Has anybody booked their slot in the month of April and May ?
And how about your preparation ? I am still continuing with the OG . Gave my first Mock GMat ( CAT ),
got around 550 score, disappointing but still a long way to go .
Immediately understood that sentence correction plays a vital role . So trying to spend
more time on it .
One more thing , How many of you guys actually donate or do some service to any of the NGO's on regular basis ?
Thanks & Cheers

Hi ,
First of all Welcome to Pagalguy .
Coming to your question . There are many insts in Hyd which provide GMAT coaching . I have done a little amount of research and was left out with either Princeton , Manhattan , TIME or IMS .
Princeton and Manhattan carry quiet a lot of reputation behind them ( again only a personal perspective ) . Had these two insts in Madhapur . After taking some suggestions from fellow puys and frnds , i joined Princeton Madhapur recently .
So i would suggest that you find out the insts which are near by your place and which is comfortable to you and then join in .
Sry for the long txt

Thanks & Cheers

Hi Hyderabadi Puys,
I'm also planning to appear for GMAT this year. Unfortunately, I've very little idea about the test and applying to colleges later. I would be really thankful if anyone could guide me here.
I know, it might be too much.
I stay in Hyderabad, near Tolichowki. My office is in Gachibowli.
Anyone here who can help ??

Apka bhi sab achha hoga.. :)
Just to get you started about the GMAT just have a look at the The Official GMAT Website
this will give you a fair idea about the test format etc...
as far as the prep goes, you can use the following material:
1. OG 11
2. Kaplan 800
that should get you started...
All the top B schools in the world accept the GMAT score for admission.
In India GMAT score is valid only for the Executive MBA programs, following are the colleges which accept the score in India:
1. IIM A,B,C and L (new additions might be there)
2. ISB
3. SP Jain
4. XLRI
5. Great Lakes Institute.
This should get you started... 😃
Please suggest me best institutes for GMAT PREP in and around Kukatpally, Miyapur or Hi Tech city.
Also which books/materials are you referring?
Hi I am Arpita. I am new to PG and now got confused. I subscribed this thread for GMAT 2012 http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/gmat-2012-study-group-hyderabad-25075814, but the moderator has closed it and redirected to this thread which I see started way back in 2006. Is there anybody planning to take the exam before June 2012?
I have just begun my preparation and would like to be part of a study group aiming GMAT in next 4 months for study materials and study-morale 😃
pls suggest me some good gmat course material online..
Hi everyone,
Supposing that i did very well in GMAT,how do you plan to manage the funds as studying outside is very costly and if loans is not taken as an option how to manage them, can anyone suggest?

Hi Arpita,
Good to see more like minded people joining in...
I am planning to take the GMAT in the month of May 2012 before the pattern changes :)
Books that I am referring to are as follows:
1. OG 12
2. Kaplan 800
3. Princeton Verbal
4. OG Verbal Review
5. OG Quant Review
As of now very motivated... but need to see where we are after 2 months..

Is there anybody who has a considerable amount of preparation. I have already prepared for the gmat. trying for 700+. I am stuck at 650. Anybody there whos planning to give gmat in 1-2 months time, please contact!

Hi Naval,
As of now I am focussing to apply for colleges in India. As far as studies in the US or any other countries go the tuition fees + other expenses will be in the upwards of 110,000$. So its a bit difficult to arrange for the funds. But we can get international loans upto 85% of the fees.
Anybody planned for phd/fpm here?
@Vishwanath_Raju: What is this star-studded site buddy?
@ArpitaR12: As a creator of the thread http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/gmat-2012-study-group-hyderabad-25075814 I also felt at loss when the moderator Neo closed the thread without proper reason and as per the celebrated *rulebook* the thread didn't violate any policy. But I guess, we have to live with the fact that most of the PG moderators are not professionals and..... well, don't bother. We are here to study together and maximize our scores and helping others along the way...:) So you can pretty much get started with the material list suggested by Viswanath_Raju
@Akkumon: May be you can share some of ur GMAT exp (I don't mean question Mr Moderator if u r reading this) like which section is most tricky and time consuming while prep etc.
@pbindu: FPM/PhD program application deadlines are generally much later(4-5 months) after the regular MBA deadlines, so I guess u can still give MBA a shot, may be in 1st cycle (considering u r still deciding b/w the two)
oops i dont know why it was * studded by the forum checker.. :|
newaz below is the site name again.. (please replace the * s with the following word:

From my past experience, what I have learned is - what you have to learn is pretty clear.
Learn OG 12th edition, MGMAT SC , Powerscore CR bible, For reading comp. your own way of hacking the short and long passages based on your comprehending ability.
Just dont go thru OG, by trying to answer and to finish it very quickly. Spend considerable time on each question because you can learn atleast 2-5 new things in each question, its just that you have to spend some time on it and note them down properly. (OG maths I would say go for only harder problems and try to see the different video explanations for the quant OG. OG SC also try to learn them from some video explanations.)
Most of the people are good at quant in gmat upto a certain level, but since it is a long exam, you have to learn how to solve it quickly without stressing your self. If you are successful at this part , to a good extent your verbal will improve.
When the stress mounts, we start becoming passive readers in RC. Always make notes for RC's and you can hit atleast a 90% accuracy in RC's which is to a good extent the key to GMAT verbal. As for SC's and CR's I would say its basically practice. CR's also if possible go for taking notes for higher level questions.
ur target shuld be sc-1 min, cr, rc -1.5 min. First 15 questions and last 12 questions put proper effort. For the remaining questions I would say, you shouldnt spend too much time, but the first and the last sections, try to make them perfect.
At the end of the day, its god and our mindset that day!!!!
