I would suggest you get stated with the basic NCFM modules. These are basic fundas shared on the NSE website. Although stock markewt finally boils down to speculating for the most part, having good foundation on the basics will help in the long run and surely make your more confident in your decision taking.

First of all, I am also a noob in this area so what I am going to tell is very basic and seniors please correct me if i am wrong. Trading by definition is on the short term basis and generally only technical analyst do trading where as the value investors do investing aka long term investing. There is no clear demarcation between the two but for common purpose we can assume a period of less than an year as trading. Now coming to what they actualy are:

Technical Analysis/Trading:
This group rely on market trends and graphs (Japanese Candle Sticks is one among them) to predict the future movement of the stock. They generally look for very short term weeks or may be even intraday. To start learning on technical analysis I would suggest "Technical Analysis for Dummies". Good book to start with, I am just into the second chapter. You can find this book at 4shared.

Value Investing:
This is the Warren Buffett way. These folks read a lot from the three financial statements of the company and try to see if the company is going to improve intrinsically in the long term. A good book for this is "The Intelligent Investor" written by none other than Benjamin (Buffett's Guru). If you can read this book completely I thin youll be very good at it.

I would also ask seniors (keeler sir, ABCLIKS sir, Kaaliya to name a few) to share the source from which they learn fin related and stock analysis stuff.

PS: I found this analysis of a stock by MDI prof. Bakshi sir, really inspiring for the fresh folks and oldies alike .. read this http://fundooprofessor.wordpress.com/2011/04/24/vantage_point/

Technical analysis is an alternative approach to predicting stock price behavior.
It is frequently used as a supplement to fundamental analysis rather than as a substitute for it .. Technical analysis usually confirms findings based on fundamental analysis.

The technician believes that the forces of demand and supply are reflected in patterns of price and volume trading. By examination of these patterns, he predicts whether prices are moving higher or lower and by how much. He tries to identify the current trend and recognize when one trend comes to an end and the prices start in the opposite direction. He relies on price and volume indicators to predict the behaviour of the market and prepares charts depicting movement in prices.

Theories like Dow theory which illustrates the importance of Primary ,Secondary patterns and minor trends , Elliot wave theory ... the popular concept of resistance levels and support levels .. , Put Call Ratio, Moving averages a very popular concept , Double top , Double Bottom , triple top , triple bottom , then there are patterns such as head an shoulder , Relative strength Index

I guess if you open the Money Control Website and see the graph , you will see a lot of tabs showing different parameters and each parameters gives an analysis .. read more about these concepts or some of these concepts

One can also try the courses from FLIP which are anyday are better than NCFM modules ..

Huge cut... many of my trades are bleeding 😞

Banking stocks are booming buddy......50 bps is a pleasant surprise, must say....was expecting a 25 bps CUT...Thing to watch out for was Mr. Pranab mukherjee in his speech @CII announced the Cut(though not the exact figure's) 30mins. in advance...hahahaha....so,this decision by RBI was not their own stance...their was some amount of pressure from the central GOVT. 😃

Puys,Is this the best time to buy Infy(infosys) share ? What you guys think.
I believe from its current 2357 rs. it will certainly go up in coming few weeks.

What a decent & unexpected surprise given by RBI, for the Street.

Rate Sensitives are booming on this... For a Trader, this is a chance to play & make some money, especially in the Afternoon session, when Europe opens up...

CRR Cut was least expected, as per the liquidity stability in the system...

Infy & Bharti Airtel are a decent buy at the current levels, even though a slide fall of 4-5% from the current levels, can still be expected in these counters...

Heard SBI Lead (not Pratip Chaudhary) on CNBC-TV18, short while back, that, with the last CRR cut a couple of months ago, liquidity in the system has boomed & in turn, banks can pass this surplus to the customers, especially in the SME Segment.

Immediate effect of the today's Repo Rate cut, to be passed on to the customers, can be ruled out for the time being...
