Guys, I have taken 3 practice tests on the kaplan cd and my performance has been abysmal so far- scored 580,590, and 610 ... But on the online practice test , i scored 700.. but i felt the online free test was wayyyyyy tooooo easy by kaplan standards or even by gmac standards...
I think i am pretty comfy with maths.. make only 2or 3 mistakes even on kaplan.. but verbal seems to be a complete knock out.. minimum 13 mistakes in any test that i took... Is this the kaplan effect or is my english really that pathetic? need some serious advice...
just wanted to know if there is anyone else sailing on the same boat as i am... desperate to improve my scores and hardly have any time.. sept 5th is my exam and am not gettin any leave to prep for it...
I havent tried the princeton tests yet.. are they worth buying? Are there anymore online tests that can be taken for free ? I m virtually running out of time and have not many cd tests with me(except kaplan and GMATprep)
Can anyone suggest anymore CD tests that can be bought or taken?

Dont worry about ur Kaplan scores. They look ok to me...with an avg 600 kaplan score u will land up in 700's in GMATprep. Actually Kaplan has a weird way of calculating the total score. The thumb rule is to add 100 to whatever u get in Kaplan test. Atleast thats what i and my friends have done.
But note that the quant section in Kaplan tests is not what you will ultimately see in the gmat exam. Kaplan's quant is compartively easy. I would suggest that you take a GMATPrep exam and then gauge ur comfort level in Quant.
The Verbal section in Kaplan is defintely tough. But again to get a true representation of your comfort level take a GMATPrep exam.
Btw have u been using OG11. If u havent looked into it then pls do so asap. You have 3 weeks to go fr ur GMAT so u still have time incase u havent been doing OG.

you are not trying hard enuf to find practice tests. pagalguy pe hi search maro. too much stuff for one person.
also add 100-110 points on your Kaplan scores to get a fair idea of the actual GMAT.
dont get disheartened cause of Kaplan. it is not representative and shud only be used as a tool to find out weaker sections in the prep. not for any other purpose. tough questions to pratice maybe. nothing beyond that.
also from wht i heard about princeton - they aren't worth the money.
EVA for other preps is better

To answer ur question, Yes , I have been using OG11. I had completed the Verbal part of it about a month ago.. guess i feel a little out of touch with it now....
And I made a mistake of taking one of my GMAT prep tests before starting any prep.. I do remember that the quants was much much tougher than I had expected it to be... I got a score of 650 in that... I am just saving the second GMAT prep tests for the last week... I was told it gives a reasonbly accurate estimate of what my final scores can be...

I had come across two sites which offer some online tests..
800score.com and catprep.com..
Any idea if these are good sites and whether the material in those sites are worth buying? (cat-prep charges $45 for five tests and 800score.com charges $19.99 for the same )

I have no idea about how are the tests from these sites.But i have come across some posts at PG mentioning 800 score tests.the other one i have never heard of.you can always take the trial tests from theses sites before deciding to buy from one.
one more thing-$ 45 is on higher side, $20 sounds okie dokie.
please let me know if u decide to buy one.I would like to know your experience with the material.

Like i said , strange quirk of fate. I had asked my UK friend for the book but she cldnt buy it coz i had asked her too late and consequently she didnt have the time. So I told my aunt who's in the US on a short trip. Unfortunately,uk friend felt a li'l guilty and asked her uncle (who was comin in fm the states) to pick it up. That gentleman searched 6 shops before finally purchasing the lowest price possible(which incidentally is rather high) I've just picked up the copy fm her. Did I mention that in between my aunt confirms she has the copy?? :-|

so far only collecting material. Apart fm the SCHG i've also managed to lay my hands on Manhattan CR/RC, Kaplan 800(05-06 edn),Princeton Review and OG10. Not sure if I'll go in for an OG11 and harshg advised me not to go for the Kaplan88(06-07)edn. As you can see, theoretically am serious abt the 750+ score. Cant wait to see what happens when push comes to shove

How does One start Preparing for the GMAT??
From all my readings, I believe we start by taking PowerPrep/GMATPrep. Then you analyse your weaknesses and identify what are the weak areas.
Then you proceede to solve OG10, halfway through which you take the second PowerPrep/GMATPrep.
Once you are done with OG, you then start with Kaplan800,the 1000 series,.... any other material that you might have.
So far so good?
