I understand what you are saying, buddy!

May be providing the answers first is better than people posting explanations which are wrong ... Atleast people will bother to think on where they went wrong.

What you need to do is only write a gentle post mentioning that you need an explanation.
What happened once need not happen again.

Also, should i post my explanation without knowing the answers are correct or not?

Woulndn't it be best if you post just one question at a time where you want "explanations".. and post multiple questions when u just want to confirm your answers..

RockStar,
here's my explanations ,I am not sanguine..
1.
E. In England, a larger percentage of the students take their A Level exams in college than the Northern Ireland students do.
one can safely remove c& d as the modifier positioning is wrong...i.e.. do so in Northern Ireland..do what? no action to being indicated on the noun..
the subject in comparison here is the students..so we need to check the other phrase which is being compared to..contains students..and the action that the subject follows is mentioned in the sentence at the beginning..

2.
A.have increased from 500,000 to two million, an amount that is about the size of the entire education budget..the dependent clause modifies the amount of money..so an amount should be at the start of the clause...go ahead further..the sentence goes incomplete if we remove the pronoun that/which..one should use that as the comparer..also one notes that the sentence containing which is awkward as the meaning gets distorted.

3.
Undercover police detectives have observed large concentrations of gang members in the west end of the Meadowvale district, which is consistent to the growth of crime there.
B. the Meadowvale district, where the crime's growth is consistent with these findings..
in this we can simply come down to the part in question as by view it seems the error is grammartical/ idiomatic/syntactical..
where/which pronoun can modify the district..but what is the preposition following the consistent..it seems with sounds better & hearable..

these are my understanding..
let us not take things personally & use this forum for the best of oneself only..

I assume people already know the answers most of the answers and want explanations ... which are more important.
I believe you'll agree on the latter.

one/many questions -- just a matter of choice!
E, C, D.
Answers please...

convincing enough buddy...

here u go...its BCD

My answers: ECD

(1)
Got the first one wrong 😞 Someone please explain.

(2)C
-- use of "has" is wrong in D,E
-- "amount" is needed to modify "from ... to ..million" => B is wrong
-- was stuck between A/C -- then thought that "is" is making the latter sentence an independent clause, which is wrong, hence marked C

Please feel free to add/correct

(3) D
-- "consistent with" is the correct idiom, hence A, C wrong
-- "crime's growth" - wrong usage => B wrong
-- D "findings" needed to modify observation, "area" to modify the district => D correct
-- "there" - confused referrent -- west end or district

will go with C

thnks...but following is the answer :
The best answer is D. The phrasing of the comparisons in choices A, B, and E is
incomplete, so the comparisons are ambiguous. Choice D employs concise, idiomatic
phrasing to express a logically complete comparison.

I am confused with the usage of 'were' after than....plz explain

hi all, plz help me with this one :

islolation compared with species
B. isolated from contact with humans longer than
same as a
C. in isolation from contact with humans longer than were
looks the best
D. isolated from contact with humans longer than were
'somone' has to isolate, incorrect
E. in isolation and without contacts with humans longer than
same as a

my answer B but that's not correct according to explanations

I left D bcoz of passive construction. Its not sure if someone isolate them from contact with humans or bcoz of their habitat.
I still go with C , if it comes in the exam.
by the way whatz the source of question?

The woodland sub-species were in isolation from contact with humans longer than either their marsh cousins or the tree-dwelling sub-species.

A. in isolation from contact with humans longer than
B. isolated from contact with humans longer than
C. in isolation from contact with humans longer than were
D. isolated from contact with humans longer than were
E. in isolation and without contacts with humans longer than

EXP:

A. Wrong comparison. contact is compared with other species.
B. Wrong comparison. contact is compared with other species.
C. CORRECT: 'Than were' is write usage to compare the duration of isolation of different species.
D. wrong : 'Than were' is correct usage but, 'isolated longer than' is awkward construction.
E.Wrong comparison. contact is compared with other species.

I think,
the underlined part should end with a were as the subject of comparison is the duration of certain elements..i.e we use directly as. ..i shall take more food than taken either by ravi or shyam..verb to be followed by the idiom either or is missing in the others.. auxiliary verb provides the action of comparision of 2 subjects..I am not sure though about the usage of isolation between C & D.
