FOSTIIMA B-School is a new business school. But it is a very good business school. Being established by IIMA alumni, the standard of studies is very good. Kind of study pattern they follow is set after studying IIMA syllabus and market trends. The faculty there is very good most of them are from IIMA. So it's a good choice to go for. Hi there, as far as I have enquired, its a set up by the IIMA alumnis of 72-73 batch. Every faculty belongs to IIMA or some other reputed B-School like FMS. They have a tie up with the Pondichery university for the MBA as well as BBA degree. Moreover, they have included some other things in their course. They have also included a foreign language to learn i.e. japanese. Can be a good option to go for.....

Summer internships are going on in full swing,these are all stipend paid summer jobs.
I think this is the right time to join this institution and if you fillin the application form by 25th march 2009 you will become eligible for scholarship.

Well! FOSTIIMA Business School (FBS) is one of the upcoming colleges as mentioned by Shobhit.
Its a nice college to be in not just because they have all the faculties from IIM-A or similar level B-schools but also to take lot practical experience which we all are going to face in the corporate world. As in at every step you'll be learning how you take decisions in a professional life.
Though the college is new but all the faculties and the management are all experienced people and are always there to share their Corporate experiences.

Regarding the Placement scenario, would like to mention that people are getting placed in companies like NASSCOM, ICICI, 4C+ and many other top rated companies with very nice packages. I believe should visit the college once and try interacting with people out there, faculties, students, management, etc.
I think that will give you the true picture about the college.

Hi,

FOSTIIMA is a great upcoming B-School.
100% placement with highest salary offered is 11.6 lakh and average compensation is around 4-5 lakh.

Now what makes me happy is FOSTIIMA as a policy matter only accepts stipend summer placements, thus 100% summer placements stipend based.

All the FOSTIIMA Students of the 2008 - 2010 Batch have been Summer placed with stipends up to Rs. 15,000 per month.

Total Faculty - IIM Alumni , all trustees as well, FOSTIIMA people say, "The largest group of IIM Ahmedabad Grad's together......... in any one Organisation"

Now this may be promotional phrase used in ads, but I was impressed 😃 by its implications. In company of 35+ IIM alumni is what matters to me, I know they will help me carve out my career, the way i want.

FOSTIIMA is Located at the most happening place of the national capital, South Ex, in a modern air-conditioned building with latest multimedia and instructional technology, running both Graduate and post-graduate courses.

A fully air conditioned Hostel facility is provided at a walking distance from campus

Its not worth ..
a friend of mine admitted to Fostima, South Ex.
she opted out in the middle of the course citing poor administration.
there were no classes at all on some days

it felt like some holiday and students spending time in the cafeteria..
surely not advisable for your career.

Rest is upto you to choose!

i think the college area wise isnt that big.also i had seen a photo of their clasroom. students were very very congested.
also in their site they dont show the ful campus, only the front building.
i may b wrong ,but this is wat i feel...

Points highlighted by you people are namely, 1. Poor Administration , 2. Classroom size.

I would answer both with factual and detailed info.

But before that let me ask,

1. Why people hire IIM grads in organisations:

a. Unmatched Managerial and leadership skills.
b. Unrivaled administrative expertise
c. Ability to navigate the system through cross functional teams and coordinated efforts.

these are few aspects , among many for hiring IIM grads at astronomical packages.

I feel if any given organisation is having all IIM grads taking care of Administration, it s bound to have a solid and functional system in place. [ FOSTIIMA is having all administration, faculty and management comprised of IIM Grads ]
At the same time there can be hiccups for the sole reason, you cant be IIM Ahmadabad from day 1.

FOSTIIMA is a new institute comparatively, started with a VISION and CSR intent of FOUNDERS, as they say, they wanna give back to society , what they owe to it. Its a benign effort rather a profit making venture.

Now there are some issues which can be there, at System level, which are sorted out systematically and there are issues which might be there with any individual. We aspire to be at utmost help to each student at FOSTIIMA, but always the fault is not at institute's end.

Also I would mention that a new institute has to improve intake standards progressively, and no one can deny that quality of input also relates to no. of individual issues at times, although its not fair to generalize things.

So first point raised by Vignesh, I ll attest the fact that extreme focus is given on Experiential learning and theoretical foundation for future managers at FOSTIIMA, there could have been a individual issue or system glitch earlier but it has been taken care of well,

For point 2, ie Class size, I would welcome Saurabh to campus to have a feel of ambiance and space. There might be a photograph which u ve seen where a conference would have been there, with many attendees then a regular class, as our class size is limited for best comfort and is quite spacious. We have uploaded a virtual tour at site where u can have a better understanding.

IMPORTANT is issues are there but whats the approach to deal with issues in any given system.

FOSTIIMA is the acronym of "Friends of (batch of ) Seventy Three of IIM-Ahmedabad" where u will find many ex CEO's / Director's mentoring / teaching budding managers.

The Largest Group of IIM A MBA's together in any one organization, Management Education as good as IIMs, thats the promise and motive.

All the administration, trustees... From IIM and IIT
All the Faculty here, [30 +] from IIM A and IIT which has more than 30-34 year of experience in their respective fields

So I ve elaborated all aspects which I found relevant and hope that will substantiate my point that we intent to provide best experience and results for all students and are working in creating a flawless management education eco system.

We care for careers of students, its the basic foundation for all our endeavors.

As a student of the FOSTIIMA Business School situated in South Extension, I can assure you that the faculty (which is all from the IIMs and FMS) is very serious about its teaching commitments (even in these days of dense fog and intense cold). Not a single class is missed by them. For students the attendance criteria is 85% or they cant give the exams and can also be fined. The pressure of assignments and PPTs is intense and relentless.
The administrators are from IIMs and concerned about their reputation (FOSTIIMA is an acronym for Friends of Seventy Three of IIM Ahmedabad) and certainly dont permit any goofing about. In fact there is no great cafeteria for spending time. Students are always at their laptops in classrooms and library completing assignments. Guest lectures on Friday , and compulsory classes on Sunday keep us very busy apart from team building exercises at Corbett (again under an IIMA trainer). FOSTIIMA is NOT the place for relaxation and bunking.

i never doubt your point "aggregation of IIM grads"
no question about it...

but this thread is about a query about your institute.
I am not a student of that institute but i have my classmates studying there

i get feedback from them regularly.

what i was saying (in previous post) that there has to be a proper decorum, in any B-School. A strict regime has to followed to nurture future managers.

Again, my emphasis is on the management of time.

I apologise, if my post offended anyone. But i just gave in the feedback i received without editing!

So I saw this, u seem to be highly confused. I am not even able to understand, u re against your Batch-Mates? Management ? and Other Batches? Many of the things you have mentioned are either exaggerated or not factual. If management asks fines for non attendance (absence) and the money is used for student benefit, any harm?

I am looking forward to my river rafting visit to shivpuri, but being strict for enforcing attendence is in our own benefit. And I went for Naukri.Com Interview. All of us were there on time, except one, who got stuck in Traffic Jam.

I am a student of fostiima Business School, I want to share my experience regarding fostiima till now.

Students were said that Fostiima has a tie up with SBI and PNB so they applied in these banks. But soon students were told that( by the banks) no tie up are there, they have been discontinued.



I availed bank loan, for paying my fees. Naturally to take bank loan you have to fulfill conditions of bank , but at the same time, tie ups help in easing out the sanctioning process.

Now you talked about Placement - Factually Incorrect.

One Thing u said and which I strongly disagree, is placement. Best of the companies are coming for placements including Banks, Consulting, IT-ITES, Financial Services, Insurance, Logistics, FMCG, its hard to pen down all names and even not wise as detailed list is always there at website ... and offering very good packages. I think the placement committee is doing a good job and I am quite sure getting a good placement for myself and my batch.
About Campus...

Once you are inside campus its as modern as one can expect. When we took admissions here we saw the place and opted it, my advise to anyone is, if not IIM's then FOSTIIMA is the place and I will invite all of you to see our noticeboard for info on the companies visiting and packages on offering.
