I want to know where can we get the Schweser notes in Chennai. I want to join for Nov 2007 Garp exam.

Hi all,
I saw in Schweser web site that 2007 material is yet to be circulated. Can we go for group buying? Who will coordinate? what will be the cost?
1. The Schweser notes are supposed to be more than sufficient for the CFA tests..
Is the same applicable for the FRM test too?
2. Also, I'd be interested if any group purchase of the notes happens, so please keep
us updated tumtum..

Although I have not given it myself my roomie passed the FRM last yr and he was saying that saying that Schweser won't be enuff. He had to read up a lot from Hull and and read up a lot of concepts on the internet.

I just got an email today that registrations for 2007 FRM exam have started. The fees is $500. Make sure that you guys register before April 30, 2007 or else you will end up paying $650 for registration ($150 more).
I am just making a formal application to my company for reimbursing the fees and will register as soon as I am granted the approval. Should get it by this evening.
Also, I will soon arrange for Schweser notes and will keep you guys posted on the same.
When are you all getting registered?
Regards,
Tumtum.

Friends, the wait is finally over. I have registered for the 2007 exam. I have also talked to some people who would be instrumental in getting me the latest Schweser notes. Let's see how it unfolds.

Tumtum.
Hi I also plan to write the FRM in Nov 07.
Lemme know how your search for the Schweser notes pans out.I have access to the 2006 Scheweser FRM notes.
The zerox copy of original Schweser notes for 2007 FRM exam is available in Mumbai at the following address:
Laxmi Copy centre
Shop 1, VM Mehta Road
Opp. Rasraj Hotel, Near Mithibai College,
Vile Parle (West)
Mumbai - 56
Ph - 022 2613 4350/5051. Mob 9820541867
This is the same guy who also gives zeroxed Schweser notes for the CFA exams.
You all can call there at the given numbers and get the latest material. He told me that FRM material will be available after March 15, 2007.
Hope that solves this vexatious issue of reading material availablilty !
Cheers and happy reading !
Regards,
Tumtum.

Yes I am but from your enemy camp...ICFAI.....Hehe
Jokes apart. I would suggest that you dont go for any such misadventure because CFA L2 is pretty heavy and FRM is as we know- arguably heavy. You will get time of only 4 months to prepare for FRM exams if you register for both. Just give it a thought!
On a second thought, if your company is paying for both then you may as well register for both...hehe !
I hate delays, just want to get studying for the exam.
Another thing, this year onwards, the GARP fellows are using the 4th Version of the Risk Manager Handbook as their official material and not the 3rd Edition. So dont make the mistake of reading from the older Schweser material (since it is prepared from the 3rd version of handbook) or older handbook by GARP since that is already outdated.
Hope that is useful to all you guys.
hi guys,
i guess here a lot of janta is more experienced and in a better situation to
advice or rather suggest me as to when in the rite time for me to give FRM exam.
actually i will be giving my CFA level1 this dec 07, and probably level2 in june08, so i was little confused that wat would be the rite time for me to go for frm as to i have to clear the exams at once because stakes are high.
as for me(i m a student) i will be completing my graduation this june and will start with my masters in statistics,i do have this advantage of quants background but i really dont know the bulk of frm exam as to when it would be more likely to clear it before level1(given that i have to clear level1) or after level2 in which case u will have some 4 months in hand.
hope the people who have an idea could guide me,so as to take my decision.??:

My friend, whats the hurry?
You are just completing your graduation and appearing for L1 right? It means that you are near 21-22 in age. Even if you flunk a couple of times (which I pray you don't), you will still complete CFA by 27ish, which is very ideal for a person to do so!
The best would be to complete 2 levels of CFA straight and then go for FRM as it will be beneficial for FRM and for L-3 also since some of FRM stuff rolls over into L-3 of CFA.
Life has finer pleasures and moments also apart from studying. Take things easy and cool down. You dont want to be out of steam when it really matters to wok hard (typically in your 30s) to move up the ladder. Preserve that fire in you for the long run. Take things slow and you will find the journey more sweet than the destination.
Just my personal advice. Others may differ! All the best for your studies.
thanxs, buddy it was really gud to have your advice&me; too think a bit that way,it was just thast i thought it would be hard to study once you are doing job(&give; papers while doing job) so i had a thought to clear maximum paper i can will i study ie.masters,
anyways i think it better to go the way u r saying as mee tooo somewhere think thar ways.
Just FYI, I have attached the 2007 FRM Study Guide to this message. Kindly refer to it before you start the study, it should prove helpful.
Regards.
