Hey everyone!
I am planning to take GMAT this August in Hyderabad. Great to know that there are so many aspirants in my city and initiative has been taken to form a study group for mutual help.
I am slightly weak in Quant though my Verbal is strong. As Bipul said Coaching Institutes don't work miracles for anyone, but wanted some inputs on how I can work on my quant skills so that I can clear the 700 mark.
I have 6 years of work ex in Fin Services, of which last 4 have been in middle management. Acads OK Extra Curricular - So so.
Please suggest some good places where or ways in which I can train in Quant in Hyd.
Thanx in advance

Need not worry abt GMAT Maths so much..
The problem solving issues can be done after minimal research in Numbers, Ratio & Proportion, Time - Speed - Distance - Work, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interests, Geometry.. a lil bit of probability..
Start with the basics..any GMAT material...
Data Sufficiency will require a lil practice.. :)
Cheers,
Bipul

U have which Kaplan - Kaplan 800 or Kaplan Verbal Workbook ?
Anyways, start off with Kaplan - Do the theory of Verbal (RC, CR and SC) properly...and do the qns - Read the answers and explanations (Both which u do right and wrong).
OG 11 shud be done preferably towards the end, as its nearing to actual GMAT.
Meanwhile, download Manhattan Sentence Correction from and start it - Its a bible for Sentence Correction.
Also - if u r abt to begin ur preparation - Catch hold of a GMAT POWER PREP CD (of last yr.) and take a diagnostic test -to gauge ur current level.
Well, thats my strategy.
All the best for the preparation.
Cheers,
Bipul
P.S: The CD which one gets post GMAT registation shud b done at last, a few days before actual GMAT...
Hi guys,
I have booked a slot for the first week of September.
I have been in IT for 2 years.
Righ now, I am in the process of taking mock tests. The problems at home are power cuts and interruptions because of the doorbell etc.
Can anyone suggest where to take the 4-hour long tests? My preparation is lacking this at the moment. Are there any centres?
Waiting for your suggestions.
Thanks a lot!

hi,
any opinions on the TIME And PRinceton review/manyagroup courses in hyderabad.
i am considering joining either of them due to my poor preparation.
Hi evny07,
TIME GMAT coaching helps very little man. I have taken it. What they teach there is just a subset of what they teach for CAT. GMAT Coaching there is no way aligned to the actual GMAT. Well, this can be expected as they have little experience in GMAT coaching ( they have conducted 3 to 4 batches only till date ). My suggestion would be to prepare by yourself rather than depend on any coaching institute. Thats the best and believe me, the most reliable way to prepare for GMAT. Thats what I have done. I joined TIME just to incorporate some discipline into my prepartion, so that week after week, I am reminded that I have to prepare. I have chosen TIME as its the cheapest one available around.
TIME has a long way to go as far as GMAT is concerned.
I dont know much about the other ones available. Heard that PR is too expensive and what one gets after paying such a huge sum is just an AC classroom to sit, nothing more.
RKA.

Hi RKA,
Totally agree with you;TIME is gud for CAT, they dont have expertise in teaching GMAT. I have enrolled myself in IMS though, and a month into the course, i think its kinda OK.Classes are conducted in a 100sq foot room, with a split AC, and with the rains lashing down every now n then, u gotta beg people to turn it off coz u freeze to death in the last couple of rows:).Looks like people there are adamant abt giving us our moneys worth, any which way they can.
hi RKA and Harihar,
a big thank you for your opinions. well appreciated.
I have decided to go through the study material i have though my prep has slowed down. My weekly practice test score is still hoovering around 640. quant appears to be the main problem.

Hi,
This is Divya here, and am relatively new to this community,as in i have never participated much,
Am giving my Gmat on Oct3rd and i would like to know if there are any other coaching centres which conduct mock tests(Other than Princeton, its way too expensive i feel)
Please let me know,if someone knows such institutes,
Thanks a ton,
Regards,
Divya
I took GMAT at Hyderabad centre this march , but not satisfied with my score and want to sit again. My query is , at Hyderabad centre the work sheets they gave me for my rough work had excel tables like divided squares all over the sheets leaving free space only at borders , that was inconvenient for me. Is like this only given at every centre, or should I opt for another centre. Please suggest me.
If you are talking about the laminated sheets of paper then its available at EVERY gmat center. Its a uniform roll out so you'll have to deal with it. You might want to consider www.gmatscratchpad.com - GMATScratchpad -GMAT scratchpad test prep kit if you want a replica pad.
Thanks for the information. Could u please give me tips as how to use these laminated sheets . Is there any purpose of the grid or should I use the border space only as before.

I'm not sure what purpose the grid serves. you can use it as you would a regular piece of paper. They simply wipe it after you're done so it really doesnt matter where you write.
