Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from ICFAI_Hyderabad

MS Finance regular started in the year 2004 and the first batch passed out in the year 2006. 100% placements with the average package around 3.25 lakhs p.a and highest package given by eserve was 5.75 lakhs p.a

One of my online friends is currently doing MS finance campus program from Hyderabad (2005-2007) and he is my yahoo list. He is placed in ICICI Mumbai. If you want to talk him, let me know. You can talk online or send him an email.

There is a battle going between ICFAI and AIMR regarding CFA trademark. Your main degree will be MS finance which is good.

I have sended you PM regarding my friend yahoo email id.

What sort of position in Kotak? Marketing or equity dealer or some thing else?

MS hybad is a freaking expensive course. First thing is you need to consider your budget.

I am doing CFA self study format. The people who have done MS finance/CFA there in campus have got same job offers..most of them in range of 3-3.5 lakhs p.a My friends who paid 50000 bucks to do CFA self study format got same jobs at starting packages of 3 lakhs p.a and in same companies which are coming to campus. The only difference is they have to email the resumes and schedule interview themselves with HR managers.

CFA AIMR is too good. But again expensive. You need to travel also to give exams.

If it a sales kind of job with not a good package, skip it and do MS hybad if you have no funds problem.

If it a good job with decent package, then you can do CFA from AIMR.

Boss ids it that

CFA means from icfai or can we do that from any of the more reputed instis

like oxford

Can any one throw somelight into that matter '

Bye

I guess you mean giving alpha in April 2007. Just do your workbook well for Alpha understanding concepts. If you are from commerce background, alpha should not be much problem.

May i ask in which KPO you are working?

First of all I would like to make it clear that I am not against ICFAI nor it's students. I am myself doing MS(Finance) and I know from my heart that the course is extremely good and enjoys good recognition.

However, as all of you know that Degrees in our country have to be granted by Universitites only and Degrees granted by Universities recognised by UGC have acceptance in big companies as well as Govt and PSUs. Perhaps, this is the reason two of the ICFAI Universities are in the list maintained by UGC on it's website.

But one more thing that is important is the norms of nomenclature of the Degrees offered by Universities recognised by UGC.

As per Sub Section 3 of Section 22 of the UGC Act an University Recognised by it must give only those degrees which are specified by it.

This is what had happend in case of BIS, MIT, MIS, MIT Courses offered by IGNOU which were subsequently made to be converted to BSc and MSc.

see : Education

The punishment for noncompliance is derecognition of University as well as the course.

The list of the nomenclatures recognised by UGC is listed under the regulations of the UGC Act on the UGC website.

Interestingly, you will find that MS stands for Master in Surgery and MSc stands for Master of Science.

Thus, one day we will be forced to change for qualification from MS(Finance) to MSc(Finance) or face complete derecogniton. Drecognition because in earlier case it was a Cental University and in our case it is a Pvt University.

I have mailed ICFAI regarding this atleast 10 times but they haven't bothered to reply.

I think we have to collectively approach the University or use the Right to Information Act with the Public Information Officer of UGC.

We have already lost CFA designation and now it may be our MS Degree.

Please wake up, this is a SOS.

For clarifications you may PM me.

Yours truly,

(Ketan)

If you can finish the course successfully, you should be able to get the job of your own choice provided you are in decent city and can ace financial tests (recruitment) and interview. What else you need ? Ms Finance/Msc Finance/CFA or Chartered Indian Financial Analyst (CIFA)- How these things matter when course contents are same and most important the difficulty level in passing groups.

I do see lot of people making statements about ICFAI but you can not run from a single fact- This course is not easy to complete and there are hardly 140-150 CFAs passing every year (Exlcluding regular program). Most people will leave the course after L 1 saying ICFAI/CFA/Ms finance is not recognised and there is no use. The crux of the matter- How many of them were able to prepare effectively for delta examinations which involves classic case studies?

I am not scaring anyone but i dont think too much about UGC nomenclature. This is the reason ICFAI have also not replied. At the back of my mind, i know 2 things which holds true:

1) I will get a job of my choice if i am able to complete the course

2) Will i able to complete the course and do tough subjects that require hardcore investment analysis- This is my biggest tension 😃

Sorry folks...double post
Folks..especially Ketan bhaiplz calm down and think logically.
If you see the nomenclature of degrees awarded in the US, they generally award BS/MS and such stuff..and in UK, the universities award BSc/MSc.
But as long as the course contents are same (rather they are updated periodically) then what is the problem guys ? let it be called MSc/ABC/XYZ or anytinghow does it matter guys ?? People know how to discern in the corporate world....so relax yaar!!
Believe in yourself and not mere degree letters !! We rock !!

Look TumTum,

Let me clarify one thing, I am not against ICFAI and I respect ICFAI as much as you do.

I never said that ICFAI is fooling us or some thing like that but they are overlooking some important norms which might cost all of us a lot.

In foreign countries only those degrees are recognised which are recognised/ endorsed by our government bodies and they may reject MS(Finance) as it itself is not as per the norms of our country. As far as MS/BS in US or MSc/BSc in UK are concerned, they are as per the nomenclature norms of their Government Bodies.

Look the name of degrees are important and that is the reason why only an university can issue degrees.

I know that the course content of MS(Finance) is much superior than other courses, but this superiority has to be recognised in proper way. I don't wan't this degree to be treated at par with diplomas of other B Grade Schools. This degree should get what it deserves.

I strongly feel that we should seek clarification from ICFAI or UGC using RTI Act.
This would put an end to the concern once and for all

Please take this seriously as this problem has been faced by many universities.

With concern,

(Ketan)

ICFAI always throws some surprises. Lets hope for the best. I have heard there might be some outside court settlement for CFA.
