I have completed my graduation in 2011 bt got my provisional on 24-aug-2012
I m selected for NIP and TA both...but is it necessory that the provisional must be on or before 1-Aug-2012.

we have tried asking for it but it has been denied.

DEST is very simple test they gave you a paper which has two or three paragraphs containing 2000 key dipressions you have to type this in 15 minutes or less with maximum 15% errors.
My advise to you is start practice and type govt orders or notices cause they give that these in DEST I gave dest two times before in CHSL

How is error calculated? In final text printout or while typing if wrong key gets pressed but we delete and correct it, does that also get counted as error?
the software for dest is very much like notepad you can correct your errors in the given time by using arrow keys or mouse but you have to correct them in the given time and bro just concentrate on space and tab button cause every extra or less space is counted as an error and every tab is counted as errors so be careful with that and best of luck
@torqtech and one thing more I want to tell that be careful with punctuation like . , " ' ; : etc if you skip punctuations you are very less chances to clear dest I know some guys which dont type punctuations in dest and they are not qualified in dest because of errors so be careful with that and practice govt notices for type cause ssc gives govt orders or notices in dest

Thanks for the info bhai! I usually make errors while typing but have fast enough speed to correct them. If final text is what is considered for error then hopefully I would be having no errors.

1) do maximum candiidates complete the passage in given time or is it very lengthy??
If anyone doesn's complete it in given time, Is he disqualified?
2) The text written on paper given by them to copy have larger font or is it same as that of any english neas paper??

ans 1 no the remaining text counts as errors
2 they usually give font which you can easily read something we type in word in 12-13
