CGL 2012 Tier 2 Preparations and Results

Friends ,I posted the below mentioned query on another forum in this site only and posting it here too so that confusion can be sorted out .
There are many posts which enquire about comparison of a Bank PO Job and job here in Govt. and me too having the same confusion .
I need clarifications about some concerns ,plz throw some light on each of the following concerns>>>>
1)What is the job profile of PO , wat exactly is the work requirement? Does it involve too much work ,and will there be adequate time to prepare for UPSC while working as PO??
2)What is the starting salary of a PO ?
3)What are the career stages of a PO , the next rank and promotions etc?
I shall be obliged if anyone cn clear these points .
Thanks....

Hi All,

I am in for interview (tier1+tier2=365) as per keys.
I am a first timer.
Thanks all puys, learnt a lot through this forum.

I have filled assistant in CSS as first preference, and then other ministries
and then Auditor in CAG and then inspector of posts.
Which preference I am most likely to get....? Is auditor in CAG an interview post?
@mukul1988 was just telling u. prepare ur graduation subject, hobbies and current affairs.

Dear friend,
Although I am not a PO but one of my friend is PO in SBI, and he himself had written CGL this time because he wanted to prepare for UPSC and was not getting time, moreover he is posted in a rural area of Uttarakhand where study resources are also hard to get. In PO jobs a target is set by the bank and achieving that is the responsibilty.
Other guys may please enlighten the discussion much...

PO is a probationary officer who later becomes Assistant manger and is like a administrator of bank and is responsible for daily dealing. Yes it entails much of work and lots of responsibility. Padhne wale kahin se bhi time nikal lete hain. Although on a general note you won't have much energy left after a day (not in beginning of course) to engage in study (view is personal)

Starting salary in SBI 31k+perks/inc. others 24-26k+perks/ inc

PO------ Ass Manager------- Manager can go up to Board room even, but with each stage pressure and salary increase

If u want a peaceful job with less responsbililty n time for yourself for family, studies etc. a few people only wud recommend PO. For UPSC considering me its out of question.
@tejaswigandhi you may have to attend dest.
