Was holding Cromptom Greaves from 225 levels.
Sold at 112 to see the stock up by over 6% today with strong volumes. Would anyone suggest me to pick it up at these levels again?
My outlook is of 6 months. Cant hold any longer than that.

Thanx for the advice.. :)
I know its best to hold equities for 2-5 yr targets. But I have some financial constraints and hence cant hold it any longer than May-June 2012.

Hi all,
Can somebody list out a few books on psychology of Investing and human (mis)behavior when it comes to investing?
As far as I know, following books are good read on the subject.
1) Black Swan : Nassim Nicholas Taleb
2) Fooled by randomness : Nassim Nicholas Taleb
3) Somewhere I read that Benjamin Graham also wrote a book on this subject, did he? Which one is it?
I think apart from valuing investments and calculating returns, we all ought to know "Behavioral Finance" and herd mentality. It gives us an edge to keep our sentiments in control when irrational behavior occurs.
I will be very glad & deeply grateful to hear from you puyz on this subject. So, what you say?

Got few names mentioned by Sanjay Bakshi (Thanks ABCLIKS :))
Found this in one of his articles.
"If the stock market is a crowd, then a study of crowds becomes essential for the thoughtful investor. Out of many books that have been written on the subject, if you read only four, you will get the finest instruction in contrary investing available anywhere in the world. These books are:
(1) Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds, by Charles Mackay;
(2) The Great Crash 1929, by John Kenneth Galbraith;
(3) A Short History of Financial Euphoria, by John Kenneth Galbraith; and
(4) The Crowd: A Study of Popular Mind, by Gustave Le Bon."

Yup, you gotta be omniscient - knowing the 'herd mentality' certainly helps...mull over what people will do & what opportunities they'll probably lose.
Benjamin Graham wrote 'The Intelligent Investor'...maybe u r talking abt it.
Anyone working for Capstone? What type of questions are asked in the apti test and interview?
Hi everyone,
Are there any websites which list out sales figures and statistics of various industries? Say, for example monthly car & bike sales, electronic items sales figures, consumer goods sales statistics, deposits made in banks, loans given by banks etc. etc.?
This will guide to figure out how a company is performing which is much better than finding out how the stock is performing. As someone said "When you are playing/watching a game, your focus should be on the playing field, not the scorecard!" Indeed a wise advice, isn't it?
(2) The Great Crash 1929, by John Kenneth
Does anyone has a softcopy of this book...
hello people.
i have heard that some asset management companies in India give personal portfolio management services.
can you share about it if you have any idea about it?
e.g. which companies provide those services, what are their service charges, is there any minimum limit of investment etc.etc.
i tried searching for such companies but couldn't find any relevant results, or may be i am searching in a wrong manner.

I think most of the brokerage firms provide such services, and if you want more personalised then check sub-brokers. And minmum investment should be 5 lakhs.
I don't want to violate any pg rules or i don't want to promote any company either. As i can access my broker's reports i am availing them for pg users. If it is, in any way, violating pg rules mods can delete it.
