hey guys....i kno tht the GD/PI's are done but since this is supposed to be a repository (n i found the time n inclination to do this now!) here goes...my thoughts on the whole process.. Opening Closing Stmts and Summary were asked to be made ... i think thts excellent coz then they get an impression of u even if they dont get 2 hear u 2 much in the GD.GD was abt 2 bids for hardware for an MNC... i think the batch before ours was a fishmarket but ours went off smoothly..Ppl started giving lengthy explanations(they asked for a STMT!) and they got cut off by the panelists... The duration of the interviews kept rogressively decreasing as time passed.The first 4 5 guys were in for abt 15 min but then wen it came 2 the rest of us it was hardly 5 min...all the usual stuff....y mba,a loooooooootta questions on acads,hobbies....n tht was abt it

hi... i have a %le of 93.6 in XAT with good acads.. MY BACKGROUND IS Bsc Electronics,,, my Gd/PI was also pretty good.. do i stand a chance of getting into GIM???? when is GIM final result expected 2 be out????? what abou the placements at GIM????

Search the GIM thread in the community or just read all the previous post and compare ur performance and then u will hv a fair idea whether u will gwt it or not

would freshers be marked zero on the 10% for work ex??
or would they calculate marks for 90 and convert that to 100%?

sorry to say but for zero work-ex, marks r also put as zero...

There is one doubt that I have here regarding the admissions procedure. As it stands, there is a clearly defined weightage assigned to everything from XAT score, to GD PI, TO work ex, to acads, to extra currics.
So all the scores will be fed into the computer and it will automatically spew out the list of lucky people who have earned themselves a right to be at GIM.
But somewhere in this very thread it was mentioned that the names go before a "Committee". (A post regarding a guy from Rajasthan who had landed a gim call at 84)
So I wanted to ask that if at all any such admission committee exists, what role exactly does it play. (they definitely dont carry out the clerical function of calculating the scores)

hey even i have this doubt as my pi was terrible... so does that mean i dun stand ne chance as i have 99.87 in xat and my gd was also very good... so how the exact procedure of final short listing would happen... seniors plz reply...

confidence booster for sure, but i have to disagree.
the fact that you've missed out maybe because of sheer bad luck. i do not, for one, think its apt to be generalising things. in my case i was facing a jury who i felt was not keen on having me there. not once, not twice , but three times, they emphazised on the importance of work-ex.
the first 2 times i defended quite well saying that ' how the rigours of an mba program will make me competent enough to handle the blah blah , gave examples too) , but when someone reiterates the same thing again and again , then, you start having doubts.
yes, you have people emphasizing on the fact that how GIM wants to have a fine balance of freshies (read me) and the work-studs.
and what i feel may very well be a zilch, but i think i've got reasons enough to substantiate my claims.
30% i feel is not so fine indeed! i personally felt that they were looking at havin people with work-ex.
i think you'll not agree to what i'm saying and we might go on and on about this.
(when i come down to mumbai we can catch up, maybe discuss this over a drink or something)
but if i do make it , then your post will always be vivid in my mind.

Cool, my first post to Pagal guy.... Made it thru GIM(final list) ....
GD was a Case-Study actually.... I agree that the 15 sec opening and closing statements give everyone a chance to showcase what theyve got...
My PI was a Total Stress interview..... a Tom and Jerry show.... the Interviewer was out to get me wrong-footed.... Interesting experience.... i hope the course will be just as interesting and enjoyable...... Cheers and Congrats to all who made it......:)
