Welcome to the forums. Congrats for completing CFA and Ms finance. It is great to note that you completed the course along with job pressure.
I want to ask you 2 things:
1) Which group/groups you found difficult in terms of studies?
2) Since you have completed in jan, you must have applied or attended some interviews to get the profile commensurate with your qualification. How is the employer perception towards ICFAI CFA?
Thanks,
Thanks Babu. 1) I found the Groups Kappa & Lambda the toughest. I cleared Lambda in my third attempt. That made me reasonably good at Banking regulatory norms 😃 2) I joined GENPACT as a Credit Risk Consultant in early November 2006 when I had two more groups(Theta & Sigma) to go. This was secured on the combination of both my prior experience (of 3 years at HP as a Financial Analyst) and having completed the ADF (CFA - Level II). I had joined a team at GENPACT where my peers include engineers from IIT, MBAs from MDI, XLRI MA in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and MSc in statistics. When I showed my employers the certificate of membership in Jan'07, sensing that I might quit have assured to promote me as a manager in few months down the lane (Whether this materialises or not is not the question here - but their concern that I might leave). That apart, I received an offer from the Hindu Business Line as a Research Analyst at Chennai. I had applied purely to guage the response of prospective employers. CAs were also called for the same interview which speaks volumes about the worth of this course. It is important to note that I was interviewd despite my not so relevant KPO experience.

Great Hindolam. Consultant position in India's largest ITES is too good. Just one clarification: Is your profile same like of business analyst in genpact (band 4 profile) ?
Did you applied to infosys knowledge services? My friend got there as analyst after completing CFA course in Nov 06
Being a finance course, it must be demanding a sound knowledge in Mathematics. I've been out of touch with maths for a long time now. Do u think it would be difficult to switch over to mathematics mode? As of now, i rate my maths skills as NIL.

The role of a Consultant here is to give a business perspective of the process and also to mentor Business Analysts. So yes...I shall have to know all that a business analyst does from an operational perspective, understand it from a broader business perspective and be able to mentor them. It is therefore a managerial job position. Typically a consultant's position is above a business analyst in the job position hierarchy. A Consultant eventually rolls up into a Senior Consultant and a Principal Consultant (which would be an AVP level position).
I haven't applied at Infosys yet. Maybe if you could introduce me to your friend I could understand what his/her role is? 😃
Do u Guys know that there is going to be a hearing this month over the CFA, trade mark. I hope ICFAI wins.In ICFAI's website it is mentioned that they have won most of the arguments.I also Hope that the CFA bill is past. Can some tell me watz the max paypackage a ms(fin) holder from ICFAI gets. CFA(usa) is publishing adds very often in the newspapers. I feel no one is enrolling with icfai for ms(finance).
The hearing is on April 21, 2007. I am 100% sure that ICFAI is going to win.:grab:

One will be a qualified CFA from ICFAI after clearing Delta- 16 papers in a sequence. After becoming CFA, a student can start/change his/her professional career and then complete the remaining groups along with the job.
Here are changes made effective from July 2007:
With a view to improve the delivery of knowledge and to integrate different elements of finance domain in a cohesive manner, the subjects in Group Delta, Epsilon, and Kappa of MS (Finance) program are realigned.
Groups Subjects
Delta Security Analysis Portfolio Management and Mutual Funds
Epsilon International Finance and Trade Project Management
Kappa Investment Banking and Financial Services Financial Risk Management
The revised format will become applicable in the examinations to be conducted from July 2007 onwards.

I think all these queries can be answered by TumTum only.
Dear friends......I think what we at this forum lack is some sane thinking. I am one of you and still not commenting on anything and in a way that some on this forum are commenting because I am a firm believer of wait & watch policy. First let the outcome of the court case be out and let ICFAI get screwed, then only will I make efforts to shout at the top of my lungs. I dont want to waste my efforts about something I don't know "fully". This because half-baked knowledge is harmful and like many on this forum, I dont want to make value-based judgements on the basis of knowledge of partial truth. As such, if you sift back through the pages of this thread, you will find that I have answered such queries (especially from Ketan) time and again and now I choose not to write repetitive posts. This is the reason that I am not going to answer your queries Ketan and Saunak. Hope you guys dont mind. Regards.

Dear TumTum,
You are absolutely right.
There is no meaning in entering into a pointless debate.
The better thing would be to wait and watch, after all the hearing is on 21st April, 2007 which perhaps won't be an end to the issue.
As far as what others are saying is concerned, we should keep one thing in mind, ICFAI is not an immature body and whatever it will do will be wise. (After all they have spent so many years in building such a valuable course and it's reputation)
TumTum, I had to call you because I thought you are the only person who could put an end to this disoriented debate.

Sorry could not reply earlier. Was on Statutory Bank Audit with my father untill the 9th. A lot seems to have happened in this thread over this time.
I do not think there is an Investment Banking COE in GENPACT. I remeber its EVP(Business Development) say that GENPACT does not presently have capabilities to serve Investment Banking Clients.
Anyway, Iam in Orkut as 'Bharatan Iyengar'. Let me know if you were able to add me.
I am completely new to this CFA and MS(Finance) thing that is going around here. Infact I am unnaware also to the terms also that are used on this forum but trying hard to acquaint myself with the terminology asap, so I can join the race. For eg: Just came to know that UGC stands for "University Grants Commission". (Just FYI to let people here who might reply to this post know were I stand on the CFA / Finance platform). I am a commerce graduate and have done IATA (International Air Transport Association) course. I have 4 years work experience with the Travel Industry + BPO. Since I have decided to change my field, I was introduced to ICFAI - MS(Finance) 360 Flexible Distance Learning course by a friend of mine who is pursuing the course here in Mumbai.
I had a few questions comning up in my mind and a lot of confusion which I would like to get cleared before I go ahead and enrol for the ICFAI course, here in Mumbai. Will post my questions as and when I think of them, for now here is what came up in my mind.
1. I have been hearing a lot of debate over the CFA USA program and ICFAI CFA. What is it all about ? I know that US Cfa has lost the case againt UK CFA.
2. Is ICFAI approved by AICTE ? Can one use the "CFA" designation on completion of the MS (Finance) 360 Flexible Learning Program, from ICFAI ? I know for sure that the course from ICFAI is more in-depth and very good compared to the US CFA program.
3. Where can one enrol for for the USA CFA program ? How do I go about enrolling for one, if I have to ?
4. Does ICFAI MS (Finance), Mumbai, have any recognition globally, in countries like US, UK, etc. ?
This is all I can think of for right now. Will surely ask more questions later.
Regards Nayna
Additional Question:
5. What is the difference btw the ICFAI Campus and IFCAI Distance course ? Is the course content different ? If yes, then how ? Is it worth doing the ICFAI Distance course from Mumbai, coz I will not be able to join the Hyderabad campus. Need help on this one for sure.
My first post in this thread, though I have been following this thread for a long time. I am planning to join this course in June/July 2007 along with my MBA....
Don't know whether it is a viable option or not...but if it requires hard work I am ready ofr it.
Will ask you guys about more details, and help in near future.
Thanks for all the comments and suggestions made in this thread.
