lol... i was confused there for a min! 😃 and as for the study technique, i actually spend more time on the text book, so part B becomes a lot easier. try it!
for EL2 i want to knw if working out the text will do or if we need to ref to other authors. Do they stay within the scope of the text during exams??

Questions in examinations are based on workbook format. If you are thorough with workbook questions and basic concepts in textbook it will be enough to not only pass but get a first division. Workbook in EL2 have close to 440 questions. It should be enough.
hey ppl...nice 2 see the thread.... I am Saunak Mayani..m currently doin level 2 (group Delta)..would like 2 knw the strategy 4 clearin delta..n also would like 2 knw whether its imp 2 work along wid doin CFA..to get some relevant wrk exp...i jus gave my final yr exams in march...
Welcome Saunak. Reading ICFAI magazines like treasury management and portfolio organiser will be helpful in cracking security analysis papers. International finance is lengthy and my friends who cleared it found useful to stick to ICFAI books to understand concepts. Chapters like Exchange rate determination, Exchange risk management takes time to understand the concepts and its all new (No repetition of commerce graduation subjects)
If you can manage studies along with job, you should work. Your relevant experience will be counted once you clear CFA. As you have diploma in business finance, GENPACT recruit candidates with that diploma. Search in naukri.com. Try for some non voice based finance BPO in mumbai.
My strategy is also similar to Ketaki one. I read the lesson fast and then do questions from workbook. Part B problems EL 1 is different and needs lot of revision. I dont try to remember the Section as it is objective type and section is not asked but try to remember the particular of every case which are given in section B: problems.
Workbook is bible and needs lot of revision to do well in exams. I havent started with ES 2.
Anand, where you based in delhi? I am at south patel nagar.
Thankx a lot for ur guidence ketaki and Babu, i think these tips will really b helpful. i m located at east delhi, i.e I.P Extension. Babu did u took coaching classes for group alpha from St. Thomas school center?

I dont agree with you my friend. I have seen many people who get pretty good placements WITH BETTER PROFILES than some supposedly good institutes (obviously not IIMs) like Symbiosis, Narsee Monjee and what not.
It depends a lot on where you are actually and what soft skills you have as per my opinion. Rest is best when left to God. !!

Alpha + Beta can be given together.
In places like mumbai, you can hope to start at 3 lakhs p.a. May be more depending upon your skills and company policy.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is the difference in the jobs of "Equity Research Analyst" and " Equity Research Associate".
Further, what kind of qualifications does one need to have in order to get the job of " Equity Research Associate".
If have done my MBA Finance from Mumbai Universityand am currently appearing for gamma. Can i hope to get a job of a research associate ?
Analyst comes first. Then when analyst gets required experience or top class MBA, he becomes associate.
Analysts are typically recent undergraduates who work long hours and do a fair bit of grunt work. A good analyst helps his or her boss get their job done and done well. ... During recruiting out of an MBA program, former analysts will be at a significant advantage over others without experience.
Key analyst skills include: - the ability to work with Excel spreadsheets, - write macros in VBA, - track and generate weekly newsletters (weeklies), - keep schedules, - generate prospectuses, - get burgers
After two years, most analysts leave to get their MBA or pursue other positions."
So, in general, one becomes an analyst, then with experience and/or additional education/degrees, one becomes an associate analyst.
On this Goldman Sachs page on investment banking they outline the basic difference is that one is usually an analyst before becoming an associate.
i had been going through the discussions for a long time.. I am a software pro considering a career in finance in the long run. right now i am into SAP implementations and support
I have some questions in mind
a) Why CFA ICFAI when there r options for CFA AMIR. or are there any stipulations reg. AMIR.I have heard that they need a work ex in the mentioned areas or else they refrain from granting the CFA charter.
b) For those aspiring for MBA Finance (DLP) i think when u do a DLP program its all the same where u do it from ... on the contrary a CFA gives u a charter.
Now the question...... is this charter valid in other countries Okay do not consider US or Canada but wht about other places. UK, Middle east, australia , other europe
babu and tumtum pl. get to my queries as i am in tune to start off with a CFA
