Hello seniors,
My results are :

Section 1 : 16
Section 2 : 25.5
Section 3 : 5
Section 4 : 3.5
Total : 50
AIR : 1766

my acads are pretty goood..have 84% in engg till date...I'm a fresher so no work ex...
Wat are my chances to get a call from iitm???
Pls guide me...:smile:

Rank is a bit problem but ur acads can do wonders.
So just chilax and keep ur fingers crossed.

XII th 87.2%
Xth 91.4 %

Do i stand a chance of getting a call from IITM??

also a score of 52 fetched a rank of 1291..

pls throw some light upon how the IITs would decide on whom to give a call since the difference in the score is 0.5 only but the rank difference is around 125.

I am not seeing rank posted in 1100-1300 ranges much.
My Rank is 1192 fairly balanced.
X 84.25
XI 82.5
Engg (JU) 8.14(77 %)
Working in leading telecom MNC(software) Work ex- 19 months(till today)

Have avarage ex-curr(all in school) god job performence(awards and early promotion)
Do I stand a chance to get a cal from IIT-M.

@siddharth,
As we have already mentioned earlier the last rank to join IIT M last year was 1500+, so assuming a similar patern you stand a very good chance of getting a call. As far as the criterion for giving out calls are concerned, it is never made public and you never know what the admission committee is looking for in a batch. Just hope for the best.

Are sectional scores matter after the rank..
If yes.. how much needed?
Its important , as i am gettin only 3.5 in VA...
Rest all clear + i will be in top 10 in LR(got 30.25/40)

With your rank i think your chances of getting a call are bleak. But it also depends a lot on your profile and a good SOP can do wonders. So if you can convince the faculty with a damn good SOP you might have an outside chance.

We do not know how much each individual in our class scored in each section. It would be extremely difficult to find such data. But the fact that you have got a rank means that you have cleared the cut off...so now individual sectional scores dont matter a lot. Its upto your performance on GT/PI henceforth

Yes you do stand an outside chance to get a call. You would need a very good SOP to build a strong case.

This kind of data is not made public by the institute, so would be very difficult to say.

Dude!!! Getting a call at this rank depends a lot on ur profile.
So I would urge everybody to simply apply and wait for the short list because u never know. Faculty may like ur profile n send a call.

Yeah, you have strong chances of getting a call. Do apply.

Placements are very good and very much 100%. This years placements are through and the figures will be out very soon. Just to put things in perspective, last yr our avg salary was 8 lakhs with each candidate being offerred 1.42 jobs. From what we have heard this year the figures are going to be better than these.
