Hi, I am a current NUS MBA student happy to accept questions and help people interested in applying to and attending NUS. Just one caveat - please understand that we’re towards the end of our semester here and so I will not reply to yo…
Hi,
Semester 1 is officially over here so I will be relatively free-er to help. I also want you all to keep an eye out for NUS Connect - an event organised by the school where current student(s) will invite people in major cities and they can ask anything and everything under the sun.
Hi,I just got an interview call from NUS. I wanted to know how close I am to getting accepted? Are a lot of people invited for the interview (what percentage of number of applicants) and what percentage of applicants who are called for the interview are accepted? Are there any specific topics apart from the contents of my application which I need to prepare myself with, for the interview?
Hi totalf1 (thats an interesting name :))
First of all kudos to you for taking this initiative. I have some queries, it will be great if can have an experts opinion. 😃
Q1. Whats the placement scenario, is it so that its easier for certain concentrations and relatively tough for other concentrations ?
Q2. In market or from recruiters perspective, what are the various strengths that NUS project. I mean is there a specific concentration that is more famous among recruiters and they are more interested in recruiting students from that concentration.
Q3. I am having an IT background and would like to join IT Company after my MBA as Business Analyst. What are the prospects of IT companies.
Q4. How much time does it take to repay the loan - average/general idea will be great!
Q5. Regarding the monthly expenditure, can you please provide ballpark figure for avg Indian studying in Singapore.
Thanks again for taking this initiative.
How many of the current/senior student with IT background made a switch to Finance ? Which areas in Finance do NUS grads land jobs ?
Hi, as i do not have much idea about the MBA program at NUS.. just to start with, can you plz let me know what score would be considered as decent for applying to this college.. pardon me if this query is already being answered before in this thread.. TIA
Hi wots the percentage of Indians in the NUS MBA program?
Hi, wanted to know if there is any difference in the number of intakes from R1 v/s R2? Does R1 offer better chances (owing to more offers) compared to R2?
First of all thanks for taking the initiative. I really appreciate it.
I am planning to apply for NUS MBA program in 2015. After a fair assessment of my background and capabilities, NUS seems like the best option available to me at this point. My background involves a combination of an excellent job (marketing and sales) in a not-so-well-known company and some entrepreneurial stuff (moderately successful). I have a good educational background and a few extracurricular achievements under my name. I don't think GMAT would be a problem for me.
I don't want to bother you with questions regarding my chances of getting into NUS €“ I will leave that to the admission committee to decide. I, rather, have very specific questions regarding the job prospects and visa situation in Singapore €“ i) Is it more difficult for foreigners (read Indians) to bag job interviews than the locals due to their legal status? Here, I am drawing an analogy with the US universities where locals have somewhat unfair advantage (source: my brothers). (ii) How easy or difficult did your seniors (if you are already interviewing then your batch as well) find to score a job there in the current environment? Is it a very stressful process? How much of his/her time a student at NUS dedicates to finding a job verses studies?
Please try to be brutally honest and as detailed as possible. I highly appreciate your help. Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions.
Hi ... Have interview calls for round 1 (Jan 31st deadline) been rolled out ? Has anyone got any interview call yet
Did anyone get interview call post R1 deadline (Jan 31, 2014)? Any official communication from NUS regarding interview calls?
Hello TotalF1,
Thanks for taking this initiative. A little bit about myslef, I am tax consultant in US (Certified Public Accountant) and work in optimizing and streamling tax department for Fortune 500 (i dont do tax returns, rather I optimize tax functions i.e. reduce man hours in tax department). In a nutshell, you can say I create process or strategies to make the tax department work more efficiently and reduce cost.
I would like to move to Asia so applied in NUS. I got an admit for 2014.
I want to get into broader roles for either finance (tax is a function of finance) OR Strategy. I would appricatie if you can provide some insight
1. which companies recruit from these two departments at NUS is one department better know than the other
2. Is one department has a better brand value than the other?
Thanks.
