how long does the entire process takes....
mine is @ 1.45 PM...

also is it true that the calls are in line according to ur XAT score... mine is on 4th of march... til now all ppls getting calls during that time i came across are in 90-93 range only ... plz clarify this....

I dont think so as mine is also on 4th and my percentile is 97.6

my heartfelt request to all,

pls dont indulge in one-liners like thanks, awesome man, you'll get through man.

if anyone has any query to ask, you can PM the concerned person regarding the same.

this can be done by

1. clicking on the concerned person's username
you'll be getting an option which says 'send a private message to xyz'. click and then proceed.

indulging in one-liners wont help anyone's cause.

as a result of the one-liners (which are not one bit suggestive), people who are genuinely interested in going through the experiences have to scan a lot of pages to find the same.

lets ensure that this thread remains clean.

this is d 3rd day gd/pi has been started and thr is only single post of gd/pi experience...
guyz plz post ur experiences for d rest of d people..
is thr only case study coming this year??...or some topic based GD is also thr???..
last yr gd was based on topics and d group was of 8-9 ppl...

HI ALL,

i believe no1 is interested in giving their PI experiences on PG or may be they beleive it mite help us get better of them................

wat ever be the case,atleast the whole doubt of GT/GD has been solved.........

now we need to think like a manager even in a GD,so all those current affair files goes to recycle bin.......

i hope we will get few more post on the experiences in next few days.......

Batch of Gd(GT)/PI: 25th, 8:45 at GIM Goa

GT/GD: Case Study GD.... It was an open and shut case about ethics... Everyone had the same points and the GD wasnt going anywhere. So was ended abruptly by the moderators... A case where a manager's secretary wants her niece to be hired. The manager passes the application to the HRD and so the assistant begins to sulk. What should the manager do???

PI: Very simple HR based PI...
The following ques were asked....
1> Tell me about urself?
2> Any othr calls?
3> Which institute would you choose of all the institutes?
4> Why GIM?
5> Discuss a social issues you are concerned about?
Discussed about farmers suicide for 5 minutes and they declared the interview closed.

In all a very calm process.. They are all trying to make you comfortable... One professor did check my certificates but no questions were asked on it...

Now if any puy has any specific query, I'll be glad to answer em!!!

Batch of Gd/PI: 26th Feb 2 pm

GD: There were 19 people scheduled to appear, of which 17 turned up. We were split in to two batches of 9 and 8 respectively. We were given a case study, about the action to be taken in case employees of u'r organization are found cheating. The panel consisted of 2 Lady professors of GIM , the ex-Director of GIM and another gentlemen who is on the Board of Directors. 4 people in all.
Each of us was asked to make an opening statement on the case for about 15 seconds and then the discussion commenced for about 15 mins. after this, each was asked to give a concluding statment. Also we were asked to write our opinion of how the discussion went in 6-7 lines.

The GD was Ok..some points repeated...tended towards a fish market at times.

And coming to the PI, mine lasted for about 10mins. They checked all the credentials and the interview was more like a friendly chat. The questions were like, tell about u'rself, why mba, why not job and then mba etc... I was ok with PI. Kind of messed it up with my stammering prob.

Anyways cheer on guys and be u'rself at the gd and pi. ATB

Batch of Gd(GT)/PI: 25th Feb 2 pm

Was in the same batch as Joel who posted the previous exp...

First things first....

In a batch of 19 or 20 only 13 turned up....I felt in the first case that was good... but later I realised that it was bad as we were all put in the same group to discuss an ethical dillema situation based case study(if that is what you like to call it). Had they all turned up ... I only hope that there would have been two batches....

I shall introduce the interviewers at a later point.


The case study goes something like this...

You and your co-worker are to hire a summer intern for your firm...Hr dept sends a few applications. One of them has the name of your Vice president with Jr.. behind it. What would you do????


We were asked to express our views one by one . It was a below average performance on my part but the overall output was some what decent.It went on to be a fish market at some points of time, but it was expected as it was a case study... everyone had something to say....

In the end we were asked to summarise our final thoughts in an order and then asked to write about what we felt about the GT as a whole.


Was not a great exp... but was second in line for the interview so was chatting out with a friend.

There were four interviewers....All were really friendly....

Lets identify them as...

P4: Whose name I do not remember but whom is in the board of dir


P1:Can I have a look at your certificates.
Me:Sure maam...
P4:So say us somthing abt yourself....
Me:Said something uninteresting...
P3:Lets talk about something that has happened in the past one month...
Me:How about IPL sir..
P3:Sure thing..
Me:Spoke a really basic thing about the whole thing...
P3:So do you think it will succeed....
Me:Yes sir in the short run yes... BCCI has made money anyway...
P1 and P2 were looking at my files and I did not notice what P2 was doing
P3:So how do you think will the corporates make money..
Me: spoke something...
P4:So say me somthing about your college....
Me:I said my college was the best arts and science college in the city and one of the finest in my state..
P4:is that it??
me:yup sir all that i knw of...
P4:Check your files and certificates man... it says your college is one of the top in the country...
Me:eh...eh...eh...oh... oh...oh...I didn know that...
P4:laughs out...
P1:So what did you learn at your college..
Me:THIS, THAT and ALL THAT....
P2: only ques she asked me)What is this TIME you are working at...
Me(dumbstruck)the coaching institute ..(poof went my chances)
P2: Ok
P1 asks if anyone had any other ques ... everyone said no... I guess they were thinking send this idiot out....(jus kiddin...)

P1 says i can leave... I thank them and leave....

The whole process was a below performance on my part but the panel was just too good... they had a smile on their face always...

The process is done so now looking forward to the results...Keeping my fingers crossed for a miracle..

GT/GD: I reached the venue at around 1:30 pm. There were few people already waiting. Came to know that the last person of morning batch (8:45 am) was having her PI. Thought will take some time, called up one of my friends (1st year in GIM) had a good chat with him (was talking about summers in GIM, site revamp, some faculty resigning, etc)
At around 2PM Jennifer took the roll call, there were around 17 people present. They took all of us in a room gave a briefing about the whole process. Then told the last 8 students to leave the room and wait outside.
The GD for first 9 students lasted for around hour. Then immediate our group of 8 people was called inside.
The case study: Some employees are misusing company resources time/software for personal benefits. By working for other private/small firms and trying to make extra money. So as a manager how will you react to the situation?
The panel consisted of 2 Lady professors of GIM (Shama Fernandes,Sarita D'souza), the ex-Director of GIM (P.F.X.D'LIMA) and another gentlemen who is on the Board of Directors. 4 people in all.

Each of us was asked to make an opening statement on the case each of us got just 15 seconds for it. Then the discussion commenced for about 8 min. It was a bit of chaos in between and the same points were getting repeated. After this, each one was asked to give a concluding statement around 15 seconds each. The sequence of concluding statement was in the reverse order of opening.
Then we were asked to write our opinion of how the discussion went in 6-7 lines.
By the time I finished my GD it was 3:30 pm. The PI was in sequential order and being the last person thought my turn will come way later. So, again met my friend, he showed me the campus and his room (Gosh they have very big rooms in admin hostel). Did some time pass till 5 pm.
PI: It was almost 6 Pm when I was called for my PI, my PI lasted for 5-6 mins.

D: Come in have a seat. (During GD too she had done maximum talking explaining the whole process)
G: (took the file from me) Describe yourself
Me: Company, college, school (in between handed my file to D)
(D was looking at my certis carefully and in between making an effort to listen to me)
G: So how good was your company?
Me:
G: how was the experience in college (BE)?
Me:
G: When did you decide to do your MBA?
Me:
(By then D had finished looking at my certis no questions asked on them)
D: So, how did you like the GT process?
Me: good, (somewhere I said it not the same in reality)
(All were attentive them must be thinking ok, lets grill him now)
G (all excited): So how is it different in reality?
Me:
G: So why didn't you tell this in GD?
Me: (felt the faculty was somewhat convinced)
F: So you mean Management is a game of chess? (I had said you make a move and check the response in my ans)
Me: (to convince them more related what I was saying by giving example of the Case Study)
(I guess they were convinced by them)
F: So which insti you applied?
Me:
L (first and the last question): How much did you get in CAT?
Me:
G: Ok, I think that's it. Thank you!
Me: Thanks
PI was ok all four panelist were encouraging to speak and were not at all interrupting in between. I had all the time in the world to answer each and every question.
But felt they were tried after conducting gd/pi of around 40 people from morning 9 am. So it was a short PI for me compared to others who had spent close to around 20 min.

I think the present batch of students sharing their experiences are the GOA Batch for GD/PI... It was gonna start on 25th in Goa

This question is to all those who have finished their gd/pi's... First of all thanks a ton for submitting your experiences. I have just 1 doubt. When you are asked to summarize after the gd, do you have to write about how you thought the gd went, or summarize the points made in the gd??

hi,

my intention by groaning was not to hurt or belittle anyone.

i felt that a gd/pi experience thread should be meant only for experiences. we always have a seperate thread for queries.

asking queries in the gd/pi thread does not serve any purpose.

all the queries in the middle of the experiences would only mean one thing, more no of pages to be scanned to locate the experiences.this would mean inconvenience to those who are interested in reading only the experiences.

if, by my groaning, you were hurt by any means, then i sincerely apologize.

i am not here to create bad-blood among fellow puys.

i'll take back my groans. my intention is not to create an animus atmosphere.
