Equity Markets

@Raghav

I have also not studied eco but have learnt only by reading newspapers

The forex reserve will increase only when the inflow will be more than outflow, which is not happening till now as the FIIs are taking more money out.

I think RBI should have bought forex reserves for such circumstances earlier say in Nov 2007(as abhimukh quoted) which would had given RBI a liberty in this situation and would have decreased the loss of exporters at that time. I think RBI is late on both occasions.

What is your opinion guys?

I think we should start at least one issue here daily as it will increase exposure of fellow puys.

We can start by telling the type of investments one is making

I have just started the same and am into MFs and gold.

Hey Puyz,

All of us in this thread fall in the category of investor / trader, I guess. So it is apparent that all of us have access to various financial reports of various companies. I think it will be beneficial for everyone of us if we start sharing these Financial Reports. It will enable us to gain more idea & gather more knowledge about many companies. Many of us would be having these reports in pdf or other doc format. If you want to share this useful information, you are very welcome :)

Of course we can access these reports from websites like moneycontrol & other such websites, but wouldn't it be great if we get to access the companies' report per se? If moderators don't mind and if it doesn't violate PG rules, can we share these files on this thread per se?

P.S. : I've got HDFC Bank's last quarter report in pdf format. If anyone is interested, PM me your email id with the request. If anyone has such reports of other companies, do let me know 😃

P.P.S. : Is there any such website from where we can get companies' reports periodically in our email account whenever released, for free or for nominal charges? If there is any such, kindly share it here.

has anyone played moneybhai game on moneycontrol....iam having an issue while buying stocks as it is giving me "company not traded" can anyone tell what does this mean and what are the conditions while buying the stocks

Rupee is having a free fall.
Looking at the market conditions I feel it will open around 53 mark. No good news to stop this free fall in the near future because
1 yesterdays IIPs figures were not very good
2 Thursday's inflation figures are expected to be good but not enough to stop this bloodbath at DS. It will be a time for profit booking.
3 RBI mid quarter meeting.

Hope we will have a clear picture at the end of this week.

You will get many research reports here

Broker Research Reports, Stocks/Shares Research Reports, Indian Stocks/Shares Research Reports

aprofessor Says
Reecession seems to be hitting again. I hope we dont see 10,000 level

A 14k Level is very much possible , but dont see it getting below that mark , the Indian growth story is too good for the complete outflow of FII investment 😃

Rupee touching 55.5/56 and Sensex dropping to sub 14000 have a strong probability. DII are at all time low on confidence and only saving point will be if LIC and other insurance companies pull out their cash reserve and pull markets up. Valuations are good but end consumer demand are not meeting expectations. The first indicator of recovery the auto sectors are also giving nagetive vibes on immediate market recovery. FII are always a negative story for Dec and this year wont be different.

Will be wait and watch strategy but if your investment period is 18 months and beyond, put cash in both large cap and mid cap.

ciao..

How can LIC put their cash in market as they must be keeping only the required liquid cash in hand naa?

Secondly why are you saying that FIIs are always negative in Dec?

What's your stand on the measures done by RBI on inflation, growth & falling rupee?

Check any cash/liquid ratio for LIC/GIC or any other government backed FI, they always have a healthy ratio and always prove to be government's man friday on such occassions. Check trading stats when govt intervenes on market falls and see the DII capital infusion break up.

FII's also close their year in Dec. Many of their settlement, benefits and compensation (annual bonuses & all) happen pre X-Mas. Therefore unless markets have a very very strong valuation prospect, FII's will pull money out of all emerging markets. Generally Nov 15- Dec 15th are plough back days for FII's. Pls check sensex data available on sebi website for exact figures and trend analysis.

Growth is basically a government driven initiative and RBI for the entire year has been on the crossroad of inflationary pressure v/s growth story. It preferred the rate increase method to curb supply as its always a stronger and quick kill method. On falling rupee, let the market determine the same, RBI should not intervene. Pls also check India's comparision with other emerging markets and see their currencies fluctuation vis-a-vis $.

More or less, markets will remain commitment phobic and super reactionary as investors no longer have confidence on any particular measures/legislations. Government need to be more proactive and strong in moving ahead and clearing the long pending bills and legislations. Secondly Euro needs to stabilize or give a final picture fast for markets to get over the sentiments. Mind it markets have already discounted Euro Crisis, still with every news, the discounting figure increases. Thirdly to balance out Euro, US will have to show a progressive trend in its economic data. May be a three months straight positive movement will give back confidence to the investors.

ciao..
Hi
in technical analysis in price correction stocks, level is taken at
1) 33% or 40% or 50% ?

Technical Analysis has many tools, for which tool your talking about ?

Hey Puyz,

This year there was a freaking lot turbulence in Stock Markets & other Financial Markets as well. Lots of people would be having following concerns in such turbulent times. Experienced puyz, kindly share your views & knowledge on these matters.

1) What strategy an Individual Investor should adhere to in this kind of situation? I mean there are lots of investors who can't invest in US, China or any other countries and most of their capital is tied up in either BSE or NSE, which are going only way (as of now) - downwards. So how can one protect/hedge oneself from this irrational behavior?

2) What about strategy of investors who can and who are capable of investing all over the globe? From where do they pull out their funds and where do they tend to park it?

3) What strategy do FIIs, Portfolio Managers, Hedge Fund Managers, I-Bankers and many multimillionaire investors follow in this scenario, all over the world?

4) I've read that Portfolio Managers, Brokers, Fund Managers and everyone those who work in the Investment industry aren't allowed to "trade" in stocks, at least officially. So how do they manage to make money in a bear market as well as a bull market?

Thanks, in advance

So how can one protect/hedge oneself from this irrational behavior?
One can hedge his position in derivatives markets, say by purchasing the Put Options or by shorting the futures.
If there are no bear markets, one will never get to purchase stocks at mouth watering prices. and in turn, he will not be able to make cherry in Bull Markets. So rather than hating Bear markets , thank them for providing an opportunity.

2) What about strategy of investors who can and who are capable of investing all over the globe? From where do they pull out their funds and where do they tend to park it?
They pull out the funds from risky asset classes and park them in the safe asset classes. Like this year, they have been selling Equities and buying Dollar or US Treasuries or other safe havens like German Bunds / Swiss Franks or Gold (Although I reserve my opinion considering Gold as a safe haven)

3) What strategy do FIIs, Portfolio Managers, Hedge Fund Managers, I-Bankers and many multimillionaire investors follow in this scenario, all over the world?
Short Equities , Long Treasuries can be one.

4) I've read that Portfolio Managers, Brokers, Fund Managers and everyone those who work in the Investment industry aren't allowed to "trade" in stocks, at least officially. So how do they manage to make money in a bear market as well as a bull market?
Portfolio Managers/Fund Managers may not be trading indicidually. But they share a good chunk of the profits earned from investing the funds of the company.
As a principle, anyone can make money in bear markets by selling shorts and in bull markets by Buying longs

Thanks, in advance

I tried to answer the questions in bold.

Currently i am sure two types of strategies are being followed

Buying the undervalued stocks , which will grow in a period of 1-2 years

Shortselling it on intraday basis , our markets follow US markets a lot , so even before the opening of the exchange people do know where the market is headed

Hi,

Has anyone heard of Brick work Ratings? The only thing I know about this company is that it a credit rating agency. I'd like to know more about it.

If anyone has some knowledge about this company I'd be grateful to hear from you

I had bought the RIL & Suzlon stock at 985 & 84 Resp.

But the market is now so down ... 800 and 34 >>>

Shit :X
