... so too are... is this correct???
It should be "that allow" Therefore either options B or D I'd go with option B since the first part talks about computers and then further goes on to talk about modems

called for...to maintain parallelism...both should hav called for...so eliminate A. E is awkward. C has with and included both...not lookin rite to me. between B and D i hav no clue...but D sounds better. :(
20 Chicago, where industrial growth in the nineteenth century was more rapid than any other American city, was plagued by labor troubles like the Pullman Strikes of 1894.
(A) where industrial growth in the nineteenth century was more rapid than any other American city (B) which had industrial growth in the nineteenth century more rapid than that of other American cities (C) which had growth industrially more rapid than any other American city in the nineteenth century (D) whose industrial growth in the nineteenth century was more rapid than any other American city (E) whose industrial growth in the nineteenth century was more rapid than that of any other American city
Comparing growth...not growth vs city... so B and E remains...growth was more rapid than that (growth) of other cities...i wud not go for B ...which is used for a clause mostly... whose is better...and also any other city is better.... but not 100% sure...

hey guys, anybody has any idea on the difficulty level of hte IMS india free GMAT tests?? is it comparable to the difficulty level of princeton, kaplan or Real gmat test??
Venky...i took IMS...so may be i can help here...what do u mean by difficulty waise...some tests are difficult but u end up gettin a high score...like in actual gmat...if the test was tough...u r dooin gud...but others dont make such gud adaptive test taking algos and screw up the scoring part...so kaplan will always giv u low scores. IMS tests will give you scores around 700 if u r goin to get a 750+ in gmat. kaplan will give u 670 for the same. What i have seen is Kaplan is nearest in terms of toughness...but here the thing to keep in mind is....only 750 range scorers will feel it is the same level...
IMS tests are crappy...the verbal part....the CR is nothin like the actual GMAT...maths is gud...but do take em if u hav them....my funda is to take as many tests and learn from mistakes...i don worry bout scores much... and I calculate my own score....by simple formulae of 1 for correct and -0.25 for incorrect. thats it...and try to get 34 in maths...and 32 in verbal...anythin more than that is welcome. if u r not doin more than 6-7 wrong in verbal...u r pretty gud...and maths...;ideally 100% accuracy is achievable...but 2 mistakes is also gud.
so i wont think bout what tests...levels and stuff....simply take the tests and stick to my benchmark.
Critics of Country As trade policy with Country Z contend that Country As low tariffs are responsible for its large trade deficit with Country Z. Government officials, however, argue that there is a trade deficit with Country Z because low labor costs in Country Z allow its companies to manufacture goods cheaply. The officials also claim that economic competition from Country Z is responsible for better prices for Country As consumers. Therefore, they say, the most logical way to lower the trade deficit without hurting Country As consumers is to _________.
(A) raise the tariffs on goods imported from Country Z (B) encourage businesses in Country A to reduce their labor costs (C) increase taxes on all goods not manufactured in Country A (D) improve the products manufactured by Country As companies and market them heavily in Country A (E) subsidize all of Country As companies that manage to maintain their prices at the level of the goods produced by Country Z

Analysis required.
I'll go with E. As neo put it, its short and right
242) Despite the recent election of a woman to the office of prime minister, the status of women in Pakistan is little changed from how it was in the last century.
(A) is little changed from how it was (B) is a little change from how it was (C) has changed little (D) has changed little from how it has been (E) is little changed from the way it was
242) Despite the recent election of a woman to the office of prime minister, the status of women in Pakistan is little changed from how it was in the last century.
(A) is little changed from how it was (B) is a little change from how it was (C) has changed little (D) has changed little from how it has been (E) is little changed from the way it was
Ok let me give it a try... I think (C) is the answer. The verb should be has changed.. (D) would have been correct if the option would have been 'has changed little from how it had been'
242) Despite the recent election of a woman to the office of prime minister, the status of women in Pakistan is little changed from how it was in the last century.
(A) is little changed from how it was (B) is a little change from how it was (C) has changed little (D) has changed little from how it has been (E) is little changed from the way it was
I feel that the answer is A
B - this is out as 'a little change' is wrong C - 'has changed little...in the last century' i feel sounds incorrect. D - 'how it HAS been' is wrong E - sounds verbose

Puys , need help on a DS question : Q. If x and y are nonzero integers, is x/y an integer? (1) x is the product of 2 and some other integer. (2) There is only one pair of positive integers whose product equals y.
I think the answer's E
Expln:
1) 1 says that x is the product of 2 and some other integer. this doesnt tell us anyhting on its own. e.g: it can be 2 X 5 say... or 2 X 4
2) from this we can get that y is a prime number. only prime nos have one pair of positive integers as products. So y can be like.... 1 X 2 or 1 X 5 etc...
So when u say...x/y, we can get.... ( 2 X 5 ) / ( 1 X 7) say... this is not an integer u can also take... ( 2 X 2 ) / ( 1 X 2) as 2 is also prime.... in this case ans is an integer.

Except C i dont see any other option making any sense...is with past tense sounds awkward...
