Chill down yaar when i told u that he is From ICFAI,, i just told u that go through These u will find Icfai CFA too,, Just search Google for fund managers U will find CFA from ICFAI too. I Am not Against CFA AMIR. But My point is that Its worth Doing CFA from ICFAI.

hey man,no problem.See the reason I told uu this is cos i have seen ICFAI CFA struggling to find a suitable job and then by compulsion are joining BPO/KPO's.The amount that uu are spending on some course shud give uu the returns that uu expect from it.That is where the whole point lies.

My friend, I dont know from where you get these weird fantasies into your mind but ICFAI CFAs are getting placed big time. In fact all my friends who did the course are placed with really good companies and have enviable profiles.

About me, I too am an ICFAI CFA and work as a Senior Analyst for a big investment bank- a profile and a company that AIMR CFAs dream of joining or getting a break in.

Hope that answers your hallucinations well.

ooopss...double post !!!!!!!!!!111

" unlike the international CFA, the ICFAI CFA has 18 subjects spread over 9 levels and each level has only 2 subjects with 2 papers on each subject..studyin only those 2 subjects for 3 continuous months from a 800 odd page text book will definately leave a student more educated. the american CFA on the other hand has 6 odd subjects repeated in all 3 levels with all of them compressed in 2 papers per level."

wow ! have YOU checkd the CFA AIMR sylabuss? even if u have have u been working liek 25 yrs in finance to comment on it? :wow: and if dat IS d case (since a big-shot analyst like u says so it must b true ! ) , i'll write to CFAI to give me d charter right now! i passd Level 1 and the stuff is repeated in all 3 levels...so wt use r d next 2 levels?

"Size of the ad shows their desparation and how scarred they are about Tripura CFA. ICFAI program is 22 yrs old. Every company knows abt them. It the age of India, all foreign companies are scarred of indian companies"

ahem ahem...CFAI has been awarding the CFA designation since 1963 i think.am poor @ calculations so why dun u do the math and check out which program is older !

"In fact CFA offered by ICFAI is a far wider course and very in-depth too. It gives you a solid grounding in finance just like its American institutes program. However, the beauty of this course lies in the fact that it is WIDER than US CFA. you have to give 32 papers for earning the ICFAI CFA. Whereas, American CFA has less number of papers and is not indepth and tough."

oh Great ! why dun YOU appear for the Level 1 June exam? just show up @ d centre and you ll pass ! i wud go on to say that Primary school exams r tougher than CFA AIMR exams ! no wonder all those top rated research analysts/directors @ Merill, Goldman, Morgan Stanley passed these exams ! they r so easy !

now before you begin BASHING me on this forum ( you might have guessed by now that i am a CFA Level 2 candidate)...i am NOT against the ICFAI or its students/members. i work in a team of 6 analysts where 3 are doin/ completed the ICFAI CFA and the remaining 3(including me) r doin CFA (AIMR) and not only r they(ICFAI guys) just as good as ones who r doin CFA (AIMR), but we also never have any arguments regarding which 1 is better or wats d result of the latest court hearing ! dats coz we RESPECT each other's qualifications and abilities, unlike some people here who have been making vile/unwanted/trash comments.seriously guys it takes nothing to make such comments...grow up !

so is dis to be interpretated that ICFAI CFA/MS Finance people DONT dream of joining or getting a break in these companies?

hehe...kidding!

Have YOU checkd the course content in detail to make dat statement?
am surprisd that mature ppl can do this :wow:

but then again u cant have evryhting...:satisfie:

I ask the same question to you that you are defending the American version.
Have you checked out the contents to dish out this to the thread members?

I am not confronting you but I wish to make this clear that the kind of doubts that are being expressed here are not as serious as they are made out to be and I know it for sure since I have gone through the grind and know how the employers perceive this degree.

Hope you dont take offence. If you do, and decide to carry the fight, make sure that I will be the one to finish it off!

Cheers !

Well, yes, people do have their own opinions and I respect that but its just that when something not so important is harped upon again and again that it begins to beat the main point of discussion in this thread i.e the preparation for exams and related discussion. That is why I asked the same question to you.

Cool, all the best for Level 2 preparation. BTW, what did you decide about FRM? Do tell me in that thread.

why would you associate BPO/KPO jobs wid somethign ur forced to accpt? they arent call centers ! KPOs have good jobs...depends on wat u call a KPO dat is...it cud b outsourced research.u cud do d same job in NY...they outsource it ehre cuz we do it for less than 10% of d cost

Well, if you look at the GICS classification, most of the stocks that I used to cover for the US fell under the "Industrials" SECTOR. However, like you must be knowing, the sector has 3 major Industry Groups- Capital Goods, Commercial Services & Supplies and Transportation. I did a lot of stocks across these three Industry Groups in the US.
Now I have expanded to EU (the other side of the pond called Atlantic Ocean) and I cover Consumers Discretionary and Staples (Sectors) which includes many industries such as retail, durables & apparel, media etc.
Somehow I want to get into trading, this is where the money lies. I feel all this equity research is crap now that I have spent a good 3 years into it. The market dynamics is something which the research is generally late to catch and the traders thrive upon.

Dear All,

I registered as a user a month back but nevertheless followed all posts of this happening thread for more than a year now. In a way PaGaLGuy and paricularly this thread are not new to me. But as a newly registered user, I thought of introducing myself. This has been due for quite sometime now. With unlimited access to internet at office, I became a Google addict - trying to google all that came to flow through my cerebral passages. This is how I happened to discover this thread.

Just to give you a background about myself - I qualified as a CFA (CCFA) & a MS(Finance) - ICFAI in Jan this year. This course was completed along with pursuing jobs at HP & at GENPACT. This was a real challenge and I am happy that I was able to pull it off after three-and-a-half years of hardwork. Having qualified now, I have started looking at better pastures. My father is a Chartered Accountant in practice (I did not pursue CA because of what I term youth-resentment ). This environment has however given me a sound grounding in Accountancy which helps me appreciate finance better.

I thank you all for having shared your views, your advice and experience on this message board. As I browsed through these posts during my pre-qualification days, I was able to get a feel of the thoughts of the fellow student community. With no friends or acquaintances pursuing CFA then, I would have been totally lacking in this exposure but for this thread. It being pay-back time now, let me know if I could be of help to anybody. I shall be more than glad to share my experience and participate in the discussion.

Hindolam

Hi Hindolam,

Welcome to the forums. Congrats for completing CFA and Ms finance. It is great to note that you completed the course along with job pressure.

I want to ask you 2 things:

1) Which group/groups you found difficult in terms of studies?

2) Since you have completed in jan, you must have applied or attended some interviews to get the profile commensurate with your qualification. How is the employer perception towards ICFAI CFA?

Thanks,

hi, I have completed 2 levels of ms finance and working for a KPO as a trainee analyst on prohbation basis 4 6mths. I dont know what will be my status in the company when the tenure is over.1. can u tell me the value of ms finance and the average pay that is being offered2. do the employers differentiate between the US and the Indian CFA3. is it comparable to an MBA from a reputed B school4. will it be reconized in the US/Europe.
