From where did u practice questions? How many mocks before the acutal cfa is recommended?
@magnumopus22605

Hi there. Trust you are doing good.

I practiced around 6 mock exams and took weekly revision tests. These tests and mocks were conducted in a class that I attended.

How's your prep going buddy?

Cheers

The thing is that during the exam you have to have your momentum, because time is precious. So practicing mock exams helps you manage time. So, I strongly advise you to do so.

However dont take the mock tests now. Save them for the final 2 weeks!

As of now its slow, once my 1st year mba exams get over on 1st March will totally concentrate on L1. I am doing it from cfa curriculum books, what do you suggest? books/ scheweser notes.
Would taking scheweser mocks (6mocks) sufficient? Which classes did you attend in pune?
Changes in slope of the yield curve:

A) have little effect on the value of well diversified portfolio
B) highlight the need for risk measures such as rate duration and key rate duration.
C) impact the value of floating rate securities more than they impact the value of fixed coupon securities

Pls Explain as well.

Hey buddy,

Schweser notes are sufficient as far as topics are concerned (except for ethics). but ofcourse the curriculum is the best option. So first I need to know, how much have you covered from curriculum notes? what subjects have you done?

you have 3 months, and you want to pass the exam. times is sufficient. but if you have to cover major subjects, then its better to make a move right now. so let's discuss after you give me a clearer picture. good luck with your mba exams!

i attended coaching at profitshastra in pune. the teaching was just too good. the concepts became very clear after that.

Cheers

Well let me give you some background picture:
I am Engg graduate currently in 1st year of MBA, This will be my 2nd attempt for L1 (Previous attempt was in June 2011, failed with Score Band of 10). As of now I have covered
Quants (3/8 readings), Economics (4/8), Corp Fin (2/6), Portfolio Mgmt. (3/4), Fixed Income (2/8) ... total 14/67 readings
As my classes would get over by 1st March I will be able to speed up prep. I am planning to cover the syllabus by April End and 1 month for Revision + Mocks.

Hard luck buddy. But I am sure that the experience that you gained was worth it. Band 10 says that you were nearly there. So, start fresh. Are there any things that you consider your mistakes in previous attempt? Where do you think you fell short? Before and during the exam? Do let us know.

Okay so you mean to say that you will study for the exam full time for 3 months? Pl confirm.

Yes, focus on completing the syllabus by April end. That's the wisest move. 1 month is needed for practicing (solving questions and mock exams), revising, and revising.

May I know whether you are reading all subjects simultaneously?

Quant- 1st 2 topics of quant i.e. discounted cash flow tech. & TVM are needed for fixed income, equity, as well as corporate finance. hope that you have read those 2 till now.

What topics have you covered in each subject? I don't want to assume things. So, pl let me know subjectwise as to what have you read. Hey btw, study ethics in the end.

(Let's stick to LIFO method. Ethics comes first in exam. So let's study that last 😃 )

You are gonna do it. Be confident buddy.

Cheers

I think, it was probably Quants + Fixed Income (considerably higher weight age topics) which may have made my score miss the MPS. This time I am concentrating more on high weightage topics ( FRA+Ethics+Quant+FI+Equity).

Not exactly, but yes kind of its parallel

All topics in all areas have been covered sequentially, so Quant (3) means 1st 3 readings of Quants and like wise for others as well
