Fpm 2013

@invban
@sb29 has already thrown some light on various aspects in this regard.
Yes, the acad structures for FPM vary across all the IIMs...and needless to mention that everything from 'environment' to 'teaching' would also vary. As a researcher, u would more often than not be on your own; now, I don't know what would be that "bucks' worth" according to you, but u certainly can make it big if u want to!! (u wud find FP students working as VPs of a few leading global companies, and also as someone like 'Ramachandra Guha')
I won't deny that requirements for acceptance are different in India from that abroad...however, I don't find rigour being absent in terms of doing research or publishing in top journals even in India.

hi any ideas abt SOP's ....n cut offs this year
@prithwiraj U have to go through the coursework phase for two years...post that it'll be upto u to complete as quickly/late as possible!! Only if the FP council deems fit, u wud get a stipend (maybe reduced in amt.) beyond 4 years (usually not beyond 4.5 years though). Payments to be made r IIM-specific (I pay for food only!! 😛 )...and don't restrict yourself while u apply!!
@AAOne can u please elaborate on my chances if any this year ??
@jainrohit2013 Seems you are trying for both PGP and FPM this year...
I can understand how it feel just after the scores are out, as one looks to secure admission somewhere somehow, and doesn't really bother what the programme is about.
But, as someone who has gone through this phase, I would advise you to take time and think about the career you would want to have in future. Then think of the courses/programmes which can help you in achieving that.
It seems you are in the final year of your college. Having work experience can help, so see if you would like to work before getting into a programme. It will not only help in to get real time experience of working, but also help you chances in future when you apply.
PGP is completely different than FPM. Not only in terms of the name of degree, but the duration, the programme structure, the objective of the programme, the teaching method, and the effort required from the student.
So think about it.
One last thing: Don't go to a college simply because it has a "PGP with nominal fees". Consider various aspects before choosing a college.

@vjjani Thanks for giving me some hope while i was busy cursing my life!!!

B does not call everyone for RAT...I believe they shortlist based on some criteria before calling for RAT...but someone from IIM B please do confirm this....

Hey guys.. Has anyone filled FPM form for IIM Calcutta yet?For Online form, is it completely online or do we need to send hard copy as well after submitting it online. Also what about recommendation letters? is it also online or hardcopy need to be send. I cant find this detail under instructions. Thanks
The online application is completely online, no need to send hard copy after submission. attested copies of supporting documents and originals need to be produced during the interviews if you are invited.

recommendation letters: you have to fill in you referee details and your referees will receive the links for writing your recommendation letters by email. no hard copy needed

note: if you are applying online, you can pay only by debit/credit card or by net banking. there is no option to pay by DD (unlike IIMB). if you want to pay by DD, you have to download the form from the website and apply offline.

hii any updates till wen shortlisted candidates will be notified??IIM A N IIM I?

@jainrohit2013 my prediction would be as good or bad as yours...so, i suggest u believe in yourself more than anyone else!! ALL THE BEST :)

Seniors please help........Do all the IIMs ask for letters of recommendation????
I will not be able to provide them with such letters from faculty due to some reasons....help please!!!!!

@cn22 IIMs A, L, Ranchi and Shillong do not require recommendation letters. However, A and Shillong ask applicants to provide details of academic referees on the form, who they may contact if they feel there is a need.

@vjjaniWith a mere 73 percentile in cat....is there even a remote chance of getting shortlisted....???I guess i know the answer.....Well another query ....IIMB website says one can apply without any score....Can i do so even though i have a valid cat score...

Well, this is not true. IIM Indore invites applications with scores, but has an option for RAT also. Anyone with low scores who are not shortlisted on the basis of that score is allowed to sit for RAT provided (s)he has check-marked the relevant check-box for RAT in the application form.
I encountered some candidates whose CAT scores were less than 50 percentile! However, be assured that the process after that is not easy, only about 20 candidates are selected through RAT. The difference between candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of their scores and those shortlisted on the basis of RAT is sitting for RAT itself. Once before the interview panel, all are treated at par.
Hope this clarifies.
@FPM_ISB Hi, I have been trying to get in touch with the adcom team to ask them if they can resend the reco email to one of my recommenders could you please help me out.
@Adymos Did you send your query to [email protected] ?

Which all IIMs accept CAT-2011 score for their FPM program??

I have applied to L based on 2011 score and thinking of applying to S,as they also accept 2011 score.Apart from that any other IIMs,which accept 2011 scores?
