For one Week (Feb 14-21) ITM - Business School, Navi Mumbai celebrates the Entrepreneurship
Week. E Week focuses public attention on today's biggest opportunities
and encourages participants to reflect on their role as leaders and
innovators. The campaign is led by the National Entrepreneurship Network
(NEN) and supported by the Wadhwani Foundation . E Week's dramatic
results in the past - building support for entrepreneurs - is
encouraging ever more participation. The campaign will see active
involvement of many organizations that support entrepreneurship;
corporate entities; industry captains, experts, non-profits, and faculty
leaders to inspire, encourage, and guide students.
E WEEK 2015 THEME:
CREATING JOBS FOR MILLIONS.
Institute for Technology and Management is in itself a product of
the entrepreneurial efforts of an engineer who gave up an enviable
position in a well established company to pursue his dream of
establishing an unaided educational institute to meet industry needs.
Its growth in a short period of less than two decades, reflects the
entrepreneurial capabilities of this entrepreneur.
It was only
natural for ITM to create an ecosystem on its campus that nurtures the
entrepreneurial spirit of students on its campuses and lend a helping
hand to people who strongly believe in their dreams. EVision is driven
by this goal.Starting with small group of students in 2006, today,
EVision comprises of over 220 student members, half a dozen faculty and
an equal number of alumni entrepreneurs.
The aim is to build a
ecosystem that students can depend on should they want to learn about
entrepreneurship or become an entrepreneur.
The E-Cell at ITM Navi
Mumbai took shape in August 2006. It was the culmination of efforts by
the Dean, Dr. A. K. Dasbiswas, to introduce Entrepreneurship teaching in
the management curriculum at ITM. The effort began in February 2006
when he invited Ms.Sunita Singh, of the National Entrepreneurship
Network, to visit ITM on 7th February 2006. Besides then, this meeting
was attended by Dr. C. S.Adhikari, Prof. J. A. Bhavsar, Prof. B. V. R.
Murty and Prof.Prema Basargekar. Ms.Sunita Singh recommended the
formation of an E-Cellat ITM with key faculty members as coordinators
and with voluntary registration of students.
A tentative road map
for developing E-cell in collaboration with NEN was also worked out. It
was decided that E-cell would primarily be led and driven by students
under the overall guidance of the faculty coordinators and external
support from NEN.Prof. Prema Basargekar and Prof.Shailja Karve were
assigned the task to form the E-Cell and they familiarised the students
with the concept of Entrepreneurship Cell.
More than 40 students
registered and the E-Cell was born.In the beginning, emphasis was put on
building awareness about entrepreneurship. By 2009 the focus shifted to
making Entrepreneurship Activities Sustainable and with this in mind a
course on Entrepreneurship was introduced in 2009.
Now, E-cell has come up with a new event called "E - Week".

M1 Batch presented a Skit on Underprivileged Children highlighting the
major issue where Children strive for even the basic necessities like
food and clothes, where, on one hand people celebrate festivals with
lights and colour and on the other lighting a cracker on Diwali is a
luxury.
Students tried to bring out this issue by showcasing a
skit where a group of underprivileged children watching others wearing
new clothes and celebrating. A couple on seeing these children sad,
approaches them, they donates old clothes to them. To others they might
be old and rugs but to those children it brought happiness, an
opportunity to enjoy the festival as others. They request not all the
