Bad Idea. Rejected 😃 (Atleast from my side)

Lot of information is already there on ICFAI website and in various discussion forums. You are creating same thing with different structure serving same purpose of providing exactly same information which is avaliable on various websites/forums.

Buddy, you dont need all these special websites, forums to pass the exams. You need to get in the 'hard work zone' and keep working on core concepts day by day.
Dear Friends & Babu

Thanks a lot for replying.

You are right when you said that we already have all the information on website & we need to work hard to clear the CFA rather than creating a website.

But I am looking into the long term aspect of things not only for us but for future aspirants also. As we all know that quality level of exams is rising fast & you need to work much harder today then you probably needed to do 2 years back.

We do not have a website totally committed for CFAs India.
A website that will provide you with solutions of wrong questions.
Correction to printing mistakes in books which are not insignificant.
We are not supplied with extra questions for practice & live market information anywhere or by ICFAI either.
We do not have services like a polling station/shoutbox/database of CFAs & financial events & details
We do not have our very own Chatting Messenger tailor made for CFAs only. Where all the CFAs from across the country can get in touch & chat with each other discussion thousands of issues regarding studies & financial markets.
We do not have a file section that can contain thousands of stock analysis reports from various companies / IPOs / FPOs / Bonds / Monetary / Fiscal Policies & much more
Though we are normally communicated all the information by ICFAI in Newsletters but same is hardly read by every member. We need to pass on the vital information extracts from there to every member to create awareness
We normally come across students asking for details about from where they can take Coaching / Tutions to improve their skills & have better conceptual understanding. Our website will contain all the information
We may have a quicker & more functional forum, made in flash, for our new website
Most importantly, we all come across people who keep looking for jobs after completion of Ms-Finance & having charter but find it difficult to get the job because of lack of UNIVERSITY support. Hopefully we will overcome this with help of various placement agencies & all the working CFAs. All the fresher & already working CFAs will be benefited by this function of our website.

If we can have all or even most of the functions above in our new website, totally committed to help the CFA community of INDIA It will be a great achievement for us & a great help for all of us & the coming generation of CFAs.

Moreover, we all must realize that a forum thread or a yahoo group cannot serve the fast growing CFA community for long.

Thanks & Regards

Sumit K. Gupta

Guys, did you noticed one thing in this month CFA magazine !

An advertisement from UBS inviting applications from master in finance (Qualified) to apply for finance positions/technology in their global financial centre at Hyderabad.

I always study closely which companies are advertising in the magazine so you know which company values your MS finance/ CFA from ICFAI.

http://www.ubs.com/1/e/career_candidates/experienced_professionals/india.html

Guys !

I always told you that CFA from ICFAI was a top notch course and valued every where. Here is another example to prove it as shown by Babu in the previous post.

VAARTHA is one of the famous daily news paper in Andhara Pradesh. On 80-80-2006 it has published a detailed full page (including pictures, published in main page) article regarding ICFAI and the courses being offered by ICFAI.

The complete article aims to prove that he ICFAI is a fake University and it does not have any kind of recognition in India. It says that ICFAI is not approved by any of the following bodies - Gov. of India, UGC, Council of Distance Learning, AICTI. It is also reported that Degree/Masters from ICFAI will not be considered for Government sector jobs and also any foreign Universities do not recognize them for MS or PHD studies.

I can't forward the artical here as it is published in TELUGU language. Any people from Andhra Pradesh here, please go through that artical in "VAARTHA", dated 08-08-2006 at main page.

Actually I am thinking to take MS (Finance) through ICFAI, but this article has put me in to dilemma.

I have gone through prospects of ICFAI. Lot of professional bodies are with ICFAI but unfortunately no University is listed.

Could any one here help me in identifying validity of ICFAI University. Gathering of public anousments made by ICFAI towards recognition will be great.

Hope a 500+ posts thread will address my doubts.

Thank you very much.

Tumtum have already solved the query but i want to tell you few good points.

Always look at the 'Broader Picture' merging weakness and strengths in one package and evaluating the whole package. Your post is silent about MS finance positive points. If you are inclined towards recognition part then i will suggest you to go to only delhi university or mumbai university.

Yesterday in times ascent one middle east based arab investment bank posted ad for various analyst/Sr analyst/Risk management profiles. If you study that ad from top to bottom, you will realise the essence of education. They mentioned the job description, job responsibilities and what type of candidate they are looking (Mainly experience) excluding education (Point to be noted ). At the bottom of the ad there was a line added which stated: CA/CFA/FRM/ Graduates/Master in finance or any other relevant qualification (which also means any qualification giving you finance education whether it is PGDM finance or even M.com).

It is all your hardcore experience which matters along with your extra knowledge with education taking a back seat. ICFAI can help you for entry level job. That is why it is called entry level. You enter the corporate arena of you choice (finance) and then it is you and your knowledge and of course soft skills.

Qualification can help you to kickstart your career but can not be substituted for real life time experience.

Cheers,

Hi Ravuri gaaru!

I wonder how come a news paper, which always distotrs reports and surveys in favour a particular political party(present ruling party, precisely) and which always give false claims that it is famous news paper in Andhra, can comment on a Institute(or university) which is always coming with lots of innovative and relevent programmes, updating the curricula regularly to suit Industry, with tie-ups with internationally reputed institutions, with exploiting the speed and power of IT, with aggressiveness in marketing its products. B- School setup by the ICFAI, the ICFAI B-School(Hyderabad) is one the (true) top ten B-schools in India, even though it is late comer when compared to other tops b-schools.

No Institute has setup so many centres and univeristies and programmes within a short span of time. It has created revolution in private universities. All of its wings might have not approvals because it takes some time to get approvals.

If you go thru some of the threads posted by BABU and TUMTUM you will difinitely be convinced that ICFAI really a professionally managed by a team by top class luminaries, who have passion for developing and changing education scenario in India. The posts have some links to sites like AICTE which show validity of MS(Fin).

Hope you are convinced with my arguments,

Hi tumtum,

I have decided to join in MS (Finance) based on inputs given by this thread. but unfortunatly the doubt in my minde has raised because of that artical.

But still there are few open ended issues with ICFAI.
1. How can ICFAI start study centers in AP where the University is not rigistered under any AP act
2. How can ICFAI start study centers in Sri Lank beeing a local university of Uttaranchal and Chathisghad.
3. How can they offer Distance mode learning with out approval from Council of Distance Learning.

Hi Babu,

I agree with you. Talent and Communication is most important then a Degree.

I am an IT Solutions Architect working for Wipro Tech-Bangalore. Having 9 years of IT experience that includes Lead and Managerial rolls.

I am targeting to grow as a Finance Manager in the sector of IT. MS(Finance) from ICFAI will be well suited for me because Wipro highly recognizes ICFAI university. We have a separate cell in Wipro where all ICFAI published textbooks and magazines are put for reference. Wipro Chairman Mr.Premjee was honorable gust for many ICFAI convocations. this proves that ICFAI is well reorganized by corporate sector.

My basic enthusiasm is to know about Gov. of India, UGC and DLC reorganization apart from corporate sector.

Hi Dora,

I know ICFAI is one of the top-10 B-School in India. That is the reason why I have selected this University to pursue MS(Finance).

My intension of the post here is to know only about reorganization given by Gov. of India, UGC and DLC.
For your kind information till know AICTE is not reorganized any course which are run by ICFAI.

Our intension here is not commenting on any system ((I wonder how come a news paper, which always distotrs reports and surveys in favour a particular political party(present ruling party, precisely) and which always give false claims that it is famous news paper in Andhra
))

We are here to know more about ICFAI, please stick to that.

A hot story sold by journalist. It is journalist full time job to get masala information and make it more spicy.

I am not a student/Alumini of ICFAI. I have done CA and working in Kotak investment banking as analyst. In my team here, we have 5 CFA's from ICFAI out of 12. In every team/Other deptt. like Kotak bank, Kotak Insurance, Kotak Mutual Funds you will find lot of CFAs from ICFAI. Some are plain CFA's while some have done MBA + CFA (Both from ICFAI). Industry percieves MS finance from ICFAI with respect. Thats what matter rather then looking into the 50 year old nehru framed legislative laws.

Well, ravuri is not against ICFAI but he got confused with newspaper report which every rational person can get. All i know is that ICFAI is a university (UGC website) and have got brand popularity among corporates. I dont have idea about other technical issues.

Ravuri, i read your earlier post where you mentioned that you are IT pro with 9 yrs of exp. Reconsider your decision about MS finance. I feel this course is best suited for freshers who have lot of time at their disposal. It is a hard nut to crack with full time job and my friends have also failed in multiple attempts.

To get finance knowledge, you can go for some short, crisp, point to point course rather then going for lengthy MS finance.
