Hi Phani4mba,
During this weekend, I pulled together all the study material I collected over a period of time. I started feeling more comfortable just because I am now spirited much better after following all the information in this forum.
The next task is to have a study plan that suits me well.
I will need to start with a rough plan and later keep tailoring it
as I get nearer to the GMAT day.
Let me know, what phase you are in. Hopefully we can have some overlap in preparation based on our individual plans.
Hi
I too download couple of book from different forums online and started my preparation starting with Verbal section as i feel that is my week area .. its not that i am strong in Maths but still verbal is some how a bit uneasy part for me ....
I would also like to know are you looking for any coaching or are you planing on your own ...
Why cannot we meet together to have some talks ..
Phani

Phani,
Good to know that you could start your preparation.
I am with Engg' background and am relatively strong in Math.
I used to have problem with my reading speeds, but these days as
I am doing more reading I could improve my reading speed a bit; still
need to improve on the comprehension part.
I plan to prepare for GMAT by myself.
By next week end, I plan to take a mock GMAT test and see where I stand.
BTW ,
what is your background, about academic/work.
Today I started my preparation by taking a GMAT diagnostic test at crack-gmat.com
The quality of the test seemed decent.
I found myself short of time for Quant section while I was left with some time at the end of Verbal section. But the scores were otherway around, I scored less in Verbal and pretty good in Quants. I was also surprised that my score is placed at 95+ percentile ( 650 ).
In the end, there was a note saying that the actual score could be a 100 more than the diagnostic test score , as these tests are designed for low scoring. I will, of course, be glad if that is indeed true :)...
I plan to use this result in setting up my study plan for the next 3 months or so. If I were to score 750+ , I need to spend more time on Verbal section.
If any of you also took this test and differ in opinion about the quality of the test, please share your views. Also let me know, if there is some other diagnostic test that can measure our skill more accurately!
Hi Phani,
I earlier told you that I will take a diagnostic test by the end of this week. I finished taking it and scored around 650 ( @ crackgmat.com). If you hadn't taken any diagnostic test so far, I strongly recommend this one for you.
I got my quant section answered pretty well, but
scored low in verbal section. It looks like I need to put more effort on Verbal section.
Just wanted to keep you posted.
Hey Shiva,
Just noticed your message.
I just started my preparation. I would be taking the test end of Aug. Lemmi know about your plans.
Guys,
Me too from Hyderabad.. Taking GMAT July End..
Just started off with preparation.
I was lucky enough to get OG 11th Edition and Quant+Verbal Review - Total Cost - 3400/- 😞 From Universal Book Stores, Mehdipatnam ...
Rest Manhattan 2003 SC can be downloaded from 5GB of free space to upload and share your files, photos, videos and music - eSnips.com --> Search for GMAT and u will find plethora of material, including OG 10 (I already had), 1000 SC/RC/CR.
Some tips from previous test takers and achievers:
1. Start off with Kaplan Verbal Review and Kaplan 800.
2. By heart all rules of Manhattan SC - Its toooo good.
3. OG try to do at last - as its rated closest to the GMAT - Also explanation of OG make a lot of sense (Verbal) once done with Kaplan and Manhattan.
4. Rest net is the ultimate source.
Rest I will keep u guys posted.
Cheers,
Bipul
Welcome to the Hyderabadi GMAT guild.
The same place you mentioned had these books in pdf format, free of course (later 2). Anyway , you now have' em in physical form, which is very handy !
Did you take a diag. test ?? if so, lemmi know where you stand now.
Did take a Diagnostic test - Last yr's GMAT PREP CD...
Arranged it from a frnd of mine... And took sufficient material on my laptop as well.
You could take the latest practice tests.
You can download the GMATPrep software( including 2 practice tests ) from MBA.com.
How was you performance in the diag. test ?
BTW , I just finished GMATPrep practice test 1 : 680 ( I am disappointed because of my verbal scores.)

I have got the latest CD from mba.com which sends it to u once u register for the GMAT. Will take it later when I am done with most of my preparation.
Me scored a 700 (51 Quant, 35 Verbal) in the test I took.....
Preparation is still on, tough to find time after office hours.
700 sounds good but then, 35 in verbal is not so good.
If you could increase your Verbal score by another 10 points,
I bet you will be 750+, which is exceptionally good.
Hope to hear positive news from you, as we get going with our preparation.
I am shooting for 2nd week of Aug (hopefully).
Keep writin.
Cheers,
ShivaS

Hi Phani,
Good to know your aspirations, and I wish you all the very best for the same.
BTW, I have the following study material
OG-10, OG-11 ( SC, Math review), Manhattan SC 2003 ed, Kaplan , Princeton review , Nova GMAT and a few more.
If I can keep my focus all through, I have enough material that can
keep me bz 😃 .
How about you? what all do you have ??
I remember you mentioned that you need to focus more on Verbal section. Manhattan SC is one good material for sentence correction.
