Primary market action is weaning these days. What with dismissal listings of the recent issues.
Some few questions u should have the answers to before investing in an IPO
1. How good is the business
2. Competition
3. Future growth and income prospects
4.Its P/E, EPS compared to its peers in that sector
Otherwise
wait till the last few hours and then based on the oversubscription by
FIIs , IN investors u can decide to invest - this sure is a no brainer

i haven't applied to Saksoft..didnt see any opportunity....but as it has opened seems me made a mistake..
but see its opening on 11th(wednesday)...it has touched 108 again...10% down..
i think 120 was too much for the share..i have short sell it on 120...have made profits opposite wise to you..
i expect it to be less than 100 soon...
happy investing

How exactly do u go about shortselling.
I do know that u borrow shares from ur broker , sell it in the market.
Wait till the price drops nad then buy it from the market and return it to the broker.
How do i go about the whole process . I have an online trading account with ICICI.

i m a newbie to shortselling...have done it very few times...however
i use indiabulls for trading and i simply put the order for sell and the trade takes place...and buy shares when there is a dip...the rest work is done by indiabulls..
see SAKSOFT...have told u in the morning..it will cross 100 limit and it has done so touchin 97.4....have bought it and booked profits..
it would be interesting to see saksoft tomorrow...hop it rises for all investor's sake..

Actualy i was into lots of short selling few yrs bak. Continously did it for 10 trading sessions. and booked a loss :x in every session. just the day after sensex fell around 400 points ( the internet boom busting saga) and guess what.......
I had brought huge quantity that day. BIG LOSS

lost money and interest in market for years. now just do as small timer
PS: Cudnt sell Saksoft today all thanx to internet service provider on my locality and its down to 108. will sell them tomorow 😞
Market was down somewhat today..
important news for today is Rupee in a new five year high vis-a-vis dollar at 43.26....
i m thinking what would its impact in equity markets???
do major exporters would suffer anything due to it??
how is market poised to go with these shares??
Please put on your views...

its a kinda single window for all these services viz demat account, brokering etc. your online transactions automatically results in debit/credit of shares/money in your account. you can view your balance, do transactions and make money (can lose too

- ur suggestions plss! :)
charges includes holding charges, demat transaction charges, brokerage etc. they differs from company to company, but normally brokerage is same being a competitive market i'm using icicidirect.com ( joining fee rs 750) and happy with the services. my friend into 5paisa.com (india infoline) and he says its better than icicidirect. no idea about sharekhan or indiabulls. pan account is required. many private banks providing these days for rs 60 and process is very simple.

I as an amateur want to know what factors and criteria to keep in mind while making an investment in IPOs and other related stocks . Why do some IPOs list at such a premium in the market (gokaldas , saksoft in recent times ) and why do some fall flat immediately after listing (Deccan chronicle , Allsec tech in recent times )
Cheers![]()
Q: "Why do some IPOs list at such premium"... not some ..most IPOs list at premium...you have to know why the comanies choose the IPO route.. TO raise money... when they dont require external funding.. dont want to take loans.. they raise money from the markets.
With the cureent (mostly) bullish trend in the indian markets every comany knows thattheir IPOs would be well recieved and in all probability be oversubscribed.
That explains them listing their stocks at premium...coz they are aware that people would still be willing to have positions in teh stock...
Question ::-- Why do these stock fall and eventually trade below the IPO price...This is coz people start offloading their stake in teh stock. Now these are people who bought the stock just coz they wanted to offload their stake booking whatever profit that they can ASAP... these people know it if the comapny is not strong to hold its ground in the long run. They buy failry large volumes and sell them just as quick.
Q : HOw to steer clear of them... Before you decide to go for an IPO..research the company.. google all the details.. go to their website..read the financial numbers if available... but dont go by the number... see what is teh trend like... e.g have teh losses been reducing??? by what percentage... any expansion plans?? any tie ups.. any new markets/deals for the company.. look for all this info.. ANALYSE HARD.. and then decide if you wanna go for it...
Now what if you are not able to find any info... dont go for this IPO... it for sure is gonna land you up in losses...
Note : The term "people" mentioned above refers to both Retail and institutional investors
