yea..i guess the foreign language courses from JNU are of high repute. U'll have MNC's running after you.

But, then I know several guys who have done their MA in French but still go attend classes at Alliance.

So, I reckon that Alliance, Max Mueller etc are DA places to learn foreign Lingos.

Cheers.

hi ,
Learning a Foreign language is definitely worth it u learn a lot abt the country and its culture ..
A lot of things abt Language structure and phonetics .. I actually gained a better understanding of English language after doing my German at CIEFL, Hyderabad .. If u are based in hyd , learn German there its really good.
Viel Erfolg!!!!!!!

Hi vasudha,

Can u plz give me the details of German lang course of CIEFL hyd. Details as in: duration, timings, cost, do they have weekend batch, is their a localized webpage for CIEFL hyd, contact no.

Thanks in advance 😁 ,

Shuki

I had a go at Russian. Obviously, learning a foreign language does help u but the point is that it isn't as easy as it seems. Most of have this dogma that learning a foreign language is as easy as learning english but have we ever thought we were taught enlish as a language in our schools for such a long duration. The crux of the matter is that a normal person shall have to devote considerable amount of time in learning any foreign language. So my advice to all CATins is better prepare for CAT rather that learning any new language. I m not disparaging anyone, infact revealing the truth coz i have had an attempt at Russian an i know how tuff it is.

Pearl.

can any one help me in the fees structure

Whoever said Foreign Langs are not necessary for MBA is sorely mistaken. What if you want to open an office in a pl like Japan. If you do not know their culture they will not let you step into their country.

Sure, MBA is taught in English but did u know that the most widely spoken languages are Spanish, Japanese and French.

Dude, learn a foreign language it will pay off sooner or later and u can reap the benefits. 😃

Hi Sukhi,
Sorry for the late reply .. CIEFL starts fresh batches in July and Jan ..
For level 1(thats for freshers ) the admission is on a first come first serve basis ..till the specified no. of seats are filled (thats abt 45). Its a 3 months course n they have 2 batches one which has classes 5 days a week from 2pm-4pm (not very sure ) and another which has classes 3 days a week from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The fee is around Rs.600 is guess cant recollect the exact amount.

For level 2 and Advanced Diploma u'll have to take an entrance test .

Therez nothing much there on their website http://www.ciefl.ac.in/AboutCIEFL.asp?page=campus

Contact No:091-040-27098131

If ur interested contact them asap . I remember seeing a notification in The Hindu abt a week ago.
Bye.Good Luck

Hi Everyone !!!!

I am not preparing for CAT, however, I am keen on learning any one forigen language. I have heard that, if you learn Japanese then carrer option in it are more lucrative compare to other languages like French and Spanish. So anyone can clear my this doubt??

I know if you want to learn French then AF is best in Delhi for it but I don't know about the Spanish and Japanese. Which are the good institutes in Delhi for Spanish and Japanese and would it be possible to learn language like Japanese in Delhi as this language is not a popular as French and Spanish.

Thanks

Reema

hi all,

foriegn languages are important, and it helps if u know atleast one good important language like french, german, spanish or japaneese. in my b-school(GIM),french is taught as a non credit course.the proffessors that come here are from MAX MULLER, world renowned for german language teaching.

hey u can learn japanese and spanish in delhi. JNU offers courses in these languages, i know someone who learnt japanese frm there.. in fact it also offers spanish , italian etc. Fr spanish u also have the institute hispania in hauz khas..

neha

Thanks a lot for the information Neha. But I guess you would not be able to learn and practice good Japanese over there. I want same kinda atmosphere for Japanese which we get for Frech in AF. And if I go for Spanish then I read somewhere in this thread itself that Instituto Hispania is not up to the mark.

Reema

Well AF is really good of course.. I think JNU offers full time courses.. like BA in languages.. and the guy i know who learnt japanese there wen to japan to pursue it further..i cn check up frm him how good or bad it really is.. some1 told me tht they hv language labs etc.. y dont u check it out sometime..

Hey reema, u r right abt Instituto Hispania. They are very money minded.

I did a Basic Course in Spanish in Feb 2003. For a 64 hr (over 2.5 months) course, they charged 4800. Infact now, they've reduced the duration to just 40 hours, fee ofcourse remains the same! Dunno how they plan to teach a language in just 40 hours.

Also their teaching methodology is very unlike AF. From hat i've heard, at AF the stress is on spoken french, whereas here, they started off with alphabtes, verbs, nouns etc etc etc.... The way you are taught @ school. That works fine if it was a long term course, but not for a short term one.

But, since its the only institute (apart from the univ n BVB), you really are not left with a choice if u wanna go in for spanish.... :|
