take out 2 hours on weekdays and 7 hours on weekends for CFA study from now onwards, I don't think coaching is essential for Level 1.
Just inquisitive, Any One from the the city of joy, Kolkata, preparing for June 2013 L1?
