Brother, since we are not given any information about "n"(even or odd), we can only take a-b to be a 'certain' factor of given expression, so answer according to me would be 101-1=100
The book is our beloved M.Tyra
Bhai question mein largest divisible poocha hai yaar.... ab tu hi bata kya karu uska??

The largest number from the following which divides (101^100) - 1 is
a)100
b)10000
c)100^100
d)100000
Pavi, please post the right answer of this question.
@anticipator.lad
I got it through binomial expansion.

You are correct, 'largest' divisor would be 10000 only.

Though through the concept explained in M.Tyra 100 would certainly be a divisor as implied form the ans i.e, 10000.
@harshsingal27 thanks bhai... :)

Pavi, please post the right answer of this question.

10,000 is the rite ans...
(101^1 - 1) to (101^9 - 1) will be divisible by 100
(101^10 - 1) to (101^99 - 1) will be divisible by 1000,
therefore (101^100 - 1) will be divisible by 10,000.

buddy there is a direct formulae for these kind of question

{1+(4a+1)^1/2}/2

here a=6 put that you will get the answer

A took 2 loans altogether of 1200 from B and C. B claimed 14% simple interest and c claimed 15% per annum. total interest paid by A in one yr was 172. then A borrowed.....

a) 800 from c
b)625 from c
c) 800 from b
d) 400 from b

d)3012
3011* (3011+1)
= (3011*3011) + 3011
= 3011^2 + 3011

so 3011 is the least required number we are looking for.

c) 800 from b
d) 400 from b
Let A took loan 'x' from B and (1200-x) from C.

Total Interest paid by A to B + Total Interest Paid by A to C = Rs.172

=>{ (x * 14 * 1 ) / 100} + [{1200- x} * 15 * 1 } / 100] = 172

solve for x; we get x= 800; i/e/ 800 loan from B and 400 from C
