Can someone give me an idea about preference of MBA colleges other than IIMs. that accept CAT scores. I want to have my options available if I don't get calls from IIMs beacuse of my low graduation percentage.
Iim raipur vs iim rohtak ? Any good advices where to pursue ?
Going through 100s of quora posts, pagalguy thread discussion, Coaching transcripts, various b-world websites and talking to coaching mentor and my college alumni in various b-schools.(I am from state engg. college)-
If you want top end consulting/IB finance-choose IIM if you have good grades and you are from IIT/NIT/BITS/DCE-Like IIM L over XL and FMS.IIM I and IIM K over MDI/SPJAIN. Strictly speaking if your UG alma is not good then even if you get Gold Medal In IIM, you will not find any shortlist in these companies.
IIM tag is quite subjective. For common people, its IIM in management education or nothing. For aspirants, ask between XL/FMS and IIM K/IIM I-Choose XL/FMS as IIM tag dont matter much in longer term and XL/FMS has good alumni base+better average package+ROI(in case of FMS).
Ask between SPJAIN/MDI and IIM I and IIM K, IIM tag matters in longer run(contradictory to previous choice) and both IIM will surpass SPJAIN/MDI in placement in future. So, weight of IIM tag is bound to increase. In future, it might happen that IIM Trichy, Raipur, Rohtak, Ranchi will start becoming favourite choices than SPJAIN/MDI.
Ask any NON IIM vs IIM for marketing, People will say go for XL/SPJAIN/FMS/MDI as marketing role are better in these college. Some says even that For Marketing XL/SPJAIN/MDI/FMS are Just below IIM A/B/C.
The thing is PERCEPTION has become quite a BIG THING IN MANAGEMENT EDUCATION. In future, It might become that only XLRI(being oldest management institute) and FMS(ROI) survives and all other institution will be surpassed by New IIMs.
The irony is that one of my senior said few months back that IIM Indore is not worth over SPJAIN/MDI because of batch size and problem in placement, but now he is saying Put IIM Indore above these institute as many top companies are diverting from SPJAIN/MDI to IIM K and IIM I (like BCG, HUL) and even to new IIMs.
Hence, in present scenario many top institution are at risk of being left out like SPJAIN/MDI/IIFT/NITIE and it is feared that these institute might become NMIMS/IMT/SIBM, Which few years ago were top 15 institute but no more considered the same. I hope I covered as many points as possible to discuss. Any insights from u guys will be welcomed.
With acads 85.5/78.8/77 in 10th/12th/grad And work experience of 25 months in I.T.(during cat 18 registration) is it worth giving cat again.? Had 96.91 %ile in cat 17
