@ankit0102 b' cos promotional aspect is not looking good on paper..... i made a flowchart based on website and ill be GROUP A Deputy Superintendent of police only @ age of 40.. and i will retire as at max Senior Superintendent of Police..... While if i clear IPS then directly ill join as Superintendent of Police after 2 yrs training+probation...bottom line is 15 years work as group C non gazetted with 35 k salary, heavy workload ....not good @ all....full regrets now

@appuusingh thanks for the reply mate, is 55-60 an average score of interview or is it very hard to score it, cuz i want to be damn sure if i am going for excise i am staying in Raj. otherwise auditor in raj is better than any other post elswhere for me(leaving extrnl affairs) and one more thing are guys who only filled out non-int posts given pref over the ones who have filled both, when it comes to non int posts, or the marks will matter there too,

appearing for interview will only improve your status for IP merit and in no way gonna affect NIP merit, so do appear , you never know wats there stored in luck for you, people are called for IP even after declaration of results, one such instance happened in yesteryears, cand was called for joining as Div Acct, after being allotted NIP in the results

don't take it otherwise but its an absurd arguement if u want excise now, as u wud at least see the 7600 GP in CBI in ur lyf but in excise u r gonna get max 2 promotion that too 2nd one at your near end of career. i.e u gonna get max 5400 GP in ur whole lyf.
Promotionwise excise is the worst deptt. Of course if u r looking at other options this may sound lucrative to go in excise, but again that also is gud at certain places only, so don't take chance (my view)
